The flaw with this game is the box art of Mega man.

Great story and an even better memory.

Not only the terrible weapon balancing being an issue but some level design and boss issues too. Run out of weapon or item energy? Screw you

None of the Mega Man games have weapon balancing, also if that's a flaw then don't use the powers

The Wily stages might as well have been made by monkeys IMO which is another issue with MM2

Not bad except I don't like dealing with the Yoku Blocks in Heat Man's level.

Easiest way for me is Buster on Metal --> Metal on Wood --> Metal on Flash --> Metal on Bubble --> Wood on Air --> Air on Crash --> Flash and Crash on Quick --> Bubble on Heat

Metal wood/bubble flash quick air crash heat is what i always did as a kid. Prob from nintendo power and having the utility items to reach things in diff levels.

That, apparently, was a trend with many Japanese exported games. Japanese Game developers believed nobody outside Japan, the US in particular, were smart enough to handle their games, so some of them were exported with much of the difficulty cut. Hell, that's the main reason why we got Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Well, y'can always just look for the Rockman 2 rom... I liked 7 (and was a bit disappointed when Brentalfloss dissed it in a song, then everyone bandwagoned that 7 was bad because he said so), but actually disliked 8 and Rockman & Forte/Megaman & Bass for the same reason: the enemies in 7 _looked and moved_ like robots, while 8 and M&B/R&F everything was all cartoony and bendy, as if they were people in funny suits--- just like the early American box art. Also, beat 7, and Megaman was gonna finally do the prudent thing and _shoot Wily!_ At that point, Wily might not have improved the accidental "Bassinum" experiments to create Zero, so Sigma wouldn't become corrupted by the Virus (which may be related to the Roboenza virus Wily also hadn't deployed yet). No Maverick wars beyond the Hunters cleaning up Dr Cain's (a fucking _paleobotanist_ bootlegging Light AI) errors in reploids. No Sigma Virus, no Mother Elf needed (and also corrupted). I dunno the Z game's storyline well enough to say if the establishing events of those games would've still happened without Zero ditching his old body into Omega and getting his Armored Panties, or the fight with Wier. No Wier, no biometals of ZX. Meanwhile, without a corrupted Mother Elf, X never had to ditch his body to seal it, so he might've been around to continue Light's work-- or at least more adequately preserve his ideals and AI, so the-- again, problably bootleg off of Light's work-- AI of Megaman Juno and the Elysium Master System might not have been so genocidal to the human/reploid hybrid race (the Carbons of MM Legends). If only he had shot. I dunno, that's just my headcanon.

My favorite is everyone's favorite, X but if I had to choose out of the classics I have to say 9 is the best

Not really that much of a difference between Normal and Difficult. Things just take more hits. Instead of finishing Crash with firing the air tornados once (where two of the three has to hit him at the same time), you gotta hit him two or three times. Not that big of a deal, since it's all pretty straight forward. The only challenge is Quick Man, but you get the hang of him too. I agree on MM4 though, but that game was a hard sunovabitch! Much harder than MM2 in Difficult mode, to put it like that :) It gave you lots of enjoyment as a kid though. Endless amounts of replay value, until that late night one day, when you finally beat the game and saw the Wily skull mushroom cloud in the horizon. So wonderful!

Definitely agree with you about the weapons, esp. in MM2. Metal Blade is all you really need for the most part. MM9 however, I feel changed that, where the special weapons were needed in certain areas to advance, ie, Wily stage one utilizes the tornado and cement weapons as a necessity.

I'd even be OK with totally removing the power bar for the special weapons, even if that meant taking down their overall power level a little. More options for "primary" weapon would be very welcome!

That's how Mega Man 8 was done. You have one button that shoots the regular buster and another that shoots the currently selected sub-weapon. Unlike previous Mega Man games where only one sub-weapon can be on-screen at a time, you could mix them, like launch the Typhoon weapon to jump into the sky and have the lightning chain equipped to grab a high grappling point.

Mega Bondagemon You couldn't charge the Buster if you had a Weapon equipped in 8, though, you could only use the pellets.

II have to say megaman X but out of the classics 9 is my favorite

3 is good except for the doc robot levels, 6 & 7 were good but MM and Bass was the absolute worse because megaman is fun and fair difficult but that game was bullshit hard

7 was also awesome.

Wood Man really doesn't like Air Shooter, plus it can go through his shield easily if shot at point blank. And Metal Man seems to have a dislike of sharp things, be it Quick Boomerang or his own weapon.

Air beats crash because of reasons lol that was funny, cuz, science! Lol I think it has to do with the fact he jumps around everywhere and the air goes up and diagonally.

X series it's great. I agree, Megaman 2 was the best for me. Although, 3 is also very close to my heart.

I've played 1 through 6 on NES and the Sequel is the best of all. I had quite alot of fun playing the X series, pretty good memories.

Yeah, this was one of my favorite games growing up and I got pretty good at it so to mix things up I'd always try the robot masters in different order and try different weapons on each so I kind of found it by accident.

Yeah, MegaMan 7 is really fun to play despite what people says about that game. The music trame are great considering that's on SNES, the stages are pretty decent, appealing, clever and that's exactly what you expect from a mega man game and the challenge is quite there also when trying beating bosses - remember the final boss, in effect Wily, was quite difficult to beat that I've rented it few times before beating that game. I had alot of fun playing that game.

They definitely still got along. They are still friends. I think they just got burnt out doing these because they did it for nearly a decade.

***** You can download the NSF file with the music of the game you like from Zophar's Domain and use Foobar 2000 with its NSF player plug in to listen to the tracks and convert them to mp3 or other formats to use them as ring tones. It is a bit of work to do but totally worthy.

There are actually two difficulty settings in the US version. Normal and Difficult, which is the original japanese difficulty.

phineassprouse2 I have the Japanese version. There's no difficulty selection at all. It just says Press Start on the title screen. They added the easier 'normal' difficulty for the US release.

As others have said, they just changed the names of the difficulty settings. Other than that it's the exactly the same game.

My list is quite similar: 1. MM9 2. MM7 3. MM6 Also, if you count fangames, I'd say that MMUnlimited would take the 2nd place.

Don't really have an order but I really like MM2, MM3, MM5, MM6, MM9 & MM10. (The 8-Bit remakes of RM 7 & 8 aren't too bad either, imo)

I always just jump off item 2, grab the extra life, fire another item 2 and carry on, you have enough charge to make it assuming you are fully charged to begin with.
