When Zero showed up and James said "who is that?", my heart sank...that's like Knuckles showing up in a Sonic game and somebody asking the same question.

That "fireball" you're talking about...yeah, that'd be arguably the most well-known projectile in all the land: the Hadouken.

When they show the battleships at the beginning I was like wait I don't remember this being part of the game

Not a reboot at all Mike, it's a "Hundreds of years in the future" X takes place long after Mega Man Classic.

That fireball attack you mentioned is actually the Hadouken, its a tribute to street fighter since they're both by Capcom.

X isn't a reboot. It's a continuation after 100 years.

Watching this feels like I'm 7 years old again with my bestfriend Eric as we trudged through this, and Wing Commander on summer break. Classic times of nostalgia.

Apparently the reason X looks so similar to classic Mega Man is because originally an early design for the character that would become Zero was going to be the new Mega Man, but later they decided to go with a more familiar look while updating the Zero design into his own character.

I can't resist. It just makes me more hyped for the X Collections.

The power up you guys were talking about on the armor armadillo stage is a 1 shot attack move that you can do but it's tricky to pull off. You guys can't get it anyway because you can only get it after you've gotten all the armor upgrades, health upgrades, and all the e tanks filled and not get hit on that stage.

There's a really good remake of this game on the PSP called Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Once you beat it you can go through and play as Vile. I strongly recommend it

Watching them play just made me mad haha. I played this game as a kid and I still remember where everything in this game is and all weaknesses.

Just to clarify this, the fireball Mike is talking about is literally a Hadouken, and you actually use it the same way like in Street Fighter 2. It also doesn't take that long to get everything if you use a guide, otherwise you likely won't even find the hadouken because it requires you to revisit the same area in Armored Armadillos stage, I believe 5 times, and it only appears if you found every armor upgrade, subtank and heartcontainer. I also highly recommend watching a 100% speedrun of this, good runners can beat it in under 40 minutes consistenly and since the game has barely any glitches it is fairly straightforward and easy to understand, with a few exceptions.

The Megaman Zero games for the GBA were some of the best Megaman games.

This was my favorite game growing up as a kid. I love all mega man games but this one is the best (and the Legends series). Such an awesome action game, great characters, great music, just a solid game all around

This is one of the games that I replayed years later, and it was SOOOOOOOO hard. I don't know how I did it.

I wonder if James knew that he can get squashed by the bee when he went under it. Best place for filling etanks is in Launch Octopus. Where the enemies pop out from the ground, charge armadillo and stand on top. The order to beat them in can be argued.

Oh man, now I want to play. I think I'll hold off until the X collection comes out though, then I can save my progress and play it on the go.

Mega Man X games were the best

I'm surprised by how little you guys know about this game! Well, I guess I've played and beat it probably 200 times, but still! It's one of the best games on the SNES!

In the game options, you can change which buttons do what. I've always found it easier to change the dash function to "R". It makes it easier to dash while jumping and charging.

Not sure if you've completed this long ago, but there's a trick where you can dash and shoot enemies to do double damage, including bosses. Learned about it from GDQ of all things...works when dash jumping as well, just don't let go of the dash button. Can help against enemies you're lacking the weakness to. It also works on MMX2, but I think MMX3's bosses resist this technique.

Thats crazy. I literally just downloaded this for the 3ds virtual console over the 4th of july and have been replaying X, X2, X3 and also Megaman 7

I've played this game so many times in my childhood that I can play it no deaths until the bosspider. Such a great and fun game who aged so well.

Megaman X is one of my favorite games of all time. I also recorded a playthrough of this game, and it still holds up today. If you've never played it, I implore you to give it a try. (The purple guy's name IS Vile, BTW - he was even in the Megaman cartoon at one point.)

This game is amazing to this day. I also really like Maverick Hunter X, the remake for the PSP. Sadly, it being on the PSP, it's not that well known. You can even play as Vile in it!

Still one of the best soundtracks of the SNES era IMHO.

What an entrance when Zero enters the scene! X 1 2 and 3 were so important to me, the music, the gameplay, the story. And Zero is way cool

To get the Hadouken you need to get all powerup items, then reach the capsule with full health.

Mega Man X is still my favorite game of the whole series. It has the perfect challenge to it, the controls are great, the power ups and weapons are great, and it has kickass music. And for a game that is 30 years old, it's aged beautifully. It still looks amazing to this day.

Cool. Ive been playing this game every night, and i cant beat it. I'll definitely get through it now with a few of the tricks you showed off here.

1 of my top 10 all time favorite games. i recently replayed it with the SNES mini. i had a blast!

It's fun that you explain the Hadouken Fireball thing but don't inform James about the fact that the levels change depending on what boss you have or haven't beaten yet. For example, beating Storm Eagle makes the Spark Mandrill electric stage going dark and broken because his ship crashed on the power plant, and the mini boss with the bubble around it becomes easier due to the electric current shortage (the reason why he did the super attack in the video). Beating the Chill Penguin freezes the entire Flame Mammoth stage instead of having it lava filled, and so on. This was one of the things I loved most of all as a kid. And the fact that some bosses get hurt by special weapons in a unique way. Like when Armored Armadillo drops it's shields after a spark shot and changes the entire fight into a trivial one where he cannot defend anymore.

Got the X collection pre-ordered. I am ready.

Its beyond me how little they know about megaman X, giving the fact that they know almost every classic game and some obscures to... Fireball? Its a Hadouken... And you can change weapons with L and R (but I always change R to dash)...

Childhood favorite game can't wait for part 2

Mega Man X2 is the one I played the most. Mostly because I was broke and couldn't afford many new games. I played over...and over..and over...got so freakin' good at it that I had to start inventing challenges, like the no heart tank challenge, or the all X-buster challenge. Then finally, the no heart tank, all X-buster, defeat all 3 X-hunters challenge. That one took some effort....

Love this game. Usually beat it in around 1hr 15m Super fun and amazing design.

I had played this game on PS2 for a while and about 2 years ago bought a copy of this game for the SNES. A beautiful game visually and controls a great and kick ass sound effects. Great video dudes!

Forget the req's but the fireball you perform a hadoken and it one shots any enemy in the game

For me Storm Eagle's power was basically the Metal Man equivalent of this game. I used it like 90% of the time except for the few enemies it doesn't work on. Also, the upgrade that can charge weapons is in Flame Mammoth's stage but I think you need to the helmet upgrade to be able to get it.

You can also use L and R to change weapons instead of pausing. Also the X buster upgrade is the one that gives you the reddish big blast and the Hadouken is the one hit kill. Love the video guys and keep up the good work.

It took 9 years for them to release a new megaman game after we went through the 90s and early 2000s of constant games. Really hope its good.

Trying to not get frustrated when they pick stages out of order, they’d have plenty of time for the Hadouken if they went in proper sequence.

MMX is probably one of my most played SNES games. For Spark Mandrill, you can just stand still and shoot ice if you time it right. :D Fun stuff.

Gonna Get MMX Legacy Collection next week when it comes out! :D
