The Metcalfe card model brewery is a prominent feature on my model railway. I often wondered how it would operate in reality so this video presents a summation of my research into just what goes on to produce a pint of beer.
Starting in the barley fields around Melchester, farmer Barleymo transports his harvest to the brewery. The small Ruston 48ds shunter "Queen Anne" is the ideal locomotive to operate in the small siding that runs into the brewery. She shunts the loaded Allsopp's beer van into the BR goods yard ready for it to be collected by a pick-up goods train.
At the end of a long day farmer barleymo heads down to his local for some well earned refreshment!
Special thanks to my friend Hiromitsu Maeda for singing the song "Queen Anne" by Peter Warlock while I accompany him on the harpsichord.
