Ironically, Will Ferrell is apparently voicing the villain in Despicable me 4. What amuses me the most is just how dumb these people must think we are. They actually had the balls to use clips from the original movie which came out FOURTEEN years ago, and apparently thought no one would notice the DRASTIC change in animation quality. Look, we all get it. Straight to streaming movies NEVER get the time or the love that theatrical releases do. But they couldn't have followed the established lore of the first movie a *little bit*? Megamind having an "old crew" makes absolutely no sense because the whole point of the first movie was that he was an outcast and it was he and Minion against the world. When, where and HOW did he meet those miraculous lady bug rejects?
IKR? What disappoints me is that when I first heard there was another Megamind movie, I actually got a little bit excited, mainly because the first movie was pretty good. Then I saw the actual trailer, and my hopes went down pretty quickly...
@@ememes0150 I choose not to consider it cannon, I know I won't even be watching it. It technically can't even be called a movie because it's just a Segway to the animated series they're doing. Kinda like Monsters vs Aliens was.
Ikr that shit made me laugh so much just because they really thought they had a good product on their hands. But now we aren't getting a good megamind 2 on the other hand
If not it looking like spider-verse then at least make it look like the first movie i am actually convinced my flipaclip animations look better than this crap and i dont even think that cuz of me making it maybe they just look better cuz they are 2-d
The genius of this video comes from the fact that Megamind and Despicable Me were compared a lot when they both first released due to their similar concepts.
I heard that back when they released, Megamind was released a few months after Despicable Me, therefore some people must've saw it as a knock-off film.
Megamind Vs Doom Syndicate trailer : High hopes turns into Dissapointment ( story was out of point ) and Hilarious ( Funny bad movie ) Despicable Me 4 : Minor hopes turns into some fine and worry ( missing casts )
My mom bought both of them for me after school, I was surprised how both of these animations were about a bad guy turning good and I got them both at the same time.
@@georgzkefallinoz2250no movie ever really needs a second, however if one does make one there should at the _very least_ be the same effort as in the first one. It should be in line with what the first movie did unless it goes onto a completely different plot, but that plot still has to respect already established points from the first movie. This? This is a downgrade in every single way.
@@liamjm9278 to be honest, you taking an adaptation of a book series that was already written, rewritten and edited by an author nearly a century ago. So practically most of the work was already done for them there. So not really a great comparison there. Honestly the only reason to do a sequel is if there is a story to tell continuing from the previous one. The real issue is I don't think the studios actually cared if there was a story to tell and is just jumping on the fans resurgence of Mega Minds popularity because Franchise. In honesty, the MCU has had a horrible influence on films in multiple ways.
@@kainoaharris6097I mean I thought it was a bit cringe watching megamind have to learn the same message he probably learned a week ago but still a banger of a short.
Vs Doom Syndicate: *Megamind struggling to fit his hero role, 21st century pacing, writing, and humor* Button Of Doom: *Megamind struggling to fit his hero role but does it so well at the end but then Doom Syndicate just eradicated that development, better writing as it is more plot-centered for a short film, better understanding on how heroism works, and ending up as a hero while still staying as himself.*
In the entire Trailer Roxxane blinked ONCE. She looks like she had lost her eyesight and is blind but still tries to look at where she supects Megamind
_I know the focus of this video is how the new megamind streaming stuff sucks_ But can we appreciate how damn joyful gru was during the beginning scene? Seriously, dude looks genuinely happy with a loving family of three adopted Daughters and going on about his day!
The fact that a Despicable Me movie ( an Illumination franchise that many people DESPISE because of the Minions) shows more promises than a Megamind show tells me something is wrong with Dreamworks and Peacock. Imagine stooping this low than Illumination of all people. ILLUMINATION.
@@waluigihentailover6926yeah, it’s called the button of doom. It has good animation, actually has will Ferrell as Megamind, and the story is surprisingly not bad.
@@osycotic I wasn’t talking about Megamind vs the doom syndicate, I was talking about that short film that came when the original movie came out in dvd
The original animation looked smoother and the characters were "squishier" so they looked more expressive, like in traditional 2d animation. This looks so stiff and robotic...
