Yep I do agree, he should've been arrested a long time ago. And that is unforgivable of him being protected because of privilege. But although I empathise greatly with harry and Meghan for the struggles they had with adapting to a completely different way of life for meghan. They should have left, and got on with their lives instead of completely trashing the royal family. They didnt need to do that. They've just left a complete hurricane of anger and resentment in their wake. They should have dealt with it privately. MSM in the UK is trash, and in USA. Theyve made it 100 times worse. And the releasingnof lockdown coming, all those people who've died and been left destitute by the pandemic. And you get these people complaining about their lot with a multimillion pound lifestyle! @@Cosmic-lover293 i don't think it is fair to demand Megan and Harry to be silent, when things are said about them that are not true and they are accused in the media. People should have the right to respond to the accusations and character assasination thats going on. And harry even said he feels sympathy for the royal family, but in the end its (apparently) their decision to remain silent. And they had a press release that addressed the interview. I'm not sure the policy not addressing things more is wise, but each are doing it. I'm not sure that if people are demamding for meghan/harry to uphold the behaviour of the royals (not to vote, not to speak publicly etc) about but not have protection, funding is fare. Either they have a right to be active members of the society with same rights as everyone else or they are given protection and support and funding from the palace and royal family.

I'm sure MM has had a really tough time, I empathise with her very much for that. It's not easy fitting in that institution. Yes everyone entitled to their opinion. But royalty cannot vote etc, they're there to be impartial. You can't forge a career out of the royal title and not want anything to do with being a royal. I mean, they're famous because of harry at the end of the day. They chose to leave and are well able to pay for their own protection, they're multi millionaires. Oof. The part about avoidant attachment and a disengaged family hit hard. I come from an abusive family and it's 100% as you describe. Their behavior is polite but at a deeper level, it's really cold. On paper, everything looks good and well, but also everything is kept very shallow. None of us really know each other. Emotional displays or emotional conversations are not welcome, and are considered troublesome or even punished. It's an incredibly painful and confusing environment to grow up in, and I imagine coming into that world without having been a part already would be so awful. Being born into it was awful. Joining... and having the power to leave? Leave. She's right to address that type of emotional abuse and neglect.

And even now we struggle to know what it is to feel like real people and not invisible. I was the 'troublesome one' and she was 'the perfectionist'. Same prison. There were only roles handed out for us so we did not get to emerge as if we actually lived in our own bodies, our own space. We both left and raised our own kids in a more authentic way. There's definitely a history of this sort of thing happening. Not only with Diana, but also look at the comparisons with Wallace Simpson and King Edward VIII. Wallace being a divorced American woman, and Edward having to give up his royal role to move to America to be together. The media even in the 1930s absolutely ripped into Wallace. There's so many parallels to multiple times in royal history. Edit: I am from the UK, and definitely believe that the tabloids have been cruel to Megan. I'm happy that Harry has stood by his wife and cared for her - doing much more than Charles did for Diana!! I do think the interview won't help them either. It is natural to want to say your piece, however the tabloids will now start trying to pick holes in their story and find "evidence" for them being wrong. There's also bad timing with Prince Phillip being in hospital long-term. I hope they find the peace they both deserve, and wish them and their children well.

Harry is pretty much a middle age man, he has finally settled down after a wild youth party boy soldier and has now matured into a fine family man. He has a beautiful wife and I think there are a lot of people who are just jealous of her. She is a woman who was independent with a great career before she married Harry so its not like she married for money. The tabloids around this issue: are horrendous. And not even the tabloids, tbh, even the high-minded papers are in on the act - the Telegraph this week ran an opinion piece which said that "The saddest thing is that Wallis and Edward, despite being banished, were dutiful and patriotic to the end...Meghan and Harry, who took it upon themselves to leave Britain, seem unlikely to display similar loyalty to the Crown on Oprah tonight". Even if you think that Harry abandoned his duty to the Crown and the Nation by quitting, can we *really* say that it was a bigger dereliction of duty than that of his grandmother's uncle, who was in the family bad books because he ABDICATED THE THRONE in order to marry Wallis Simpson? The same Edward and Wallis who were also fascist symapthisers? These people are in pictures with Hitler, but it's Meghan and Harry's 'loyalty to the Crown' we're calling into question, is it. So yes it's bad lol
@suras8984
@suras8984 3 года назад
The fact that anyone cares about arbitrary issues like this is unsettling. Loyalty to the crown? What are we in the 1800's??? The tabloid obsession and the weird fact that people feed into this obsession is crazy. How can anyone call a person a narcissist just from reading tabloids. This isn't a reality show where we can watch her everyday behaviour and the behaviour of others towards her. There is a family feud going on like most families and we don't know the ins and outs and its none of our business anyway. At least not to the point to have so much hatred for them. I cant believe the tabloids did a piece on her eating an avocado while pregnant to shed her in a negative light. I def agree with your post.

