Well, not officially, perhaps but lots of examples of the half in half out lifestyle in the RF that gives most of the perks. Look at Sarah Ferguson, for example. As I understand this, there are some families that were considered noble wealthy families, as you said, the aristocracy. I think the Spencer family is one of them. Diana came from a well-connected family. I remember there was at least some disdain for Catherine's background. I also read one comment from someone who thinks the York girls' treatment of Catherine may be due to her common background. They view her as beneath them. I have no idea if this is true. It was just someone's opinion. However, I am sure some people DID feel that way. The old class system is dying in England, but vestiges of it still exist. Hopefully Catherine will help drive a few more nails in its coffin.
