I was walking with my college friends (in the year 1990) in the market when I overheard 'aalaap' of his ghazal (ranjish hi sahi) from a distance. I told my friends I had some work and left the group to follow this voice...I reached a very small shop and bought the casette..went to my hostel and enjoyed listening to his ghazals on repeat mode!!
An year ago I heard the same song by Hassan saab in radio garden and wanted to figure out what is this song, who the singer. At last I found out in a month's time. Thereafter I listened to this great song quite frequently and then memorised with its meaning. Very profound.
Only Pakistan TV ( PTV) use to catch signal in Amritsar in 1980/-, sometimes Jalandhar as well. I grew up listening to Mehdi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Attaullah khan, Farida Khanum, Noor Jahan . And those Pakistan Plays. That childhood and teen tears of my life gave me lot of wisdom to understand poetry. Today i understand lot of Urdu because of it, and am lucky . ❤
Parveen Shakir Sahiba was an extra ordinary genius lady... she was a poet of her own kind. By profession she was a CSP officer in Federal Government of Pakistan on a key post.... she passed her Civil Superior Services (CSS) examination with distinction. Died in a sad road accident being in her official vehicle, while going to her office, in Islamabad. Allah bless her soul and reward her with junnat ul firdos . (Aamin )

@@KAMALK320Therer'e zillions who sing but only few leave their impression for centuries. Mehdi saab is one such immortal singer par excellence, leaving an indelible impression in connoisseurs. There ought to be something more divine in him to be adored by the discerning world over than just listen to his music in awe.!!

Mehadi Hasan Sahab with his divine voice and Ustad Tari Khan Sahab on tabla with his mesmerizing fingers....two of my most loved artists...its a bliss to hear both of them together
The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the synonyme of soft, soothing, and soulful music ! Professionalism, Perfection, and Sophistication in performance was the hallmark of the great Khan Saab ! His style of gayiki was pretty simple, soft, effortless, soothing and soulful but overbearing and very difficult to emulate ! Besides, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had something divine in his voice, which had made him so special ! He had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal, which will be very difficult to surpass ! Such a resourceful singer will ever tread this path again in the world ! Personally speaking, I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have born during the lifetime of this legendary singer !
Mash Allah G Mash Allah Pak Darajat Buland Farmay Ustade Mohtram Mehdi Hassan Sahib K Or Ustade Mohtram Gholam Sahib Ko Sehato Salamti Wali Taveel Zindgani Ata Farmae Aameen Sum Aameen
Mehdi Hassan sb! Your are much live in our hearts. No country can ever never produce such a legendary singer of ghazal. A voice so thrilling that a nightingale if listened to it will wish for it
That reminds me of two compositions . One was .. Aaj jane ki zid na karo, in 1971 and another from Mehandi Hasan saheb ... gulon mein rang bhare....in 1976. The cassettes were bought and each one was repeated more than 25 times in a go. All I can say for sure is that these compositions and presentation have no expiry date...
Ustad Tari Khan sahab one of the best tabla player.. or utne hi behtar sangat karte hai...laggi ke choices and unke Tihai ek dam perfect.. or kya nikaashi hai.. wah! Itna meetha haath.. no doubt why he was favourite of mehdi hassan sahab
Although i am not an urdu or hindi speaker but i have managed to learn little broken words because of passion and love of hearing such legends i also bought a harmonium which i keep playing and disturbing my family from time to time. With lots of love and respect from Muscat Oman 😘
His voice brings memories of hard workers in the heat of the factories and honest labourers in the heat of day in our countries while his music played in the background. Whether they were shoe polishers or tyre puncture repairers to tea makers. The sound of this voice is branded onto our souls.
The baritone voice dipped in honey with unmatched melody and command over Raag....this is Mehdi Hassan for you. The strature of his singing also reflects in his simplicity and humility. No less than Ghulam ali in audience
