Blaze Heatnix's stage, the Magma Area, from Mega Man X6 for the Sony Playstation PSX. No damage taken, buster only. Can you say "mini-boss"?
Here we have one of the most difficult X stages I've encountered yet to clear no-damage, buster-only. So many close calls. I particularly had a hard time with the fourth sub-boss Mechaniloid, called Nightmare Snakes. These have four cores, one on each corner, that collectively share the total health of the Mechaniloid. Therefore, each one must be targeted and destroyed individually to take down the Nightmare Snake. These Snakes are generally considered to be among the most irritating sub-bosses in the entire X series as there are six to destroy throughout the Magma Area. At least five must be taken out to reach Blaze Heatnix. It is also worth noting that on Easy Mode, the Nightmare Snakes do not shoot projectiles from its cores.
The Nightmare bugs will only be chased off momentarily by the buster. They can only be destroyed permanently by the Yammar Option. The bugs will often prevent fast movement such as long dashes and sudden direction changes. Their primary function however is to block your shots and provide constant barriers around X. The Nightmare Bugs are activated here after clearing Commander Yammark's stage. Blaze Heatnix's weakness is the Ground Dash or Sentsuizan.
