I have the Makita XGT blower. That thing is way more handy than I even thought when I bought it.

I’ve been watching the Awesome Framers guy use his a lot in the videos and I’ve been wanting one ever since. If I ever find a deal on one I might give it a go… or if I become famous enough on RU-vid that I can afford to use every platform of tool 😂

I have the Dewalt version of this thing. It’s a surprisingly good tool for a knockoff, but I worry about how it’s interacting with my battery and how long it will last. I got mine off Amazon for $35.

Yeah it’s always a gamble with using your batteries. I never leave my batteries in these tools when I’m not using them. Sometimes they will drain your battery and kill them

I have the 18v Makita version and I’m amazed how much they have copied it lol. I wonder how they would compare side by side.I love the Makita one. So much better then throwing away money on little cans of computer duster cans.

I would like to hear the sound difference… this one blows enough for what I want it for, but it’s super load. Maybe one day I will run into someone that has one. Not likely though… Makita isn’t really available/used where I live.

@@MORGANSMaintenance ive had the makita das180 for about 5 months and was suprised when i saw a dewalt and a milwaukee knock off on amazon. i bought the milwaukee and according to my anemometer and water lift gauge the knock off model is only very slightly less powerful , with a similar noise level. like makita is 475 mph and the milwaukee was 460 mph. of course id imagine the makita might last longer. there are 2 knock off versions, an 80,000 rpm(50 bucks) and a 50,000 rpm(38 bucks), you want the 80,000 one

You know I love my M12 blower. I use it a lot to blow off my sidewalks, more so than my Ryobi leaf blower. I do wish Milwaukee made a Fuel model of the blower. It is awesome that someone made a Makita model of their blower for different battery platforms. I guess I’ll be getting into the M18 platform now, thanks Morgan…lol!

The M18 blower is crazy good… they even have one now that takes two batteries, I can’t imagine what it does. I like the M12, just not the size of it for what it does.

I bought this after watching the video , I have the Makita and use it daily it’s awesome. The Meliff is much louder thn the Makita and the safety button is very hard to depress I may deactivate it as I don’t see a real need for it. I paid way too much to get into the Makita 40 volt system but glad I did they now make it in the 18 volt LFT you will wonder how you lived without one of these after you use it a while.

I wondered about the sound… I’ve never seen a Makita in person 👍 I’m also curious if the attachments on the Meliff fit the Makita. They look very similar and the for the price you can almost buy the Meliff just for the attachments if they fit the Makitas.

@@MORGANSMaintenance yes they fit and it’s a direct knockoff I haven’t checked to see if it has the filter like the Makita but I’ll let you know. Not sorry I bought it ! You are draining my savings man “ keep it up !” Getting ready to order the Veto MP1 you reviewed.

@@lockhammer3481 appreciate it 👍 I use my MP1 nearly everyday… it was hard to swallow the price for a small pouch, but I would buy another one tomorrow. I’ve thought about getting the MP2 a time or too, but someone said they are coming out with new pouches… (I haven’t heard that personally)

I'm on the Makita platform but have started to use Milwaukee 12v also. I really liked the Milwaukee 18v vac over the Makita so I bought a battery adapter. It works great for the Milwaukee little 120v cube forgot the name with a Makita batt. Bought the Milwaukee vac and no go. I actually ended up buying 2 because I thought the first was defective but they both did it. It would work fine on the first start but not start again unless I removed and reinstalled the battery. I ended up just buying the Makita vac and truthfully it works great. Point is sometimes those adapters don't always work right.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 10 месяцев назад
Yeah they can be finicky on certain tools. I only use them on lights, blowers, etc. I would rather get a tools in my platform… but it’s not always an option. I’ve done the multiple platforms, batteries, chargers before, and I try to keep from doing it now. M12 and M18 is enough for me.

@@MORGANSMaintenance Most important thing about adapters - usually (95%) they have only two contacts, positive and negative. There's not third contact that is used for communication between the battery and the tool (to put is simple) and provide thermal and discharge protection. Some adapters may damage the battery.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 10 месяцев назад
@@Stefan_Kawalec very true. You have to keep an eye on your batteries and not run them dead. I only use mine on tools that I use for little spurts with a fully charged battery. If I need to use a tool a lot… you need to buy a tool that works with your battery.
@Heizenberg32
@Heizenberg32 10 месяцев назад
The M12 shop vac is/was known for that problem. After thermal protection would get triggered for the first time it would trigger much more often from then on.

