Garret's Evangelion watch plans reminds me of a friend who was a huge star wars fan, and didn't like The Last Jedi. He had like 5 or 6 tickets for separate showings with various people in his life. He didn't like it after the first watch, and his whole weekend was based on watching that movie.

Video games make more than movies. The trend of superhero movies is to try and get that same pull in of cash as video games from that same market of consumer. So they won’t be going away anytime soon.

I don't know Rocco plenty of people love these characters. There are lots of comic fans, and seeing Starro done like this was pretty surreal. Feels weird when people act like comics and the movies are tied at the hip, there are very different cultures and stories surrounding both and often there's not overlap between the fans of both.

The Suicide Squad felt like a breath of fresh air after Black Widow. I think it's relationship to the Suicide Squad doesn't really matter. In that way it's just like comic book continuity. Sure some of the characters are the same, played by the same actors, but it doesn't really have anything to do with the first Suicide Squad movie. It's not a remake. It's not necessarily a reboot either. It's just another comic book story. Like how Joker has nothing to do with any of the Batman films.

Australia's broadcasting of the olympics was absolutely too good. One single Free-To-Air TV Network set up about 20 online broadcasts or so for every single sport, and had a complete day-to-day schedule of when things would be on and a link to watch it AND almost all of them had dedicated commentary as well.

Oh Derick, so innocent... Olympics for many many years are a place for demostration of infra sctructure and power. They are not considered super humans for no reason. They don t mean as much anymore but the mentality stills on. Also, of course, there is a lot of money involved and a lot of sports are not as glamours so olympics are the greatest stage to snag some fat sponsorship.

I was definitely the Smelly Kid in school because I have no sense of smell, which I didn't know until maybe within the last 10 years (before then, I always just assumed I had a weak sense of smell and/or there was a particular "way" to smell that I didn't know). Now that I know I've never been able to smell, it's become clear why I had no friends.

The Olympics coverage in the U.K. was dire as well. For one, the BBC hold the rights so you can't watch it unless you have a TV license to watch live TV. Trying to watch catch-up content on their RU-vid channels, similar to what Shawn said, is super-biased: it's all Team GB highlights. I thought going on the Olympics website would give a free, impartial coverage to every event, but I don't think that was available? I'm sure there's some complicated, financial, sponsorship bullshit reason why that can't happen, but yeah - I barely watched any of it this year but a little bit of skateboarding highlights.

They should do a version of the Olympics where random citizens from each country get a letter from the Olympics and if you get picked you have to compete. During like off season of the professional olympians. That would be super entertaining. Think Hunger Games but Olympics. 😂

Talking about Suicide Squad (I haven't seen either yet), I love the director. James Gunn is really talented and legendary. His movies (thinking about Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2) are fun, funny, exciting, action packed, good characters, good soundtrack, good story, coherent, etc. Shame this new movie isn't getting many views, I think it will pick up in popularity, movies just aren't so hot right now.

I'm not a fan of James Gunn's movie making. Guardians were my least favorite mcu movies until Black Widow came out. I didn't think it was fair when he got fired but, part of me was really excited guardians would have a new director. Now he's back and the only thing about the 3rd movie I'm excited about is Thor.
