I used to sing along with this when i was 14 years old. I was not wrong then.......i still think she is one of the best singers in my lifetime. Saw her perform a few times here in the Netherlands....
I almost forgot about this once in a lifetime viewing on the Ed Sullivan Show when I was a 10 year old kid. Melanie was such a beautiful person with a truly amazing voice that could move the angels to tears. I only remembered her pop tune of “I Got A Brand New Key” from when I was about 12-13 years old and didn’t realize that she also sang “Look What They’ve Done To My Song Ma” or this beautiful song-“Peace Will Come”. Thank you and RIP Melanie.
I recall watching this on Ed Sullivan one Sunday night as a teenager. It blew me away then! The worst of Vietnam was on TV every night. Melanie captured not only the studio audience with that performance but every family watching from home. Very powerful! Thanks Mel💖
Crying. She is Eternal. Forever. I am sad because she passed. But I am returning to better times and memories and maybe great memories are ahead. Precious lady, rest, smile, sing, dance and fly now. Never forget us. We will never forget you.🙏🌹
I hear you. I just turned 74 in February. Her voice just carries us along.....When I look up and see the brightest star it's Melanie looking down and asking no singing There's a Chance Peace will come in your life Please BUY ONE.
The praise that Ed Sullivan gave you was amazing! He compared you and your impact with young people to Elvis Presley, you couldn’t pick a better tribute!
Something I'm going to do at the end of chemo and if you be cancer you ring the living Bell I'm going to play your song Ring The Living Bell because the song gives me so much strength love you thank you for all your music
@@floydbullock8926 i hope you do Floyd ! and i hope you are still hanging in there. I truly believe in offering up whatever difficulty large or small each day for someone else suffering helps.
Melanie Safka was on the last episode that Ed Sullivan hosted on May 28, 1971. There was a special for Memorial Day (May 30), but Jack Jones guest hosted that. The Ed Sullivan Show was then sadly cancelled. I'm glad Melanie was there for Ed's last show...He raved about Melanie...and rightfully so!!!
Melanie, You carry so much power & honest emotion in such a small body! After all these years, I still believe there's a chance for Peace! To treat others with compassion & love. However there are days when I become overwhelmed by the anger, fear & hate in this world, especially the last several years. That's when I need music & remember the feelings of gathering at places like festivals (for the Earth, protesting for clean air, water, food, nonGMO's, taking care of each other, etc) there are many of us who still believe..... Thank you for the songs, the hope & love
This is my favorite rendition of Melanie doing this song. For a long while, it was missing from the Melanie page. Please don't take it down again, Melanie. I love it, and I'm so glad it's back.
There's STILL a chance PEACE will come in my lifetime. There's always HOPE as long as there are enough of us who want it with all our hearts and souls. Posting appreciated. Melanie Safka's recordings always offered comfort to those of us working so tirelessly for less suffering and more harmony. Appreciation to her as well. PEACE, LOVE, BREAD AND JUSTICE for ALL.
I think she is one of the best of all times and I like many others, feel in love with everything about her! I got to sit behind her at the old Corral nightclub years ago as I ran sound for a band she was coming out to see. It was my only starstruck moment of my life and I will regret never saying hello! So just in case she sees this....Hello Melanie!
There's a quote I heard back in those days, I wish I knew who said it: "You can't end war by hating war, but you can achieve peace by loving peace." You get what you focus your energy on, no matter what energy you're focusing.
This song should have a million hits. I remember when it came out and watching this at the time and buying Melanie's albums. She was incredible. I always play this song here and there and share it with others when times seem bleak, which they do right now. It gives a glimmer of hope, if only for a few minutes. ❤️
Knowing just now of Melanie Safka's passing and how things are in Israel and Ukrane made me want to watch this hoping "Peace will come according to plan" eventually...
I’m willing to take a chance on peace since I probably can’t buy a chance these days, But this song reminds me of my roots. . . . At a time I can feel the velvet hills.
Carole Dickerson humans. have not been civilized since the.."dawn of time" I went off to war in 1968..it was not pretty..after 52 yrs still haunts me when I close my eyes at night! to me this hits me in my soul...✌️😎❗️❗️
I followed your instructions to the letter. The slab was ruined. Burnt to death. Entire slab went I. The trash can. How do you get your charcoal to burn cooler? I'm frustrated and ready to quit.
You have all the stage presence and charisma of an Elvis, or a Ronald Reagan. That you seldom abuse it gives me renewed faith and hope for our whole music "biz..."
