A realization: The skull that shoots X and Zero at the end has little to no indication of it actually being Sigma. Sigma's eyes are usually either white or blue, the scars aren't colored in, the text refers to it as "??" just like the hologram of Dr. Light, and skulls with blocky teeth were never Sigma's motif. Not to mention this entire game's final levels had implied that Sigma had explicitly teamed up with Zero's creator. Dr. Wily.
Man. I played this as my first megaman game when I was a kid. It's 2024 and I've spent so long searching thru megaman videos just to find which one I played. It's so nostalgic.
The final fights against Sigma in the X series were the most tense and grueling end game battles I ever enjoyed Sigma always gives a good fight. My favorite last battles in the X series are X3,X1,X5.
Ahhh man this brings me back. I could never kill the big statues in the second part of this battle. It was SOOO frustrating. But its finally nice to know what happened :D
Anyone notice that First Form Sigma's patterns are very similar to his X1 self? He even does the cape thrown thing. All that he's lacking is the light saber.
Most of Sigma's first forms are references to characters in other fiction. The zig zag pattern is a reference to Sigma from X1 and 2, and I think the design they were going for was M. Bison from Street Fighter.
Awesome play. I was fighting Sigma just now. I got off since it's giving too much trouble (also on Xtreme mode) right now. So I came here to see some strategies to defeat him... ~_~ For people who have different endings and questions: There are 3 types of endings. 1) If Zero turned maverick and is gone, then you will see X his army reparing the base and the city around them.
Damnit,I wish I was alive longer in the days where games were generally badass like this. I was born in 1997,all the cool stuff was finishing by then(megaman,PSX games, metroid, stuff like that).
Capcom was getting lazy with creating animations. None of all that awesome movement that Sigma in X4 had in his first fight here. This looks really lazily made looking back at it after years. Sigma has like maybe 3 animation frames in his first form. Lol
Very lazy battle, both in terms of visuals and design. It has nothing on awesome MMX4 final fight. And rendered Sigma's head doesn't look menacing or cool. It's just...there.
***** I know. Look at the animation frames for Sigma in his first form here. Then look at his X4 version after you burn off his reaper cloak. Doesn't have nearly as much charisma like they threw this together in a few days. He especially looks shitty here dashing from wall to wall.
No, I'm using Camtasia Recorder and video editing the video myself with VirtualDub. I was playing this at 320x240 resolution on my 1280x1024 desktop since I had to maximize recording quality and max performance
Does anyone else realise that Sigma's final form is just two hands and a giant 3d image of his head? TBH, only young kids wouldn't realise that. The only thing they would think is "Hey, why does Sigma look 3d when he was 2d a moment ago?"
This brings me back old memories! Impressive! Despite relying on Giga Attack (the Nova Strike or something) of X's Ultimate Armor, I still need the life tanks, I suppose! Hmm... come to think about it, there's a contraction. In the ending, X fights alone without Zero 3 years later. But in X6, the scenario takes place 2 weeks after Zero's disappearance -and he did come back in that game.
try to be at the ground when he summon those cubes then jump and stick to the wall and jump to the other side, repeat until they disappear , dont try to attack sigma
its my personal opinion that, after playing through X1-X3 none of the playstation bound MMX titles where of any difficulty as compared to the older games of the series, which is a shame. I remember Kaiser Sigma from MMX3, he fired way more things to dodge than that Head thing what sigma became, its appauling.
today i tried fighting the x5 sigma and well you make it look easy. i can for the most part get to second form with little to no damage but i have trouble dodging his purple cube attack. you make it look easy. very nice job
X5 was intended to be the last game. Zero's death/disappearance was picked up in the MMZ series, but with X6, that had to be changed to incorporate the story better. Zero is resurrected in the MMZ series, where at the end of X6 he seals himself to remove all traces of the Sigma/Zero virus. In the end, Zero is revived while X is sealed away to stop the Dark Elf (MMZ2).
although I haven't played X5 yet for myself, my (2nd) megaman game ever was x6.. and I was 9 then lol. now I'm huge MegaMan fan. X5 is next on my list and I'll be caught up. but anywho: I personally think a huge part of that has to do with the fact that Keiji Inafune originally wanted the series to end with X5, but Capcom wanted the X series to continue. so pretty much everything after X5 was plotted by Capcom, not so much Keiji himself.
