This week apparently Mel was at the launch of History of the World Part 2, and he told the audience the weather report he had just heard in the car. He's almost 97 and he physically can't stop making people laugh. A true legend.

What I love about it is that no one notices the extra finger until he points it out. He's moving his hand around and putting it on Conan's desk. But no one sees it. And you can see that Mel is tickled about it.

A cheerful heart is good medicine lets you know it has done well for Mel. Always loved Mel Brooks. Starring in some of my favorite comedies but my Number 2 is Blazing Saddles cause my Number one is Harlem Nights but Young Frankenstein is a laugh til you cry as well. Mel Brooks was the first and one of the biggest (next to Monty Python and the Marx Brothers) of my comedic influences, ever since seeing "Spaceballs" for the first time when I must have been five, maybe six years old. I didn't get all the jokes and references back then, but I recognised funny when I saw it. "Young Frankenstein" is still the funniest movie ever made

Did a quick search for collaborations on IMDb and it seems like Vivian Blaine was in a segment of an episode of "Your show of shows" which Mel Brooks was a writer on. I wonder if anything happened during the filming of that episode or if they had any other bad encounter that made Mel do that Chinese theater joke on Blaine. Even though, he ain't wrong. I never heard of Vivian Blaine until today ;)

Mel Brooks told a joke right behind me one time! But I was paying too close attention to my tour guide at the time to notice he was even there. 😭 (My friend told me about it after the fact.) Why did I choose that moment to have an attention span!?
