This song saved my life. No joke! I was in a very bad dark place in my life and this song came on one day when I was about to give up and it hit me so hard. Reminding me that I couldn’t give up, that I needed to keep going. Wish I could thank Melanie in person for releasing such a wonderful and powerful song. But I guys on here will have to work. I remember when this was released like it was yesterday, It was 2005, Crazy to think it was 18 years ago. I was in a dark place, and being prescribed anti-depressants to treat anxiety. Something I don't talk about, ever.. And thankfully something that hasn't ever surfaced (or to that extent anyway) This song came along and saved me, the lyrics, the music, it was a movement for me at the time and it will forever remain my saviour.. This has become my theme song. I was ready to give up last year as I sunk to the lowest low of my life with illness and financial problems and then I found something that gave me a reason not to give up. Love this song.

Mel C's single, First Day of My Life, was released on the 30 Sept. 2005, 13 years ago. The song became her most successful single in Europe, spending two years on different European charts.

This is going to be a very long text. I apologize in advance for it: This song came out shortly after my 5th birthday (I looked it up and it is pretty much exactly 5 days later) and it was a big hit here in Germany so I heard it quite a lot on the radio when I was a child and I always liked it because I didn't know English then so it sounded like a very happy song. The year 2019 was an extremely difficult one for me with worrying a lot about people who are very important to me and their lives and therefore getting very bad grades at school. I seriously thought about dropping out one year before graduating since I was told I would never be able to pass my A-level exams and also didn't think myself that I could do it. In autumn of that year, when things started to change for the better a bit, I heard this song on the radio again after completely forgetting about it for more than a decade. I immediately cried when I heard the first words of the song since now, I did understand everything. I know now that this song is about overcoming the hard times we all experience and learning how to heal up and be happy again afterwards. It gave me the strength not to give up when I thought my live was over and I would never be happy again. I promised myself that when things were better, I was going to play this song again. I graduated last year with better grades than I would ever have thought of as possible less than a year before. The day I received my grades I listened to this song and cried again. However, this time it was because I was incredibly happy. I would like to thank Melanie C and every creator of this song for creating it, since I think that it is very special and personal not only to me, but also to millions of others. I hope this can give all of you who are facing challenges and going through other hard things in life a bit of hope to continue whatever you are doing and not give up no matter how hard it is. If you are unhappy right now, and if you think that nothing could ever be worse than your life is right now, it won't last forever. One day you will look back at it and be incredibly proud of yourself that you made it out of it. And for all of you who need to hear it right now: You are extremely beautiful and special. Don't forget that your personality is the way it is because God created it like that and that he is always at your side. And sooner or later, you will be able to feel the effects of it. I grew up with my mom, when we get inside the car this song was always what I hear and now I’m 13 and I live so much far away from her and my close ones. Those people that are gone and some of my loved once.things will never get the same again, I always thought that life would never be hard and I’ve never thought that I could feel this kind of pain, but it’s life I have to face it. I miss everyone 😔😖
