As an autistic and really naive person, I believed in Santa until 9 too, it was really embarrassing when the Teacher asked ironically if anyone still believed, I raised my hand and literally everybody else started laughing 😢
I was made fun of when I was 13. I knew my parents bought the presents, but I also knew Santa was a real person at some point and this tradition is in honor of keeping his and the holiday spirit alive. But I had a hard time explaining it at the age as I was still technically a kid, so my classmates thought I meant Santa still gave me gifts and made fun of me. P.S. forgot to mention I'm AuDHD
I’m also autistic, but I went to opposite route. Due to my pattern recognition, I stopped believing in Santa when I was 4 or 5. Then, when I was 9, a frenemy approached me and asked if Santa was real. I said, “No.” and then, he said, “Okay.” and then walked away. Several years later, I realized that he was probably hoping I’d say “yes” so he could bully me over it.
Honestly, I was on the fence for a long time until a couple years back when my parents and older brother were going in and out of my parents' room as well as up and down the stairs. That was pretty much the smoking gun, as much as I wanted to deny it. @@fanime1 Does AuDHD mean you have autism and ADHD? In that case, we're in the same boat.
One year when our oldest was starting to doubt Santa. We had a cat track ashes out of the fireplace in a way that suggested boot prints. The kids saw and they were convinced he was real. I did my own boot prints the following year. So we got two more years before the bubble burst. They all still talk about it over 10 years later.
Well you see Perry the Platipus, I was introduced to Santa Claus by my parents. Santa always brought presents for my parents and ROGER. But never for me. I thought it was because I was a bad boy. But I still managed to get presents from my family. So I didn't have any reason to hate Christmas. I mean I had an entire song and dance number saying that I wanted to hate Christmas. It was during on of those Christmas Specials we had. Remember the time we all got what we wanted. Anyway, back to my point. I always pretend to be Santa Claus for Vanessa. She was grumpy, but I'd think she appreciated it.
When I was younger, my "proof" that Santa was real was that my parents were too poor to get me all those presents. Yet...I was still fairly unsurprised when I looked it up one year on my phone and discovered an article for parents about how to tell their children Santa wasn't real.
I discovered it by myself. I can remember little me hiding underneath the table and wait until I saw Santa. When I saw my mom coming down and putting presents underneath the Christmas tree I showed myself and said:' Mommy, your Santa Claus!'. She was angry😏😏😏
🤣 lol I wish I was that sneaky 😂 I remember not being too upset when I finally realized he wasn’t real, in fact I found out from a wayside school book of all things 😆
Our children believed for a very long time. Their Dad would get on the roof with big boots and bells and stucks for stomping reindeer ho ho hoing. Leaving gnawed carrots on the lawn. He did it up big about midnight every year. The girls would run in every christmas morning swearing they saw him. Boy i miss those innocent faces believing in the magic of Christmas. They are in their 40s and we lost their dad a few years ago. But it still warms my heart with those memories
I genuinely felt sad for Meli when she heard the truth about the photo.. poor Meli lol Alex ruined it for her 😭 it’s so wholesome she believed it for that long! (Maybe that should be a concept for a Hamster and Gretel Christmas special?? Anyone with me on this?)
Ohhh, that is just so stinkin' cute! Thank you for sharing the most positive stuff on your channel. Sure, you may get serious sometimes but, you're always kind & relatable about things. I'm just in Canada. 😂😂
I mean ... I was 12 when I "stopped believing," my parents let us kids decide when the time was right for us. Btw I used air quotes because at that age my belief changed from believing in Santa the person, and started to believe in Santa the representation of the spirit of Christmas.
i just wanna say, i believed in santa til i was 10 because i didn’t get a thing that i had asked for. it was the only thing on my list.. my parents said it was sold out everywhere my response now as an adult? “it wasn’t turboman! it was a doll i could do hair on!”
I believed in Santa until I was 12. My whole class said he wasn't real even the teacher and I cried at school. The teacher said to show her evidence. I tried my best to find evidence of Santa Claus being real. I looked up this paper about Santa using wormholes. I gave it to the teacher the next day and she said it was interesting. After that I grew out of it.
