People don't get just how rich he is. He is one of the wealthiest actors in Holywood. He never needs to work again, but he does because he loves doing it.
@@V3ntilator I don't think Bale's house is that cheap, and also he probably has few more cars, just using the cheap one to not bring any atention to himself. Zuckerberg also drives a cheap car but at the same time owns probably more expensive ones and few yachts.
I'm 55 years old, Generation X, from the backwoods in Canada. MAD MAX swept through my generation like a tsunami. I remember seeing it for the first time on some late-night movie channel (we only had like thirteen channels) and being fascinated with post-apocalyptic world, the mythology. But it was seeing MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR at a small drive-in movie theater in the early 1980s that really pushed my imagination into this post-apocalypse wasteland. It was the completed vision, filmed in Australia, large set pieces spanning the horizons. THE ROAD WARRIOR was made for antsy teens like me coming of age in the 1970s, the lot of us running wild in dark forests, building tree forts and playing capture-the-flag, spending our summer days miles away from home without any parents around. THIS was our movie, those of Generation X.
As a combat vet I love his comments about PTSD. "They used to call it 'shell shock', then they called it 'battle fatigue'. Now I don't know what they call it... 'nuts' I guess". This is partly why I love Lethal Weapon and Riggs. Mel definitely understands the psyche of soldiers
Mel, a true heavyweight of filmmaking. Hard to think of a bad film he was in. Still not too late to give us an old grizzled, rough and gruff Max to round off Mel's Mad Max franchise. Great to see he's on his way back after is breakdown. His talent has been missed.
What a brilliant man. He can still pull of Mad Max way too good than all of today's actors combined. Not too mention, the king of money that can Producers can make off of it. He has still got it.
I love how generous Mel is with his time and his answers. He gets asked the same questions in every interview he does, but he answers them with enthusiasm like it's the first time he has been asked.
It would be cool if Mel plays the creator of the Buzz Lightyear toy or that he plays the actual voice actor of the Buzz Lightyear toy. The unnamed voice actor picking up and talking to the Buzz Lightyear toy. Mel Gibson talking to Tim Allen in a way, so it becomes very meta.
@@DanielThureskog Or toystory buzz meets star command buzz(Mel Gibson). But i guess that would mean Star command Buzz would be talking to a toy! Haha! I didn’t think about that!
Legend! Was looking forward to meeting Mel at the VIP Melbourne (where Mad Max originated) show he was doing but was unfortunately cancelled due to the Lock down for the Pandemic.
If only we saw Old Man Max in Fury Road rather than the bland, boring Tom Hardy. Mel wouldve been so much better in those circumstances as an old man kind of blown away by everything at first. Then when he got his senses back, Old Man Max would be as ruthless as ever. Just look at Mel's phenomenal and bada** performance in Blood Father.
I don't know if I would call Tom Hardy "boring and bland" that's a little bit of a stretch. I think you need to see Bronson, Peaky Blinders, The Drop, The Revenant or the newest movie about the Kray's twins! He's a damn fine actor with alot of range.
What - you mean strapped to the front of a car for half the movie, with a trowel stuck to his face, playing second fiddle to girl boss - no thanks, I'm glad he didn't! At least you can keep the Furiosa's seperate from the original trilogy.
The Bounty and Maverick are superb movies. Period. Here's a side story because Mel emotionally talked about him. Richard Donner and a bunch of people along with the Location Dept were scouting for locations in downtown LA for Lethal Weapon. Richard came across a homeless women looking for change to buy food. And Richard reached into and gave her everything in his pocket My roommate who was in the group said that wad of cash was clearly over a thousand dollars
Mad Max 4: Well, not really mad anymore.... I've worked out my issues and I am actually a pretty happy guy and I'm in a good place. [Studio: can you shorten the title? ] LOL
In all honesty, I wonder if the hesitation from WB has anything to do with either genuine lack of interest from studio executives running things now and/or their hesitation to work with Mel Gibson again because of his personal luggage and controversies?
Script is done. That was confirmed by Randall Wallace early this year And this past September Mel was in Parts of Europe scoring film locations for the Resurrection…so looks like he’s getting the blue print ready. Maybe next year filming will start. He does have a movie out now Monster Summer and he’s the director for Flight Risk that opens October 18th
Mel is a cinema legend and I’m grateful for his body of work. Interviewer was absolutely atrocious. Get someone articulate for a job that requires articulation.
Kind of an inane if affable interview. You didn't even touch on some of his other amazing and impactful movies. I also think it's kind of an insult to only interview someone in this kind of retrospective for just 25 minutes.
You can tell that the subject of Lethal Weapon 5 is getting to be a touchy subject for him now, Donner's dying wish for Mel was to make LW5 and those complete ass clowns of Hollywood and WB won't let him do it because of some petty BS! Mel struggled with alcoholism over the years, the man has his demons and said some very horrible things IN THE PRIVACY OF HIS OWN HOME but he was at a low point in life and he's made no excuses for that, he's owned his mistakes and payed with the humiliation of it all. He also has mad it clear about his disike of Hollywood and the depravity of the place (which is finally starting to come into the light) and so on and that is also a no no for that ridiculous place. I hope some day soon he gets to make it and that its as good as it can be
Miller if you see this redo Fury Road with Mel's face over Tom Hardy's with Mel's voice yes Hardy he is boring as fuck and Mel would have added another 100million plus in profit. Just do it
Is the interviewer the weird disneyland guy who goes there daily for his youtube channel? He looks exactly like him! Mel Gibson is the shit!.... but i need this Disney Guy question answered!
Nope. People don't get just how rich he is. He is one of the wealthiest actors in Holywood. He cut a lot of good deals, and not just in acting. He never needs to work again, but he does because he loves doing it.
RDJ was a total f@ckup in his early years. The one man who saved him was Mel. RDJ was going to quit and go home, but Mel gave him roles, got him work, and they became best mates. When RDJ asked him how to pay him back, Mel just said to help the next person who messes up, so when RDJ got an award, he gave a speech about Mel and how great he was and how he had saved him.
