Glad you enjoyed it Mario :) I am trying to do that with all watch reviews now but to be honest I can't always get the watch back off. Some are put on so tight by the manufacturers by machine. I always flex the muscles and try my best for you all. I love seeing inside too :) Best, MJ
Nice Brooks, that's great to hear :) Let me know when you get it and if you need any help. Remember to check back on this video for the directions on setting it up. You may get the correct instructions with the watch but I didn't lol Happy New Year my friend and enjoy the watch :) Best, MJ
I just got this watch in today (like, 2 hours ago). I got it in all blue. Here are my thoughts: It looks great. Definitely doesn't look like a $15 watch. The glare off of the crystal is horrendous. I thought there was a piece of plastic wrap on it at first. The whole body was wrapped in plastic, but I thought there was another piece covering the face. Nope, that's the crystal. It's a big piece of flat shiny glass. I am guessing that this looks the worst with the dark blue dial. If I'd known that I probably would have opted for a lighter color. It's pretty big and thick. Definitely not something I'll be wearing with a suit or a dress shirt. No instructions at all. It's weird how you change the time. I messed up the calibration of the 10-minute wheel trying to set the time. This freaked me out for a bit because the 10-minute wheel has 0-9 on it. Mine was flipping from 4 to 8 after I set the time. I finally figured out that there's a way to calibrate it. All is good now. It's very quiet. I expected to hear the drums turning when it changed time. I'm not complaining about that, though. Overall, I really like the looks of it. I just wish it didn't have so much glare.
I know this is an older video , but thanks for the info, I am also really impressed with the watch band, its easily worth half the price I paid for the watch.Nice unusual watch for sure.
Just bought one of these and was having trouble setting the time. Here is a tip to help you if you keep getting times like 4:76 Press and hold the A button at ten o’clock, set the time to 12:00 and press A again to reset the wheels. From here go through the time setting process and it should just fine.
Hey Bulldog, so glad you found me man :) What's important is you are here now! I only started the channel in January of 2020 so 1 year in. It continues to grow but I plan on continuing the 3 videos a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday so buckle up my friend :) If you ever have any questions I am only a comment away. Happy New Year and welcome to the Beer And Watches family. Best, MJ
Nice video. I love the unique methodology of this watch. Quartz yet the rolling of barrels, nice. Good you identified it is the same movement as the Red Star. I will definitely order maybe in blue? I am now subscribed to the channel. Looking forward to more reviews of affordable watches....
Well that’s an interesting watch to say the least. I’ve seen other drum roller watches that are from higher end brands, nice to see something that novel coming in a little more affordable. I have that crystal and case press as well. It does the job, comes in handy for sure. Hope your back heals up although “deep tissue massage and watches” has a decent sound to it (?)
Hahahaha Deep tissue massage and watches, I like it lol! Now that would be a niche :) Yeah, watch is great and price so so affordable I like it very much and it's keeping great time :) Happy New Year my friend. Best, MJ
i think this watch got battery saver mode, mean the number will not move at 1200 digit but when u want to know the actual time u just push 3 times the right 2nd button then it will auto calibrate to tell the recent time.
Shah you might be right. Thank you for the post. I will check it out. Battery saving mode on quartz watches is always welcome ;) Have a great week my friend and thanks for the message. Best, MJ
Hi Matt, megir will definitely be my first watch to buy in the new year ... did you notice or does it just seem to me that the minute drum is poorly centered compared to the other two
Hey AV. You won't be disappointed. I have been wearing it ever since this review. I love it, super cool and unusual and very easy to tell the time ;) It is off slightly but you can do a micro adjustment to set the drums better. If you pick one up be sure to use the link in my description below the video as that's the best deal I could find :) Best, MJ
Marc at Long island Watch does a RU-vid tutorial on how to operate the Red Star Drum Roller Watches he sells which I imagine will be exactly the same for this watch including how to align all the digits centrally as I noticed yours are a little off.
Thanks so much for this Rod, very helpful. I will go and take a look. You are correct I believe the movements in all the drum rollers are the same. Really appreciate the message. Best, MJ
Very interesting, but not for me. I guess there is no other way around it, 18 months short for a watch battery, in this case 2. It’s pretty obvious this movement has a huge drain. Regardless nice review.
Yes, it’s a battery sucker that’s for sure. I’m having fun with it though, kinda like it 😊 Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for the support. Best, MJ👍
That is a neat one, like the color way too. Just received some straps from Alix and then found some ostrich print leather ones I maybe ordering soon, so gonna have to pass on this one for now. P.S. still waiting on my PD "cocktail time", it's in my state so only a matter of days 'til its here (we had a snowstorm yesterday).
