I lived in Colclough Road too. From early 70's til about 79. I remember the Station Hotel had a great beer garden. Everywhere seemed to look a hell of a lot better back then. Or is that just rose tinted glasses? However. I loved it growing up around meir. Also lived on Brookwood drive, Snowden way, Harvey Road and Rownall Road.
I noticed on the video that the canteen block was missing. When we finish primary here. We moved to the block that's adjacent to Colclough Road for our 1st year of high school. 2nd year was our 1st year at box lane. Very strange setup looking back. There were also x-block prefabs on the playground. Remember one was the music block.
Went to the junior school then to Meir middle then up to Longton High...lived on Uttoxeter Rd in the pet shop and off licence, some good memories but also some bad ones.
Not one of the Schools I attended is still standing. I feel robbed of my history. All the derelict land in and around Meir, and they chose to demolish our history. I was there in the early 80's.
My late father and his late brothers went there in the 50s. This school was opposite my Grandfathers house in Southwalk Meir, Shame what has become of Meir and Stoke-on-Trent...all thanks to Governments that aint from this planet!
