A playthrough of Capcom's 1991 platformer for the Nintendo Game Boy, Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge.
This was a great title when it came out - it was Mega Man on the go! It was also cool that it wasn't a direct port of any existing Mega Man game - it is a mashup of the first two games on the NES with brand-new level layouts for the each of the featured boss robots.
It has been criticized for being too difficult, and to some extent it's a valid complaint. The actual platforming is about the same as it's always been, but the larger characters on the cramped stage layouts do make it difficult at times to maneuver around the enemies, and sometimes you can't see what is coming. With enough play, you do learn what to watch out for, so it's just a minor annoyance when you consider how it's such a great pocket adaptation of two amazing NES games.

CryMoar Ikr! I love it, I can't play emulated GB games any other way now. The shaders are *really* accurate :) If you like the look, most of the GB games in my handhelds playlist were also recorded like this

As a member of the generation that played these as pre-teen kids, I must say when putting it on the big screen (non-minimized abd not on full screen), it comes close to how big it seemed to me back then. The grown ups could not understand how we kids were able to see anything on those small screens.

When you are young, your eyes tend to be at their best, once you near 50, the screen becomes impossible to see. That's where the Super Game Boy, or Game Boy Player for the Gamecube come in quite handy, because I sure as shit am nearing 50, and can't see the tiny screen anymore.

Playing this on the Super Game Boy was lots of fun. Changing the color palette yourself to match the levels you were in was like playing two games at the same time for me!

The first Mega Man game for Game Boy I ever bought, found at a Gamestop by where I used to work, when GS still sold old GB games around the PS2 era. At the time I just had Mega Man 8 for PS1, and was just beginning to build my Mega Man collection, a friend helped me complete the GB, NES, and SNES set (excluding the X series, because at that time I turned down offers to get the 3 games, and eventually got the first one from a friend's sister, and bought Japanese versions of X2 and X3), including Rockman and Forte SFC.

Wow!! The "Game Boy" has such a great sounding "Sound Chip"!! I always found it strange that in the "NES" version, when taking on bosses with yer default weapon, "Cutman" was probably the easiest while "Elecman" was one of the tougher ones, here it's completely swichted!! xD Needless to say, "Mega Man"(right next to "Castlevania") has to be some of the most addicting action/platform games I've ever played so far and the series gets(mostly) better with "X", "Zero", and "ZX" series offering deeper, richer and more challenging experiences to make such an engaging and AWESOME action game!!^^ Fun play-through, by the way!!^_^ also, gotta love that ending theme.... ..

And I'm with you, Mega Man has a sort of playability that so many others games just lack and feel kinda empty in comparison. I dunno what the X factor is there, but Capcom certainly did for a good number of years

Isn’t this the same shader used on Virtual Console 3DS? I find that the cramped screen doesn’t harm the experience, as every section seems like it was designed with the tiny screen in mind. Even some of the enemy’s behavior were changed for the smaller screen to be slower (Those weird flame thrower robots).

No, this is a shader from Retroarch. Unfortunately the 3DS screen resolution isn't nearly enough for this shader.

@@Beansman-gp3ws Cut Man is usually the first one anyone should start on, so it's easy to assume that's who you start with in this version. I made this mistake too and so has everyone else. No need to be a fucking asshole about it.

Is it just me or does Elecman have incredibly stupid ai in this game? Both this and the other playthrough I watched had him spend most of the fight just jumping in a circle not attacking.