Yeah, this was my favourite color way out of them all. I really like it :) Been wearing it every day! Looking forward to seeing that PD. Would love some pics of it when it arrives. Stay safe in that snow and Happy New Year to you. Best, MJ
Hi Matt, well that’s certainly a different look 👀 to the normal watch, a novelty piece for sure. The sort of thing your best mate would get you, to take the p+++ out of your watch collection. The watch press is the same as I’ve got very handy to have, saves a lot of time instead of hitting it with an hammer Ha,Ha. Glad no snakes, catch up with you on Friday chill and rest.
Hahahaha "Best mate would get you to take the P#$%!!!" That made me laugh. Funny thing is I genuinely like the watch :) My eclectic tastes I guess lol. Totally agree with you on the watch press. So difficult to get those backs on without one! Who ever came up with those watch backs??? Happy New Year to you and see you Friday :) Best, MJ
Hi Mark, Hope you are well. I purchased a watch that works on the similar principle as this one from a brand called Daniel Klein. I have a slight issue with this and was wondering if you could be of any assistance. The issue is as follows: When a whole hour is completed say from 2:00 to 3:00, the correct answer is 3:00 but instead my watch changes from 2:00 to 2:61 or even 3:71 which is completely irrelevant and wrong. Thanks, Josh
Hey Josh, sorry it took me so long to reply. I am in NYC at the moment performing on Broadway until early March 2022. You know I don't have the watch in front of me as it's in Canada so unfortunately I cannot answer your question as I don't recall how you set it. I do recall having the same problem when I first got it until you figure out how to set it correctly. I think at the time I did a search on RU-vid or google on how to set a drum roller watch. See if that helps you. Best, MJ
Yes, good question! Who knows? But yes, it rotates to 00. It's a really funky, cool watch. I have been wearing it for a few days now and am really enjoying it. Very easy to tell the time ;) Best, MJ
It could be for a Millisecond function if it has one. Or the drums are used for something else and its cheaper to use the 0 to 9 rather than re tooling for a new set.
Not for everyone for sure and a little chunky on wrist but not as much as you think. I absolutely love it and have not taken it off for the past few days. All those expensive watches on my shelf are getting jealous lol. Best, MJ
i purchased an SKMEI watch of similar design and looks on a white dial some 1 plus years ago. some have a Russian look dial with the red star or something but most of these are cheap china made quartz watches with similar movements i believe
Hey Woon You are totally correct. All of them (regardless of price) have the same quartz movement inside. The Russian looking one is called The Red Star and is actually over $100. The SKMEI is about the same price I believe. Because all run the same movement I would say base you're buying decision on the look that you like as basically they are all the same watch. How do you like yours? Does it get much wrist time? Thanks for supporting my channel :) Best, MJ
It's a great watch Tom and the price is so so good. If you pick one up make sure you use the link in the description below the video as that's the best deal I could find. No brainer at $20US! I have been wearing it every day for last few days. Loving it and so easy to tell the time ;) All the best to you and your family for the New Year! Best, MJ
Actually mate, pressing the button at the 10:00 position doesn't get you to time setting mode. That's the alignment mode where you can realign your numbers if they are off. That's why it goes to 12:00. To set the time all you have to do is press and hold any of the other buttons for 2 seconds and it will put you in time setting mode. Cool vid tho brother.
The poor man's Devon Tread 1.. I have 3 of these, clearly I am a poor man. If you don't know what the Devon Tread 1 is then look it up, you'll see what I mean.
@@user-df5ql3kc7gobrigado amigo, eu não falo inglês não entendo nada que ele fala. O relógio vem com 2x LR44 maxell 60mah cada uma. Se vc colocar 2x SR44W 165mah cada uma ok. Acredito que passe de 30 meses.
Hahaha, never thought of it that way. Now that's all I'll see, thanks for that ;) Glad you enjoyed the review. Happy New Year to you my friend. Best, MJ
Mine is faulty as it does not skip the minute digits so current time is 4.87 pm. I'll be returning it which is such a shame as I really like the unique timepiece
Hey Steve, Yes, that's my catch phrase many have said they don't get it lol Get stuck in is an expression from Yorkshire England where I am originally from. It means "Let's get started" I could change it but it's kinda become my thing now :) Hope this helps and thanks for supporting my channel :) Best, MJ
The life span on the batteries in this is supposed to be about 18 months. It Takes 2 and you can get a pack of 10 for about $3 on Amazon so I think that it's a good option. It really is a cool little watch, I like it :) Best, MJ
