Award-winning journalist and World Vision Ambassador Melissa Doyle AM, is among some of Australia’s most inspiring women who are raising their voices to empower 1,000 girls.
As one of the country’s best-known and most-trusted media voices, Mel uses her platform to lift others up, both here in Australia and overseas. She has travelled extensively with World Vision over the years and seen firsthand the challenges faced by women and girls living in the world’s toughest places.
In this video, Mel raises her voice for girls by sharing the story of Leon, from Zambia. Like Mel, Leon wants to be a journalist when she grows up. She wants to tell the world what’s happening in her community so her friends don’t have to go hungry or be scared of walking to school.
World Vision is calling on Australians to join Mel in our movement to sponsor 1,000 girls by 11 October, International Day of the Girl. You can help rewrite the story of a vulnerable girl.
