Plus concerning the fact that INAFUNE NEVER MEANT TO CONTINUE THE SERIES PAST X5, I think it's safe to say that both games pretty much killed x8's chance of success. Yeah I get x7 threw off people from buying x8, but I kind of feel like x6 was the worst culprit in that situation. Besides, I hate that game more 'cause of how much of a shameless money grab it felt. The development time, the translation, the rushed and extremely broken level and boss design, the fact that it should've never existed in the first place (a definite reason why I hate it more than x7 (at least I can say it was more finished, even if some of the stuff was sloppily executed, and kind of botched with some characters)) and overall a complete and utter mess of a game. I seriously feel like people are bashing x7 just a bit too much. I mean yes I understand why people would hate it, I'm not saying it's gold or anything. But I think it's more of a sloppily executed waste of potential than something that deserves the bashing, unlike x6. I liked some ideas, like the character switch and while the 3D gameplay was a bit botched, it felt more like an experiment, so I kind of gave it some slack. However I'm aware that there were a few problems with the characters like X's flanderization and the choice of voice clips (what with the elephant in the room being Flame Hyenard), but at least the story felt more coherent and easy to follow, so I at least had some positive to go by. So overall x7 to me was a game with interesting ideas and a huge ambition, but had an overall sloppy execution.
Both are equally bad. X6 was filled to the brim with artificial difficulty due to shoddy level design, the atrocious nightmare system, and horrid enemy placement. X7 was a lousy jump from 2D to 3D

1. Make some space in your bedroom big enough to stretch out your body 2. Get a pencil and paper 3. Write out SET1 to SET10 4. Turn on a stopwatch 5. Turn on MegaMan X8 Boss Theme Extended at 1.25 speed 6. Immediately begin executing 10 SETS of 30 push-ups with 20 second rest intervals in-between each SET, cross out each SET you complete (so you don't lose track of where you are). 7. Enjoy the burn and the fast music to keep you pumped up to make it to the 10th/final SET! 8. Acknowledge that you just did 300 push-ups with the help of music from MegaMan X!
X1 = A classic, kickass tune. X2 = Not bad, but could have been better. X3 = WHY IS THIS LOOP SO GOD DAMN SHORT X4 = Repetitive, sounds more like an alert or escape theme. X5 = Perfect One on One Duel music X6 = Why am I getting serious 1970s vibes? X7 = Hectic, chaotic, unpredictable. Just like the members of Red Alert. X8 = I don't want to fight you, but I have no alternatives.
I just love how this bosses aren't Mavericks by virus (like in X5 where the ones that are going to become Mavericks ask you to destroy them before that happens) but by PURE choice
x1 - iconic x2 - repetitive but good x3 - slow and repetitive, bad x4 - good x5 - good x6 - the guitar riff sfx you hear tortures the ears x7 - good x8 - best one

Cara a Capacom fez o X8 com o intuito de corrigir a cagada q eles fizeram no X7, grande parte foi até corrigida, mas deixou algumas coisas a desejar msm assim foi uma ótima serie hehe
This sounds like a darker and scarier version of the Mario and Sonic Olympics rival theme. I can imagine this being used for tougher bosses like Scourge, Cackletta, Finitevus, Anatasma, Smithy, and Grubba.
If they ever do an X9 I hope it’s not the Elf wars. The Maverick wars need to end first and in order for that to end the Mother Elf needs to be made. So we need a game that leads to that.
Haven't heard this song in ages. Mega Man X8 is the only X game I've never once revisited as of yet, after beating it the first time (including beating it with the navigators). Mostly because, while the game itself was fundamentally fun, the grind for money was utterly obnoxious.
Here just to let you know that there is demake currently being working on, there is a demo available and i can’t recommend it enough, it is super good.
