Again, great video from you guys. Love it. I just hope you guys would make the full use of the 3 months visa free stay here in Malaysia. It would really be nice if you could really go off the beaten track like visiting Kelantan or Terengganu or even Kedah and Perlis for a truly localised atmosphere. And later, come back for a second visit to the Borneo/East Malaysia experience. That would absolutely make the chapter of your Malaysian journey completed. Well, almost I'd say. 😁
Next recommendation, Perak State... Many Historical site too.. First railway station in Malaysia..First Rubber tree brought into Malaysia, Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan(opened in 1886) & many more... * The Tuk tuk that you say actually is called Rickshaw or Trishaw in English(Beca in Malay).
Malaysia is about diversity … every city / town will offer different vibes , different varieties of food , different geography and scenery … unity in diversity
U both made the rite choice, after a hypercity-venturing in KL. Historical Melaka is also fascinating..the straits stretch mix ancient+modernity @harbourfront+ colonial integrated lifestyle by "pan" residents n m'sians....chn-nyonya, eurasians( inter-mix grps, portuguese+ filipinos+ dutch+Brits+ Spanish+Inds...)Dun miss Jonker Streets @evenings...n many many 1-way rd- spectacular shophses, boutique hotels, hostels, homestay, galleries, museums cafes,bistros,bars,...etc
Yesst!!! Melaka ( aka MALACCA ) is a historical City, 'Where it all began' ... i really love to live here, my hometown & working in the Federal Government Office since 33 yrs ago.... hope u're not regret to visit here👍👍👍👍❣
Melaka is not limited to its picturesque surroundings but also its incredible specialty cuisine, namely the Baba Nyonya, Satay Celup, Cendol gula Melaka and the local chicken rice balls too. 😅😊✌️
8:51 The British when they took over Malacca from the Dutch destroyed most of the Portuguese fort (called A Famosa - the Famous) and much of other Portuguese buildings in 1807.
If you're looking for a delicious and refreshing dessert, I suggest trying Cendol Kampung Hulu. It's located by the river, so you can enjoy your treat with a beautiful view ... have fun exploring
Before western colonisation, Melaka was one of the greatest trading port in asia. It was a center of trading point between far east and middle east region. That is how Melaka Straits got its name and still is one of the busiest straits in the world.
Don't forget to to taste Malacca's speciality "Assam Pedas" but beware of the the spicy gravy.. My favorite "Assam Pedas" is " ikan parang" Assam Pedas!!!😋
The street arts and murals by the same local and foreign artists as in Georgetown, Penang.. literally, those paintings are pictures of the history and cultures of Malacca especially in those areas in Malacca..
FYI, the hole with the cage on top at the far end of the St Paul's church is actually St Francis Xavier's temporary place of rest... He died in Macau (if I am not mistaken) or one of the islands of China but his will stated that he wanted to buried in Goa. So on the way of bringing back the body to Goa, they had to stop in Melaka, as they have to wait for the southeasterly wind to sail to Goa. They buried the body without a coffin, then it was exhume wheen they decide to bring it back to Goa. So that I have been told.
I suggest you visit Kampung Morten, the Portuguese Settlement at Padang Temu, and also some Museums such as the Sultan of Melaka's Palace, The Declaration of Independence Museum...or go out of town to Mini Malaysia, Ayer Keroh. Also take at least a day trip to Muar with stops at Pantai Siring (forfried battered seafood) esp in the afternoon or ikan Bakar (grilled fish/seafood) at night. Alternatively you can also go to Umbai floating restaurant, Parameswara Ikan Bakar or Muara Duyung - closer to Melaka.
Since you mentioned that you guys love to visit the off-beaten path places/attractions, why dont you guys visit the Pulau Besar, Melaka? That little island is known for some ancient tombs belonged to religious preachers and a place to perform mystic rituals. Also, in Melaka, there are many historical places such as museums that not commonly visited by tourists.
Just met you guys at Malacca river sidewalk near Kampung Morten area😂😂😂 I hate visiting touristy area during public holidays... The traffic so bad & crowded 😅😅😅
Malacca should build Formula 1 circuit to get highlighted in the world map. A lot more people will come, good for businesses. Also the port for super big cruises and yachts to park. Water sports can be one of big annual events.
@@TwoMadExplorers We are back home in KL now. Was at my parents in Melaka for eid adha. So, whenever you are back in KL, let us know. Tschuess -Gabi&Khal
A little note of history of the destruction of the Portuguese Fort in Malacca. The temporary handover of Malacca to the British, in trust, was made in 1795 to avoid Dutch colonial lands falling into the hands of Napoleon Bonaparte who declared war on the Netherlands. But the British took advantage and started demolishing the Dutch fortified, Portuguese Fort so that the Dutch would not be able to fight to get Malacca back. It took a long time to destroy the Fort due to it's solid construction. Sir Stamford Raffles from Singapore, whilst on sick leave in Malacca, intervened on hearing loud explosions, to stop the demolition. However, he was rather late, and so we are left with just some remnants of the once majestic A Famosa Fort.
yes that is a nice river, nice and clean, if that river was in thailand it would be full of plastic bags, if the same river was in vietman it would be full of rubbish and plastic bags and if that river was in Indonesia if would be super full of rubbish, dead animals and they would be burning rubbish on the river banks
@@keangwooichoo6138 sad but true and dont get me started about the rivers in india, full of rubbish, shit, dead human parts and the locals use the same water for cooking, bathing and everything else you can think of.
my office just at 10 minutes from red square. where are you guys haha i saw you standing inside the boat. i ate food beside the river at morten village during nearly sunset
Those are called trishaws. Malacca has more history. Its famous for the Baba and Nonya or Peranakan descendents brought about by the intermarry between the local Malays and the Chinese from mainland China.
Melaka is the most strategic and most advance port in southeast asia 500 years before Singapore and ww2 . it is the gate to East asia. Malacca hay day was during Malacca sultanate that was supported by Acheh sultanate (north sumatra) army and Demak Sultanate Army ( Jakarta today) .Malacca became so rich that the Portuguese writer and trader Tome Pires said "Whoever is lord of Malacca shall have his hands on the throat of Venice". Melaka lost the war against Portuguese . Then Portuguese lost the war to dutch that cooperate with the new sultanate Johor Riau that rise from Mallacca Sultanate Remains fraction. Then bigger power came which is british. Then Singapore took the crown as the busiest and advance port. In ww2 you can see how fast Japanese want to get to Singapore for control over the strait , Until today Straits of Malacca still being the chokepoint and fight for dominance in global south between China and US.
Melaka tidak mencirikan identitas Budaya lokal banyak sekali papan papan Tulisan huruf China Tiongkok dimana mana.. sehingga bertanya-tanya apa sebenarnya identitas Malasia
YOU ( as Indonesia) are actually showing your jealousy towards Malaysia to european tourist visiting Malaysia. Most probably they are pissed off with you😂😂