When it comes to silencing Megan. I thing a lot of people from non monarchy countries have little knowledge about the European royals position in society. Royals are all silenced. Their job is to be a neutral political person. A stability. Your private life is a job and its 24/7. Everything is about "the good of the realm". More so The British Royal House than any other. Somebody tells you how to behave and what you are allowed to say. It's very demanding. You have to hide your opinion all the time. If not your opinions could split the people, so the U.K. Royal's can't give political sides their favour. It's a slippery slope. Megan is a very free spoken person. She had little opportunities to talk in public about both private and political issuses after joining the british royal family. Just like Kate can't talk, William can't talk and above all the Queen can't talk. I feel as though there was little preparing for what her life was really to become. Not someones who is using her voice, but someone who hides it. I remember many royal experts were affraid that there would be a problem for Megan to live the life as a british royal. And it did. Naturally. Its very hard for those royals born to their job. Think how hard it is for someone from the outside used to speak their mind. Also the press in Britain is savage.

My Ojibway grandmother was only with all her siblings once in their lives. The culture doted on their children who were never punished and always loved and taken care of. My grandparents drank to excess, I'm sure to drown the sorrow of the detachment of their childhoods. My own mother did not touch us, let alone give us a hug. If you think of it small scale - its a bad batch of inlaws that you felt little connection or comfort from, its just so much bigger due to who is involved with it. I identified with so much of what Meghan was saying in my own situations in marrying into a very conservative, white, family. Things have been said, feelings have been hurt, that's what I can see in my own inlaws. And something that strikes me is the number of people just chalking it up to "she should have known" like - how? We know what we know from books, thats obviously not the same thing as living it day to day and add in the betrayal of her own blood relatives and you can see why she and Harry wouldn't want to be a part of that circus anymore. Harry wasn't some straight and narrow gent and he has his own traumas from his parents mess of a marriage and the loss of his mother. It's complex and I'm glad they're speaking up.

Whereas American society and culture values the pursuit of happiness for the individual British culture puts the importance on the group in a way thats closer to Japanese culture. An example of this similarity in effect is the difficulty ppl of both British and Japanese culture have in seeking mental health support. I feel this cultural difference and clash is greatly impacting many aspects of this situation. The way I see it, Meghan went into this very naively, and I don't believe that she never heard of Prince Harry prior. There were a lot of inconsistencies in her interview. I found she was someone who joined the Royal Family thinking it was like celebrity life, but it's not. She went in thinking she could change and modernize with her American ways, the customs and tradition of the British Royal Family. She's like the stereotypical American in 90 day fiance where they go to another country and expect everything and everyone to conform to their American ways. That's just not how it works. Another point I'd like to bring up, is that a lot of people in America don't understand how the Monarchy and line of succession works and have only heard Meghan and Harry's side of the story, and very quick to defend them. In her interview, she made it seem like the reason why Archie wouldn't receive a title was because the colour of his skin. Regardless of skin colour, he wouldn't have been titled HRH Prince anyways by a patent dating back to 1917. There are always 2 sides to the story, and we all know the Royal Family will never air their dirty laundry so all we will ever hear is Meghan's side. There were a lot of things that Harry and Meghan expected to receive despite having quit their roles. They expected Canadian taxpayers to pay for their security and stay while in Canada? Once you quit your job, you no longer get the benefits that the job gives you.

I’m an American and consider myself progressive and I don’t pay much attention to celebrity in general but I did watch this interview and I was amazed at how transparently contrived it seemed. What are Meghan and Harry trying to accomplish in this interview? From my experience and perspective the US has little understanding of the role of the monarchy, and this is exploited by Meghan who comes across as a classic narcissist. Even this person analyzing this interview is admitting he doesn’t really understand the culture and micro culture of the royal family. Harry and Meghan had titled and certain privileges as part of a job. When you quit your job you don’t get to keep the title and paycheck. The British people and tabloids loved Meghan and their wedding. All the royals have issues with the tabloids.

