This is one of Megatron's finest plots. He doubled down on human stupidity, and eagerness to jump at anything, and got exactly what he wanted, maybe even easier than he anticipated. I think we should learn something from this episode, and not believe everything we see on the news.

This episode really lived up to it's title. It was one of Megatron's best schemes.

Amazing how easy the populace fall for whatever is on tv and actually believe it is real. Effectively, how people act in real life.

Simple question: "What would happen if the Autobots lost and the Decepticons won?" That question was asked by many fans, and no doubt letters were sent. When the fans got this episode, they probably thought their suggestion was the response. In actuality, the episode was being written and produced before the letters even came in. As kids, we just didn't know enough details about how animated TV episodes were made. It wasn't from lack of intelligence; it was just from lack of knowledge.

Mr Berger was like the J Jonah Jameson of the Transformers, broadcasting fake news and also having a hatred for such thing called "hero".

I know it all turned out to be a ruse but the idea of Autobots being evil and Decepticons portrayed as heroic figures would help inspire the Shattered Glass series many years later with the roles of both Transformers factions reversed

I find it really awesome that the Live Action Transformers Movies pulled Plot Points right out of the Original Cartoon. They used the Solar Needle from Changing Gears as the inspiration for the Star Harvester in RotF, and they used the Bring Cybertron to Earth and Humans turning on Autobots ideas from The Ultimate Doom and Megatron’s Master Plan respectively.

I always felt that "Cosmic Rust" would have been the perfect season ender, due to the battle at the Statue Of Liberty. But now, thinking about it, I am gonna walk that back, and say that this two parter would have been better for the Season 2 finale. It's a two-parter, it had a pretty solid plot, had an intense cliffhanger (for this episode), and had a wild battle for the second part, and the final scene felt very fitting to close out the season.

I always wondered... what kind of arbitrary football stadium court has the authority to sentence alien robots to exile from the planet? It would be tough to even legally define the Autobots as "illegal aliens", since in this continuity, they were on Earth for millions of years before humans even existed on the planet! 😁

So, the authorities came out guns blazing to arrest Autobots as soon as they are framed, but they never bothered doing the same for Decepticons? It's scary that this situation is quite believable.

Except I would’ve had other Autobots appear even in non speaking roles like Hoist, Skids, Windcharger, Perceptor, Blaster, Omega Supreme, Cosmos, Powerglide, Seaspray, Jetfire, Blaster (think he appeared in this episode?), Red Alert, Rewind, Eject, Steeljaw, Ramhorn, Top Spin, Twin Twist, Roadbuster, Whirl, Springer, Sandstorm, Broadside, Grimlock, Slag, Sludge, Snarl and Swoop. Actually the Dinobots would not have been pleased about surrendering. Maybe have them go on the run? Have the ark repaired by this episode and have it as a transportable base maybe? Apart from the Dinobots on the run. Prime could have left a group in hiding to clear their name? Similar to a group he left behind when he and others were taken to Cybertron in a Dreamwave storyline. Other Decepticons that could’ve appeared are Frenzy, Rumble, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Octane, Reflector Trio, the Constructicons, the Insecticions and the Deluxe Insecticons. It puzzled me that Spike, Sparkplug and Chip didn’t go with the Autobots? Remember Spike and Sparkplug were going to go to Cybertron at the end of More Than Meets The Eye.

I wonder where. Soundwave, Reflector, Thrust, Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Shrapnel, Kickback, Bombshell, Scrapper, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Hook, Bonecrusher, Scavenger. When the autobots got on the rocket while Megatron, Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Dirge, Ramjet. Were at the autobots departure.

I’ve watched this TV series almost 40 years ago, but I am already watching the second season of the series which features make a trans master plan because his plan is the frame the Autobots, and have them exiled from earth so that he could drain the planet dry of its energy resources.

The only pre-movie characters who couldn’t have rationally / logically appeared in this (two parter) episode are (Autobots) the Aerialbots and Protectobots, and (Decepticons) the Combaticons and Stunticons, as, although they all technically made their debuts in season 2, it was in the later half / part of season 2 (these four combiner teams didn’t exist at the time this two parter episode was made). On top of that, had we gotten more episodes (and in the States), after part 3 of ‘Headmasters’ (aka ‘The Rebirth’), would we have seen Starscream again? I ask out of curiosity.

And this will teach the rest of the human race how dirty and manipulating the decepticons really are. Since we had problems for millions of years and the humans are still learning how vicious and cunning they are. So let's not argue and leave this planet autobots and teach these humans a lesson. We're sorry spike spark plug and chip". It's like the autobots owe a debt to those 3 humans. The autobots are so glad they met them.