A few years ago we put our camera on a tripod and I set up a “tripwire” at the fireplace to turn it on if something came thru. Then after daughter was asleep we recorded a few seconds of living room as-normal, jingled some bells, “static-interfered” the image (put a sheet of bubble wrap in front and crackled paper behind it), paused the recording while we arranged everything, then resumed the recording for a few seconds. Christmas morning we told daughter “the tripwire worked but we didn’t count in Santa’s magic scrambling the video…”
Every time a child stops believing in Santa, a little more magic leaves the world. This is a story where a little magic was rrrrrippped out of a child and chucked through a plate glass window with hilarious laughter. Thanks for sharing. (P.S. I still believe. My magic is safe.)
Hopin you have a good christmas and new years Dan. I remember growing up I used to leave surpees out for Santa all the way up to my teen years every year as a tradition. I would wake up to it bing half drunken in the afternoon because I used to sleep in a lot back in the day. Then my older sis had to ruin the story for me when i turned 14. XD yet I still crackedup at myself afterwards overtime till I caught it myself by staying up later then my bedtime back then for evidence. lol
Dan, it's your storytelling with pictures skill that are good. Didn't you realize they made gifs with your show and memed it... Somehow, when people look at it, it seems to make sounds. Even though gifs don't have sounds! That's how good you are!
I was always told if you don't believe in Santa you are a naughty kid, and I always wanted to be a good kid. I basically learned from all that if you lie, you're naughty, you believe the truth you're naughty, you are a bad person no matter what you do, and perhaps that's a huge reason why I hate myself to this day, even at 27.
I still believe in Santa and I'm 24 and living on my own, but I go to my families for a sleep over so we can wake up together as a family and Santa knows that I'm there. Dan you have a Santa mode so when it's Christmas you transform into Santa and deliver gifts. Nobody can tell me to not believe in Santa and I think your fans can keep it a secret who is Santa. Dan Povernmire
I had a really weird implanted memory from a dream that you DIED. It made me so sad, and I went to check if that was real. Thank God you're still here.
Oldest is 14... Still believes. Youngest is 10. Still believes. They still get gifts from Santa every year. So... Who am I to tell them otherwise?! 🙂🎅🎄💖
uuh hey dan,I'm 34 (well I'll be 34 tomorrow on christmas day) and I still belive in santa,so I don't think it's strange at all for her to still belive
Dan you may not see this but I have a request from you! Could we please get all of the Milo Murphy’s Law songs on an album because it never got that unlike how Phineas and Ferb got an album I would love to be able to easily listen to the music into the future without the fear of them going missing due to time.
I have a funny story, I was still in the age range (I think) and one time I parents caught me trying to walk down to the mailbox to mail my letter to Santa and my reasoning was "I'm old enough, you don't have to do it all the time for me" I had to be told sometime before got into middle school iirc because parents just kinda assumed by that time everyone would know but... I am an only child but... have some cousins younger than me and my parents had to kinda force me to not tell them since.. well obviously.. but it just felt funny at the time playing along when I was well aware from like literally maybe a week or so ago On a funnier note there was a time when my parents were like "we have never lied to you" and then I just said "Santa" (because was a little jerk and didn't fully grasp *why* they did it) and they then had to argue that it didn't count lol
Santa is real to ne, I've seen him in a dream, With his rosey red cheeks and coke bottle glasses The man had the Aurora borealss follow him it was beautiful as it passrs, as Saint Nick put the christmas presents under the tree with care, he suddenly noticed that I was there ,he put his finger to his finger upto hid lips with a shh amd then went bacl up the chimney with a grand push
So I have severe ADHD, which may actually be autism, and here's the thing; not only did I still believe until 11, my parents had to sit me down and tell me, so that I wouldn't start middle school still believing. That is when they also confirmed the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc. They asked me to meet the magic going for my little brother (4 years younger and already having solved it at this point). Because of this, he was convinced I still believed in Santa until I was 16. So at least it wasn't that?
too funny... on the side, are you familiar with the conspiracy theory that phineas is the son of doofenshmirtz? and that this is based on the shape of their heads (triangular with a poof of hair at the top), both are super geniuses build crazy devices, and that the platypus knows this?
Really I was 13 when I stopped believing. In Santa. …….and god wish makes me sand Pesta mystic, but I’m in the most optimistic person, most of my friends have ever met They told me them selves.
Your probably not going to see this but can you say bah humbug you parry the platypus in your doctor Dufinsmerph (I'm terrible at spelling) pls i've finished watching the show again its probably the 4 time i finished it