When they refer to X later in the series and in the Megaman Zero series and call him a "legendary Maverick Hunter", these are the mad skills they're referring to. :P
Hmm, I don't know... Somehow the pre-rendered 3D-graphics and especially the background graphics seem rather clumsy for me. Even the amount of animation seems lower, though that may be just my imagination.
1, continued) X also won't remember Zero. 2) It's the same ending shown in this video. You get this one if X and Zero are still alive (still selectable to play). 3) If you chose Zero to fight Sigma, X isn't included in the ending. You will only see Zero heavily damaged on the floor. His memory data will run through his head revealing stuff about his past (including that unknown man he talked about when you get the Armor Upgrade in Crescent Grizzly's stage, if you played as Zero).
Don't worry, Capcom also did the same thing to the Battlenetwork series where not only did they make countless sequels on the gameboy advanced, they made another series on the DS based on the same concept.
@SuperSketch008 Notice how in the Zero intro Zero is missing Limbs in the first picture. Probably because Sigma Killed him. The story wasn't changed at all to fit in Megaman X6.
This was supposed to be the last Mega Man X game in the X series hence all the references they make to previous games. As far as I know, Sigma's final form in this game is supposed to be a reference to Gamma from Mega Man 3 who was the final boss.
I agree. Controls on X were a little rough, especially, I found, playing as Zero (i.e., dash completely interrupts walking flow, etc.). In the actual Zero games though, everything's so smooth.
:o Well as long as you know the weaknesses, and you know how to use the weapons everyone gets, you shouldnt have problem, except maybe on the missile level, which I always leave it for last :P
There were 3 endings: Beat game as X, with Zero going maverick, and you get the one where X doesn't even remember Zero (because Zero isn't there to protect X from sigma) Beat game as X, with Zero not going maverick, and you get the normal one. Because Zero kills sigma's head before he can damage X more. Beat the game as Zero (of course, with zero not going Maverick) and you get Zero's only ending.
So, has 3 weaknesses: In his first form it's like an electric shock as for his second form, well if a player chooses X Sigma's weakness is the Spike Ball the weapon from Axel The Red and if the player chooses Zero Sigma's weakness is the twin dream
I was referring to how: 1) before the events of MMZ, the majority of the human population is wiped out 2) All the guardians, Copy X (twice), Omega (who has Zero's original body), and Weil (twice as well) die 3) in MMZ4, Craft destroys Neo Arcadia with Ragnarok, killing off the majority of Neo Arcadian humans that were remaining there 4) Zero (possibly?) dies for the final time
It's actually sort of nostalgia, because when I was like 8 or 7 we had a PSX in Tunisia and I used to play x7 on it(or whichever one it is that starts with the crashed spaceship thing in the desert)but because I was too young I never played it seriously.Similarily,I used to have Metroid Fusion on my nintendo DS but I gave the DS away, including all the cool zelda games and stuff I had. Now,I'm trying to beat the SA-X boss fight on Metroid Fusion with an emulator. :)
Is it just me, or is Sigma very um... flamboyant in this game? I guess he's in touch with himself. Now I want all the Megaman X games! (Except for X4, since I already got it.)
Me During first battle: Level 25 huh? Quite tricky! (Second battle) Level 96?! (Pauses game and does some calculations) Me: 0_0 His power is OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else feel that X5 should have been the definitive end to the X series? I really liked the cliffhanger ending and the fact that Zero was finally at peace. Then they went and ruined everything with X6-X8.
You do realize that the whole Freeza being the end was a rumor right? We have no confirmation as to whether or not Freeza was meant to be the final boss of DB (yes I'm calling DBZ DB because it is still DB). Hell, Akira Toriyama wanted to end it with Empereor Pilaf.
If they had just ended the X-Series here like Keiji Inafune wanted to instead of making X6 without his knowledge and kept going, and introducing a bunch of characters nobody cared about, the X-Series would have been beyond epic. In my mind, I still consider this the end.
