She understands that her resentment won't put an end to violence so she's choosing to forgive her bullies and focus on taking care of herself and others, on spreading love.

Melanie has gotten me through so much, I've been bullied, insecure, and oversensitive, and she just gave me so much joy. whenever I'm sad or upset I just put on a melanie martinez song and use it to calm down. This is one of the best ones. She helped me get through all my insecurities, including one about a gap in my teeth, which I love now because it makes me think of her, and helped me to ignore the bullies. Thank you so much Melanie 😊❤

It’s crazy to think that I’ve been listening to her when she only had carousel and dollhouse out

As an autistic kid, who was raised by very weird, if not bad people, who constantly question authority, and always do what we want, this, this hit me. I never fit in. No one liked the weird kid who caused problems. I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. But despite that, I always had a good heart, trying to see the best in the people around me, despite the constant bullying, always open to forgiving if they asked. I have always been bullied, more so in middle school and before. But despite my forgiveness, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if hurt them back. I could think of a dozen ways to, without getting caught. But I didn't, because despite it all, I didn't want to hurt others, wether they deserved it or not. .

As a person who is a big target of bullying, this song is such a comfort for me. And this song is overall epic. But honestly if YOU bully ppl (for not good reasons, I mean you shouldn’t bully anyone but IF you have a good reason it doesn’t count) you don’t deserve to listen to Melanie. So that’s just a reminder that she does NOT condone bullying as this song means not bullying OR even bullying people back.

I can relate to this song in a few ways. I’ve never acted like the “cool” kids at my school (funny thing is they pulled the fire alarm in PE class)-I always felt left out in break or classes if none of my friends were there. It always felt like they were trying to stay away from me as much as they could. I am pretty good at my classes though, so the only time they care about me is if they see an opportunity to copy me. They were always acting really fake and rude and chaotic, but I never really hated them. Tysm Melanie for this song!
