I would LOVE for them to do one last album with all five members and call it a day. They don't even have to tour for it, lol. Just to better bookend their whole story because Forever wasn't quite it.
@@fajarzakri4936 I agree. Forever is a mediocre record, excluding Holler and Goodbye, and the rest is to be thrown away. They should make one last record. It would be perfect.
@@Exemi I like Forever though! 😂 Let Love Lead The Way and Oxygen are among their prettiest ballads, Right Back At Ya and Wasting My Time still SLAP to this day, If You Wanna Have Some Fun is a nice little ditty... the rest of the album is subpar at best though. I feel like their hearts just weren't in it when they were working on Forever (understandably so, everyone was off doing solo projects) when it actually could have been a game-changer and really solidified them as a group. They actually sounded (and danced) better as a four-piece, but the material could have absolutely been bettered up. But yeah, a final album with all five members present would be fabulous to cap it all off with. Problem is, I just think Geri and Victoria (actually the two weakest singers in the group lol) aren't up for it anymore? They seem out of it in terms of singing and performing or recording...
@@Exemi Yeah we have two Posh Spices now! 😂 Do you think they still need to be “in character” though? I mean when all five reunited for the first time in 2007 and put out those two new songs, I feel image-wise they were at the right place.
omg, not only the best questions about the spice girls an interviewer asked but also the fact she mentioned they might come back WITH Victoria just made my day... a year.... Corona what? lol Bring it on Spice World 2023 or 2024 lol
@@mattheww239 I was turned right off her when she furloughed her staff last year despite having hundreds of millions in the bank. Disgusting thing to do in these hard times, many felt the same so maybe not that beloved.
As the music expert he is, I'm glad Zane recognizes the legacy of Melanie and Spice Girls and their contribution to modern music, you can tell by his questions that he's well informed about the groups journey unlike some ppl who still think Spice Girls were just a prefabricated group like most of today's bands.
One of the best and clever interview about Mel C and The Spice Girls, thank you Zane. As always, you are great! It was too short! I could have listen to a 2 hour long interview with you two haha Mel... Mel... Mel... How I love you! Everything about you, the artist and woman you are. And OMG... A 5-piece comeback??? A NEW ALBUM? Oh please Girls, make our day... our year... OUR LIFE!
Say You’ll Be There is my ultimate favorite. But I love all their catalogue. Stop, Holler, Viva Forever, Let Love Lead The Way, Goodbye were also good but even the non-singles were great. Something Kindda Funny, Right Back At Ya, Tell Me Why, Love Thing, Do It, Denying.. omgosh I can almost name everything!
she is such a warm person...Her smile and laughter really make me feel more positive. There are no weak moments on her last album. I love the texts. Melanie, you are incredible.
Great interview. Mel C was always my favourite Spice. Her first and last solo album are simply amazing. But it would be a dream come true if they make another album and world tour. All the fans deserve it
Just watched Geri's heartfelt apology from Wembley with the girls, and it came a tear in my eye when I saw it. It was very emotional, and one could see that the rest of the girls was very touched by her apology
20 something years ago I was a single digit nerdy farm kid obsessed with the Spice Girls and dancing around my corn field to Wannabe and Denying and Stop!... now I'm 31 and getting misty eyed watching this interview because sometimes your heroes live up to your idealization of them. Sometimes they're actually as wonderful as you hoped they would be. ❤
You see fellas, most today's artists may be a great songwriter with non-stop albums or tour maker but they do not nail any magic history BUT the Spice Girls with only 3 albums and a gingerly breakup they did miracle.
I would absolutely love a new Spice Girls record! I think the way records are distributed these days may mean that it wouldn't be a huge selling album but I still think there is enough of an audience to grant one! I think some collaboration with Niles Rogers would be amazing! I've always loved their disco inspired stuff (who do you think you are and never give up on the good times...) 😘🎊💓💕
A new album whether it sounds good or not would surely secure them a number 1 all over the world. I also hope they make an interesting album sleeve like in Spice album with all those Spice mantra/phrases. That for me solidified their band profile and mission..great marketing tool. i know streaming and digital are the way now but going old school with cds/cassette would be awesome and nostalgic!
