Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye, “Making Zion: Insights on Living with Contradictions from a Latter-day Saint Scholar”
Latter-day Saint scholar Melissa Inouye is a self-described bald Asian American Latter-day Saint woman scholar. In her professional life she researches Chinese history and global Christian history. In her personal life she's a mother, a Primary pianist, and a cancer survivor. With all the metaphorical and literal hats she wears, she's very accustomed to feeling out of place. That's why she's thought a lot about how we can we make enough room for people who don't fit the traditional mold in our diverse and globally reaching Church. What does it mean to become a people "of one heart and one mind"? Inouye discusses contradictions we sometimes face while striving to make Zion together.
