Copolla himself said in his Career Breakdown with GQ that Megalopolis will be his take on the Catalinarian Conspiracy, which was the only attempt at an armed insurrection in Rome in around 62BC. The city the film takes place in is called New Rome and if you look at some of the character's names on IMDb it pretty much confirms this. He's just changed the setting from Rome to modern day New York. Add in Coppola's love of huge ideas and it sounds like it could be an absolute banger....or a mess. Fingers crossed for the former.
I loved Babylon. I love messy movies as long as they have really powerful themes. I think sometimes the messier the movie, the more powerfully the theme comes across. So I'm all in for this.
Trailer looks very, very solid! And the few words in there sound quite promising - maybe social criticism packed in a great production design. I liked babylon - especially the ending with Maguire 😂😊
the fact my brother didn't even recognise shia labeouf when i told him he was in this film. he was like 'oh i didn't know he was in this movie' bro he took up half the trailer! that's a solid justification for a makeup and hairstyling prediction at LEAST.
The music should out of this world, IMDB says music for film was composed by Osvaldo Golijov and Grace VanderWaal, music composers from opposite sides of the music world!
People are becoming aware that Coppola is bit of a weird guy who has consistently supported Victor Salva (pedo who directed Jeepers Creepers) and also was handsy with female extras on this film. That might affect the film's awards campaign.
Yeah when I found out on here (RU-vid) it was absolutely disgusting,I’m still going to check out the film and see what’s up .Any films this year you’re looking forward to ?
Look wild, might like it. Still the movie will either be bad or divisive. Don't think it'll be great. Will bomb at the box office, but 80 year old Copolla doesn't care. It's his dream project.