You openly admit that your knowledge of the monarchy comes from watching "The Queen", and the producers give the caveat that it is not based on fact, but very loosely round real life characters and situations. Therefore your understanding of the monarchy seems to be limited, which you admit. In the engagement interview, Prince Harry said he had taken the responsibility of explaining the lifestyle to Meghan. Maybe he didn't do a very good job, as the monarchy is not like a Hollywood celebrity lifestyle, which is perhaps why she found it difficult to adjust. "Silenced" - the monarchy has to remain politically neutral which would have been explained, as they cannot be seen to take political sides. Perhaps Meghan would want to be politically active, but this strong principle would have been firmly explained, which is possibly why she felt she was silenced and could not speak freely and say what she wanted to say. "Restrictions" - was she really not allowed out for months? What about the baby shower in NY, the trip to see Serena play tennis, Misha Nonoo's wedding in Italy, visits to Elton John in France and the Clooneys in Italy, visits from Hilary Clinton and the blonde talk show host, just a few examples, whilst giving birth in between all these trips. "Racist" - the Royal Family is descended from Queen Charlotte, a woman of colour, who was the wife of King George III. And Meghan and her mother were welcomed into the UK with thousands cheering their wedding and a special pastor, choir and musician, all people of colour taking part in the wedding. Also, apart from one doctored one, the newspaper headlines were not from UK papers/ magazines and Oprah should have known this before she allowed them on screen. These are just few of my observations.

I study cultural anthropology. I would like to point out that in MANY other cultures the grand parents caring for the children is completely normal and part of their culture (for example, Dr Kirk is partially Japanese, it is VERY common in Japanese culture for the grand parents to care for the children while the parents work.) I think we see more about attachment issues now because the internet exists and people are able to do more self discovery and learn about things they had no access to previously. I think it has very little to do with children being left with family members, as globally we see this is not the catalyst for these issues. Lots of people work full time, their family helps watch the children and they have secure attached children.

Meghan has had a truly awful time and she has found herself in a terrible situation, imprisoned with an anachronistic screwed up family that we British people keep in a luxurious cage. I think ultimately the problem for her in the UK is that she’s so American. We can’t handle it. Her tone reads as overly earnest and self-delighted. What she says is not very different from what Harry says, but when he says it is sounds (to a British ear) frank, honest and robust, but the way she speaks comes across as performative, glossy and a little patronising. I don’t think she is being those things, but that’s how it comes across in the UK. Like how Russians can appear humourless to non-Russians - they aren’t, they just express differently.

I feel like you are missing the undertone of victim that Meghan is portraying here. So many things you are feeling for her are based on lies that have been disproven! Not only did she leave her house many more times than claimed, she also flew on private jet for her baby shower that HAD to be in New York, according to Meghan. As for living in this way for four years, she didn’t even move to the UK until much later than she claims. She has lied about her real age, the relationships within her own family, and had also fantasized since childhood about becoming a princess. Please research both sides before speaking, even if you “don’t want to, and are not interested in it” because this is very one sided. By the way, Meghan worked the same narrative as Princess Di, because it was part of the fantasy of being a Royal like her. We all watched Diana’s interviews of pain and suffering, and now this little actress is trying to emulate the same thing for the same reason, attention. Your commentary is interesting, unfortunately you are not factoring in adequately that she is a professional actress. This makes the analysis harder to do. Simulating body gestures is well within the skill set of such a professional. As well as contrary-to-fact statements she makes, one giveaway is that her gestures and body language are exaggerated over normal, and that makes it unnatural and a performance designed for the camera. People like this attempt to construct an edifice of deceit from individual blocks with as many as possible authentically true. However, the pieces don’t fit together, and some blocks need to be fabricated entirely. Markle’s interview is an example of someone with acting skills attempting to achieve this construction with an interviewer who is willingly feeding her deception. My inauthenticity detectors were triggered over and over again in the footage you showed. She is clearly a consummate con artist who intended to abuse the trust of everyone around her and is now attempting to profit from her heist. Her interview is an acting piece with little to no authenticity or honesty overall.

If you've ever watched certain videos or even some people on British Bake Off, there are people there into the history of their country and see it all as a part of their identity as English. Same way in America some people are very into the civil war. We still feel the effects of the civil war today. It's a large part of our identity what happened before, during and after the war.