@@stanbalo Completely agree. I am so happy that The Spice Girls are now getting a lot of respect for some of the clever things and innovations that they did in the 90s!
@@fajarzakri4936 Even Forever seems to be getting more positive reviews in retrospect. I think the whole project was let down through lack of proper promotion, it only really had one full release of Holler (discounting Goodbye & Let Love Lead the Way). I would also love a collection of rarities/ b-sides or unreleased tracks... I know a lot of these are available online these days but it's not quite the same 🤔
@@alcopop2006 I like Forever! But had they carried on as a group (and a four-piece) and the material of the album been bettered up, that album would have been the start of their next phase, they would have stuck together and things would look very different today. I really do think they had it in them to be a formidable VOCAL group had they chosen to go down that route, but alas ofc they didn't. And understandably so. I feel like the four of them were just in different places mentally and not quite gelling as a group that Forever ended up sounding not quite inspired in places. I really dig half of the album but they honestly could have nixed Get Down With Me, Weekend Love and Time Goes By in favour of stronger tracks and it would've been a far stronger record. But alas. Yeah my only concern is these days Geri and Victoria (ironically the group's weakest singers lol) are just not up for it anymore in terms of singing and performing and all the rest of it...
Keep working on her Mel!!! Oh my gosh to see all 5 of you together again!😭😭 We love you!!! I saw you in Cincinnati Ohio June 20, 1998, 3rd row!!!! To see that again would be everything!!!
You have to listen to the full length interview (no visuals) on Apple Music to hear about her solo stuff. Too bad they didn’t make the full video (with visuals) available..
MIND - BLOWN - innocence sort of lost, yet found in an entirely other area.... when it floods back to me that it w as Emma (baby spice) Bunton the one chiming in with "put it on, put it on" lol.... ive been to weddings where this was the bride and grooms first dance..... kinda hilarious now.....
It's nice to hear that the girls themselves thought it was the beginning of the end when Geri left cause I certainly felt like that. Goodbye was My School Years Leavers song in 2007
You are still soo awsome mel c i love you tons.i wish they asked more about her solo stuff too.anyways i really enjoyed this.xoxomarianne P.s.been a fan since 3rd grade and im 32 now🙂😁💖💖
funny cause goodbye makes me cry everytime I listen it and to see Mel C saying that's a hard song to sing brought tears to my eyes, like the pain I feel since I was a child by listening to it is the same pain they felt writing and singing it. I've met my best friends when I was a teenager (I'm 27 now, a spice girl fan since I was 3) and they like spice girls since they were children as well and when they toured, we cried so much watching goodbye live performance on youtube, all together, hugging each other and crying in silence, not even singing the lyrics. I reckon if that pain is a massive fan base pain lol but anyways, next time I hope they tour in south america, it would be a dream coming true to cry watching goodbye live. ps: I just love how Mel C is so friendly and polite. me and my friends always tell each other that we are the spice girls and I'm posh since I was a child and played like we were the spice girls but now all of my friends (including me) just love Mel C and all of us wants to be the sporty spice lol
To be honest goodbye was suppose to be the last song from their prospective knowing mel c doesn’t want to be a spice girls by that time and cause they already inform the media about the 3rd album forever so they had to record and release forever with zero promo. I’m glad little mix is takin the break and not releasing new album after the tour
It Would be just so awesome to have a New Spice Girls album. Some fresh material to listen to, pop can be done at any age, watch Madonna, George Michael (RIP) and many others who keep making music and coming back. So many of us would be happy!
vocally she is a standout from her bandmates back in the day when and then now, no offense to the girls in retrospect. looking back i love Posh Spice then and i feel cringey about her now.
I don't know about that. Maybe you could mention your criteria of what makes a song "really respectable" to you. For example I would put Too Much into this category (it sounds expensive, lounge-ish, loft-ish) or Who Do You Think You Are (for production value)
You clearly don’t know their catalogue very well. They have at least 5 very respectable songs. Goodbye? Viva forever? Who do ypu think you are? So many