Not only is it not Will Ferrel..... but it's not even a sound-alike. Truly masters at work. It's impressive just how many things companies can do wrong and still feel good releasing something like we wouldn't notice.
0:16 I love how the context of this video implies that the Megamind fan really did have a horrible date but doesn't care because he's too excited by the Megamind 2 announcement. Makes his eventual disappointment even sadder.
@@Jurassic-boyyy23 Yes, that’s true. But I’m not really looking forward to that. Although, Jack Black is a great actor, I hope he makes another song for the next Mario movie.
In terms of the OG Doom Syndiacte, we have no OG Doom Syndicate. (The OG Doom Syndicate is from that one Megamind video game, the one we got is from the sequel)
Kung Fu Panda 4 and Despicable me 4 have got to be masterpieces as seen from the trailer, it's been so long since the last movie to the point where most of the people born in 2006 are now 18.
I was a little skeptical about the idea, but I thought maybe I could be cool… then I watched the trailer and saw this no budget “ movie” made for four year olds… and I immediately realized sometimes you shouldn’t worry about what you want and you should just be glad with what you have. 0:56 this moment is kind of cute.
The fact that we live in a timeline where a mid looking Despicable Me product is more anticipated than a Megamind sequel after waiting 14 YEARS for you would be absolutely hilarious, if it wasn’t so truly devastating. And the absolutely irony of having Will Ferrel as DM4’s villain is just the icing on the cake.
@@smartass643 it was good, but i feel like it could’ve been better. In my opinion it was too short and lacked depth. I still liked it, but i prefer these two
@@PandaSlothProductions That was the only problem I had with the movie. Yes, in my opinion it's one of the best animated movies I've seen which made me wanna rewatch it more than once, but the pacing could've been a little bit better.
Well they did announce that it was going to be a peacock exclusive so expected the quality to be not as good, and I remember the name originally being Megamind: Key to defending your city
I get that. But like another comment on this video said: at least have some of the lore from the original movie. Since when did Megamind get a crew of Skylander/Miraculous-ahh villians?
Since it's also getting a follow up series, I would guess that this movie was originally the show's premiere episodes that they stitched together into a movie
Even Gru is bummed out about the Megamind sequel. Ok jokes aside, this was fun and how i went from knowing that this is the sequel to Megamind. But yeah at least Despicable me 4 is here to lighten the mood. It even has Will Ferrell in it thats awsome.
Now that you included Despicable Me clip, you just realized both movies released in the same year AGAIN!!! So it's Megamind 2 battling against Despicable Me 4 Despicable Me 4 won here for me already
@@ememes0150With Illumination’s recent track record with Mario, Rise of Gru, and (I heard it was good) Migration, I’m genuinely excited about how Despicable Me 4 might turn out
I dunno. Star Wars fans had to deal with an entire trilogy and some subpar Disney tv shows. So they're probably eating worse. But at the very least, Megamind fans are nowhere near as low as Star wars fans to send death threats to the new voice cast (probably aside from a few "trolls" here and there but still)
Not only did Will Ferrell decide to voice for Despicable Me 4, but it also reminds me of the time Dreamworks had Eddie Murphy taken to Shrek 2 and Mulan had to find a new voice due to a contract between them and Disney. So Dreamworks did Disney and Illumination did them. What a streak their movies had.
My headcannon now is that Gru and Megamind are best friends since they both came out around the same time and are based on virtually identical premise. Now Gru is disappointed about how they massacred his boy.
You know in 10 years some teen will say "megamind is my fav show" and you will get happy as a 30 yr old but then youngling says " i meant megamind 2 , its my favorite one "
I'm outraged at the fact that the animation looks like it was supposed to be a crappy, cash-grab show, not a movie people have been wait 14 years for. also the idea of mega mind having to fight a villain crew isn't bad, but having to fight HIS old villain crew just doesn't make sense in his backstory.
In my honest opinion, I completely agree with you, but I don’t have very high hopes for Dm4. It has good animation and the usual Minion humor of course but its plot so far seems very rushed and cliche like Dm3.
