I have to say, hearing those sound effects again after so many years made me incredibly nostlagic. I also remember the pedometer never working properly and taking an incredibly long time to trigger battles (sometimes upwards of 15 minutes of active shaking!)
I had the Megaman PET as a kid around the time Battle Network 4 was a new release. Holding it for the first time made me feel pretty cool, but as time went on, I realized you had to buy the Chips to support it and well... Mom and Dad werent willing to support a hobby like that.
A nice review of the Advanced PET. To note we actually did not get all the chips in the US, most ended up exclusives to Japan. But this was not the only PET released in Japan, in fact every version of the PET (except the first one) was released as a toy in Japan and I believe they functioned similarly to the Advanced PET. There is an Element you missed - Wood. And it’s more or less a Rock->Paper->Scissors situation. Fire
I had a cousin that was more well privileged and he gave me a red pet i remember! He was always kool with me. He would also give me Lego minifigures because he would get so many sets and some have the same figures..
My brother and I had these. I had the Proto Man one and my brother had the Megaman one. Cool toy back then. The battlechips were authentic as hell too. It could've been much cooler than like playing a puppy care simulator, but it was decent software. There were different versions for these P.E.Ts. I had this one. I like the original large PET design though
My siblings and I had these things. I wish one of us went for the Protoman design, even if it was just aesthetic. Still, I played a lot with this, and I definitely remember the action figures of the time each being bundled with a chip or two.
I remember these coming out and wanting one with some chips. I never had either... Also, for a review suggestion, Rumble Robots and the cards you'd scan for them
Thank you..battke network will always one of my favouritr game..i never know there's actually a real PET until now.i only play normal tamagochi and digivice back when i was a kid
Oh man I love this toy, in 2005 I had both megaman and protoman version but I wasn't a carefully children and broke both as well... Nowadays I ordered a new one from ebay the Bass version and I enjoying so much play this game again.
I really like the toy i always wanted one never gotten one. I ask my dad to have one for my Birthday or Christmas, but he's just straight-up said "NO". Five or six years later my dad thought it was time to buy me one and found out that they were discontinued and no store's have them... ..yeah thanks dad.
Hi there❤ Great stuff I really enjoy your content!! What songs did you use in your video? They all sounded very familiar from games I've played in the past
I had this as a kid. I'd only had one battle, which I lost because I wasn't prepared for it, and then it never got another battle for the rest of my life.
I remember having a sword chip for buying a Megaman action figure, the one where it crosses up with Protoman so i had to change Megaman's pieces from his stock form to Protoman's cross form. I always wondered how the chip worked on the PET, and now that i see it i think i didn't missed out on anything, even 4.5 Real Advance was a downgrade from the gameplay of the mainline BattleNetwork games.
I wanted a PET so much as a child, but they didn't sell them in my country and no adult, at the time, trusted purchasing online. I remember checking a site of a US store and there was a section with PET product for every character, like how you get them in the series. I don't remember what was there specifically for each character. Do you by any chance know about the exclusive PET's characters' product?
Really nice video very interesting some others have shown there is a whole bunch of different battle chips with different colors sadly in Japanese only. I really hope capcom revisits this idea with a smartphone app since that is basically what a PET is.
I remember I had one I think it was blue and had a few chips. I don’t remember much after the battery died. Maybe the battery died. But that sound to put a chip in. Vivid sound.
Here in Brazil, where I live, this same commercial from the beginning was shown exhaustively, but this toy was very expensive. A kid once took one of these to school and the teacher confiscated it because the asshole was shaking it in class. The problem is that the teacher left it on top of her desk, which faced a window that gave access to a corridor. Some boy in the class who took physical education stole the Vpet by passing his hand through the window, leaving only the chips, which were useless by themselves. The owner of the vpet was very angry, but the rest of the class and I laughed a lot because he was always nasty
In a world where everyone is carrying the IRL version of a PET in the form of a smartphone, it's a travesty no one has been daring enough to create a mobile game like the Megaman NT Warrior/Battle Network series. Obviously, your character doesn't have to be a literal AI and whatnot but come on... QR code technology BEGS for this.
Regarding the chip name and cp variants the first wave of chips had the names but then drop them so it is why you see similar chips having a name or cp. Also booster packs don't work the way you think ... each booster has a 5 combination of 5 chips per character in the packaging (3 in the us while a 4th was released in Mexico and Australia) the chip in the front of the packaging dictates what combination of chips you'll get . If you buy two booster packs with the same chip in front you will get the exactly the same chips . The later boosters has a checklist
Note japan boosters actually work like booster packs in a card game , you will have an easier way finding them by searching for rockman (megaman's Japanese name) Japan releaseed all 300 chips while Americans did not have 150 of them nor did we get the Navi chips.
Also the only compatible game we got was battle network 4 , but the gate itself never came out in America. There is another Japanese exclusive game where it works and the gamelan is altered in a way where you do not have direct control of your character instead you would command them like in the anime
Looks like yours has been opened before. On the outside of where the ball sits there should be a ring of foam around the plastic. I'm assuming it helps with the noise a little.
I loved this as a kid. Was searching far and wide to find this video. Megaman battle network was amazing as a kid. Thanks for uploading. Still ahead of its time haha :)
met robot, wrong, is a virus. BOSS? No, basic enemy. Next you did not use the tornado chip in that last round as you kept missing the slot in, same with bubbler the first time. You put it in to slow, you would need to select the mega buster pick no and then it would give you the option to slot in again.
