Recently I happened to attend a music program by Ranjani and Gayathri the famous South Indian singers. The title was Raaja by Raaga. They took some of the ILayaRaja’s (the great composer of music) movie songs and analyze them with classical Karnatik music. And showed the audience how the Raagaas were used in his songs . Beautiful! Patdeep has been a favourite since I heard it first in 1988 on a MusicToday cassette. Only then I recognised this song as Patdeep. As a child I loved this and Khilte hain gul yahan from Sharmilee. Still can’t sing Kishoreda’s version of Khilte … too difficult. Also curious about the lyrics of Megha chayi. It’s an afternoon raga that talks about the night.

राहुल जी, तुम्ही खूप छान गायले आहे. स्वरा तील आर्तता, ओढ लागलेला आवाज सारे काही भावून जाते. शिवाय गाण्याचे रूप स्वरासह शिकवतात. आम्हा नवोदितांना खूप शिकवता. मी रोज अनेकदा हे गीत ऐकतो. माझ्या परीने रियाज करतो. हार्मोनियम वर वाजवतो. तितकीशी सराव नाही झाला, पण तुमचे गाणं ऐकत म्क्षणतो. खरच हे गुरू ज्ञान आहे. तुमची अनेक गीते मी ऐकतो। खूप शिकायला मिळते. धन्यवाद.
