Lol. I am in that commercial. It was shot in Fort Worth, Texas in the early 80s. I am in the back and if you blink at :40-:42 you'll miss me. That was a fun day, making that commercial.
I drove OTR truck a while back and would find a parking spot and walk a mile to a whataburger.. not very much truck parking near them but they are the best in the country
@10ecboy Ecboy; My girlfriend worked at the first Whataburger that opened in Odessa, TX. She told me when Mel was coming to promote this Whataburger. I went there, met and talked with him and Saw him several times again there in Odessa at the Silver Saddle Club, and another night club off the Andrews Hwy. He let me play and sing in his band at both places and treated me as his equal...just another American that loves everybody with a heart. Mel's a good person to know. You'd have to meet him.
Ah man! This old commercial is so hilarious. Especially da second one where Mel stutters and the workers try unsuccessfully to correct him. It brought back memories and knocked me to da floor laughing.
Great memories yep it was the early 80's when good ol Mel did them Whataburger Commercials. The Mel Tills Commericals are my favorite Whataburger Commercials of all time. It was very catchy how he said Whataburger at the end and yes there were several more made with Mel probably haven't made their way across You Tube yet. It made me remember that name after seeing that commercial as a Kid. It was the early 80's when the Mel Tills Commercials were around
@Travisab1 I agree. He used to come by here whenever he played in town, or even nearby. He loved my wife's fried chicken (and maybe my wife, I dunno). The band parked the bus out front and sometimes they gave me the keys while they were getting legs & thighs from my wife. I durn near wrecked the thing once or twice. Nice guy, and the stuttering wasn't an act.
These commercials are so compelling that I'm going to run out in the street and trade this computer for a 'whataburger'. What a stunning effort, for an 8th grade school assignment. The teacher was trying to teach school kids about running a business.
I lived in Houston, Texas in the early '80's and they were good! I live in Louisiana now and in the 2000's they built one near me and I was so happy, these hamburgers are great!
"I'm gonna order a whataburger with cheese, a whataburger without cheese, a whataburger with double cheese, some french fries, some more french fries, another whataburger with double cheese!"
TEXAS! whataburger was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and is a southern tradition i know for a fact that texas, oklahoma, new mexico, arizona, florida, louisiana, alabama and georgia have them
Joe, I have eaten at Whataburgers in Kingman, AZ, Las Cruces, NM, I forget the name of the city but it was south of Oklahoma City off of I-35, Bossier City, LA and Pennsacola, FL. Frio, First Science Officer.
Whataburgers are the best burgers. Why? Because everything there is cooked to order. FRESH! FRESH! FRESH! 24 hours a day. It's 3 am and I am hungry. Im going to get me a Triple meat triple cheese all the way with grilled onions and jalapenos and add a chocolate shake and a lemon or strawberry pie. Oh yeah! Don't forget my large order of onion rings. ALL cooked fresh to go! Best place to eat after the bar closes up and you need to sober up some. LOL!
@360whiplash There are a few outside of Texas, here and there, but they ARE most comon in Texas, a US state that has a population (and size) greater than many countries...
