Um, YES it is. He wrote every guitar section, rhythm, solo and riff in that song. His tempo defined the drum beat (2/4 3/4 4/4) Any drummer could have played a beat to Daves original guitar writings. Hetfield added words so he should say he just wrote the words, not the song. Anybody could have made up words for this song. So yeah, without Dave first writing the whole song on guitar, those other people wouldn't been able to add onto it.
Except tha James and Lars are intelectual owners of the song too due to their contribution to it, Contrair to popular belief Dave didn´t wrotte the whole song, neither the riffs that he composed were in the order they appear in the song, that´s were James and Lars took place, improve it and finished it.

Someone, friend or family always say things that won't happen does. When managers, attorneys and the $$$ get into play...the least thing to do is not go up against toxic die hard fans. Jason will have to face "the thing that should not be" and perform with Megadeth to earn another Grammy award and to ensure their cast induction into the RRHOF. A goal and accomplishment he really should look forward to being a part of...money talks and remember...this is Dave Mustaine's show, but I'm sure he will let Jason be Jason
It's so strange seeing Jason Newsted without a bass in his hand. However, the man has a hell of a lot of energy! You don't see enough of that in older live performers! He also aged like fine wine. Damn, he makes 50 look good.

Damn right, not sure if it's been so long ago that I don't recall that Phantom Lord performance but it just cheered me up after shitty yesterday. I miss Newsted solo project, that band had a huge potential, only the music industry treated him just like 'tallica did which is sad. There were rumors about him joining Megadeth but obviously if he can't play Metallica songs, he couldn't play MD for sure these days with his arms condition.
They have only ever been "enemies" in Dave's mind, and while he stills get a bit schizo about the subject from time to time, he made his peace with them years ago.
I grew up around the guys from Exodus, Primus, Testament, Metallica, etc and it's kind of weird still to me that these guys all became so famous. I remember when we were all just teenagers at parties watching bands like Laaz Rockit inventing thrash metal before our inebriated eyes.

Mohamed Akhbar don’t replace lars, but replace Kirk and rob, liars are and James are what makes Metallica, if you go to a RU-vid video on Metallica and the video has Ulrich or het field on it, it will get significantly more views than a normal Metallica video of the same creator
@John Martin Cantorne that is the point of bass, newstead and burton are honestly some of the greatest bass writers in thrash, rob only fills in the basics, Jason and cliff both filled in backing vocals too, both were incredibly smart writers, I haven't seen rob doing anything special yet, hes nice, but hes no great player

yes.the song was made from two songs from previous hetfield's band Phantom Lord/Leather Charm,the titles of those two songs were"handsome ransome" and "Let's go Rock'n' Roll".Hetfield wrote those 2 songs with some help from Hugh Tanner.

That was badass. That scream at the end is what impressed me the most. Before that I was mildly impressed, but that was like "o.k, now that's impressive, I can see the strain on his face, neck and everything and that's intense. And he sustained that for a long time and ended it with a higher pitched one immediately after."
Who the hell is oxygen and lars is a founding member so there's never been an opening for a drummer for Metallica unless you mean a back up drummer or something.
Am I the only one that was hoping Newsted would become Megadeth's bassist after Ellefson left? The ex-members of Metallica joining forces to be an ironically better band would've been so awesome.

I saw Jason during the black album tour sing several songs of killem all and he was awesome..he has a great metal voice with deep growls..place went nuts when started singing..
Dave Mustaine did a great job singing as a matter of fact I got that Metallica album it's half James Hetfield singing half Dave Mustaine and Dave Mustaine did Hit The Lights and Seek and Destroy, in my opinion better
I love it when bands pay tribute to eachother. Anthrax's song for Dimebag comes to mind. It is really cool when done on stage. And here is Jason wearin' that shirt and walking around Dave in semi-circles like a cultist who just summoned his deity. hehehehehe
