Rockman X 2017 is a ROM hack created by Puresabe, based on Rockman X also know as Mega Man X. It's for the Year of the Rooster. Facing off against Storm Eagle and Chill Penguin, with all new attacks, and animations. It's very difficult and has a game breaking glitch, increasing the difficulty even further.

For those who aren’t in the loop Puresabe( I think it’s pronounced Puresa-bay, idk). Is the guy who made Rockman 4 Minus Infinity, Rockman 7 EP, Rockman 5 Model A(now cancelled) and one of the devs of the unfinished Romhack Rockman 6 Spirits of Hackets(formerly Rockman 6 Skype) and his other new year Romhacks since 2014, he has 2 other mega man x new year hacks involving Blizzard Buffalo and Neon Tiger(forgot their exact names) though if you play them I hope you’re fast

The Eagle fight kinda has Air Man vibes and I'm not really ok with that lol Also, I wonder if Chill Penguin is a slight nod to Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. They have a very similar power set and MK was the only serious competition for SFII.

You're right, it's definitely a throwback to Air Man. It's possible, MK came out a year before MMX.
