They was such a great combination. I used to watch this show when I was a kid. So proud to see a black couple so talented ..And in there on TV show back in the 70's
I remember being sooooooo body shamed back in 1971-1972 when I was as skinny as Melba and now everyone is commenting on how "fine" she was then. 🤔. So glad I later learned to love myself. 💕
On Tuesday night October 5, 2021. This my First times watching this show. I didn't know they had a show together. Thank you U-tube for sharing this. ☺😊😀💖💜💚🎵🎼🎧🎸🎷🎤🎺🎻🎹🎶
The good Ole Days, back in the day. Life seemed more relaxed then. Maybe, too relaxed, the intensity of every year, keeps us on our knees before God 🙏💕
For people who don't recognize her, I believe that's Moms Mabley as the landlady. Melba and Clifton were an attractive couple. There's another clip of them singing 'Never Can Say Goodbye' together in 2015 , so it's nice that they still seem to be friends.
Forget about loving and respecting your own ....love comes in many flavors so stop that nonsense. Anyway, I will say this....'that's back when black men loved and respected black women'. Now-a-days, many black men don't even love and respect themselves let alone black women...things have done a downward spiral. Maybe, black men need to get back to their roots....a relationship with God.
WOW! I was only 9 yrs old @ that time...and i never knew they were a couple! I remember Clifton Davis as an actor, and i remember Melba Moore singing "you stepped into my life" when i was a very young teenager🤔 These are beautiful memories..just wow😍❤
I loved the way Black men claimed their women! They were so bold about their love. And the bold statements they made !Nobody was trying to be politically correct!Clifton Davis was gorgeous! They couldn't keep their hands off each other
Even though Clifton is currently married, I sure miss seeing these two together. The chemistry was great. I recently went to see Melba LIVE, and she mentioned Clifton Davis with a sparkle in her eye. Thanks for posting.
Clifton & Melba made such a cute couple! Always with their arms around each other. Adorable lil showcase of singing talent. And I LOVED the bit with Jean Stapleton performing Aretha Franklin's hit! She was gettin' down!
I just adore this and can watch it over and over. They knew how to make being in love feel so good to be in love during that time and now. I love this. Thank you.
In 1972, when this aired, I was only 3 years old and I wouldn't fall in love with Melba for another 4 years. This clip is like makes me fall in love with her all over again. Melba and Clifton were such naturals, and their love for one another practically bursts through the screen to warm and welcome you. Class Acts.
ShangoJamal MELBA IS HOT, SHE IS 26 YEARS OLD HERE...SAME AGE AS MY MOM WAS...HARD TO THINK OF MY MOM THIS YOUNG..BUT SHE WAS, SHE EVEN WAS THIN, WITH A BIG AFRO, LIKE THIS...I LOOK AT SOME OLD PICS
Clifton Davis' ability to re-pitch lines in songs to his own liking is very similar to Billie Holiday's ability to do the same thing. That "My love is strong you see" was genius.
Melba Moore and Clifton Davis are Two of the best that ever did it-Definitely a dynamic duo!!! Beyond gifted!!! It's practically unfathomable the heights these two would have reached had the relationship survived the fame and all that it comes with. I feel blessed to have experienced the talent and greativity (made that word up specially for them) There really are no words to summize,,,if don;t know-Now ya know...better ask somebody!!! I love you both!!!
Melba Moore is a phenom. I have really slept on her talent in my lifetime. I mean, I always knew she could sing and was very respected but, seeing her here in her prime I really get it now. This sister is AMAZING! She's like some kind of Tammi Terrell/Judy Garland/Aretha Franklin/Barbara Streisand Hybrid or something. FLUIDLY versatile. I can DEFINATELY hear in these 70s clips the influence of working with Val Simpson.
I was overseas serving my country during the Viet Nam War when this came out and right before the military I was in the Jib Corps. So I missed all of this. But I am just really getting up to speed on Melba. I remember "Love Coming At You." But a continuation of Military Life, man did I miss out on a lot of Melba. She is phenomenal!
So funny that Melba's kissing all over Clifton's neck & then says" I don't know you well enough" when he asks her why she doesn't want to marry him!! Baffles me also why they never married!!
I remember the songs, but I guess I didn't watch TV then. Great Talent. Clifton got even better as a Pastor. I haven't watch Melba Moore, not sure what she is doing.
