It's not that out of nowhere, really: Everyone likes to give Soundwave loyalty props, but G1 Shockwave was just as, if not more loyal. He just didn't get much time to shine.

Didn't different iterations of Starscream usually get into love-hate altercations with Blackarachnia, Windblade or Slipstream? My headcanon is that Starscream is rarely picked by chicks because everybody thinks he's gay or at least exclusively gay. And then there's Jetfire/Skyfire but, emmm, who knows. I was just commenting how boy's toy lines never had the obligatory wedding merchandise girls toys did. Megs and Shockwave can talk to the Pony franchise about the details, there were like, half a dozen different wedding themed releases minimum. including the G4 when the bride had to fight off an invasion of giant bug horses.