Interesting review, I wouldn't mind a little blower like this. I do have a soldering iron from Mellif that utilises the Makita batteries. Like this blower you can tell that it is built more to an adequate standard rather than good, but as you said, you get what you pay for. There is certainly a market for Mellif, but will be interesting to see how long it last for more commercial use rather than DIY.

I have almost bought several of their items. Typically the only time I even might buy a tool like this is if it’s not offered by whatever tools I’m using. Had Milwaukee had one, I wouldn’t have considered buying this and would have bit the bullet on the price. That or it’s a tool I will likely only use very few times. Even with Milwaukee not offering it I still would normally buy something like the Makita and use a battery adapter if it’s a tool I would use in heavier applications or really often. I just didn’t want to pay $200 plus an adapter for one not knowing how much I’d use it. I figured $50 is a good test case to see how much I’ll use it.

Ryobi will be coming out with a similar one to this in October 2023. The Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Compact Brushless 220 CFM Blower with 4 attachments (2 extension tubes which can be combined to provide an extended reach of up to 20", a speed tip (smaller narrow nozzle) and a flat nozzle. Variable speed trigger with lock function. Model number PSBLB01B (tool only) estimated price $99 and Model number PSBLB01K (Kit) includes 18V 4Ah Lithium Battery and Charger estimated price $149.

Picked one up recently and it's pretty darn good for $50 bucks. The trigger lock button is annoying, which I'll modify, but other than that this compact blower is handy. I hope it lasts but not expecting it to. Milwaukee should come out with their own version as the Makita XGT blower is (was) very tempting.

The Makita has been selling well, hopefully the other brands will see the worth. The trigger lock is silly
@Stefan_Kawalec

To install the nozzles you don't need to turn them. Just push the nozzle forward on the tool receptacle. Nozzles have these compliant structures that flex when installed. The best nozzle is the 3/4 " or so one (5:35). As per Bernoulli's principle you get the most air out of it. With Makita you don't get any flexible hoses. They're expensive AF ($17 US for a single hose) and you need to buy them separately. Makita itself as a tool is relatively quiet, their motors are state of the art. It's the airflow that makes the noise. I never use it any other way than highest setting. It's a bit weaker than the air compressed to 8 bars and blown through the blowing/cleaning nozzle. But I don't have to carry my Systainer compressor and I have unlimited supply of air. For everyday tool maintenance, blowing holes for epoxy anchors, cleaning vacuum cleaners filters and cleaning myself from the dust - it's the best tool ever. As for blowing the leafs - it's doable :)

@MORGANSMaintenance 10 месяцев назад
Yeah I think the sound factor will make a Makita worth it in the end… this one is much louder than the video portrays. One day I will find a deal 😂
@Stefan_Kawalec
@Stefan_Kawalec 10 месяцев назад
@@MORGANSMaintenance In general all blowers all loud, but I can imagine that knock-offs are even louder. Check that nozzle installation please.
@txvet7738
@txvet7738 10 месяцев назад
Heck if it isn’t any louder then the Ryobi handheld blower then it’s a winner for me. I use the crud out of my Ryobi blower, I just hate how you feel the heat from the motor through the handle. You get what you pay for with that tool though.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 10 месяцев назад
@@Stefan_Kawalec you can push it directly on… but it also has a small groove a little off center that you slide it in and turn it to the center and release the “collet”. I was able to just push it straight on though. Maybe the groove is more for taking it off. The instructions don’t say anything… they don’t even mention the deflator, some people will look at that and say what is this 😂
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 10 месяцев назад
@@txvet7738 yeah I haven’t used it. I have an old Bosch 18v with a battery adapter, the M18, M12, and now this. It’s as loud as the others… but it’s a higher pitch that makes it “louder”… in my opinion

Does your unit make the milwaukee battery blink that the battery is dead, even when it's not? I double check it by putting it on the charger and it shows green and full bars after less than 3 seconds.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 9 месяцев назад
Mine hasn’t done that. I don’t leave a battery on it when I’m not using it, or use one long enough that it would deplete the battery. I have had that happen on my M18 tools with my High Output 6.0 batteries. I put it in my Rear Handle saw or Miter Saw, it won’t come on and blinks… I put it on the charger, it shows green and full, then put it back in the tool and it works. Not sure what battery you are using.
@functionalvanconversion4284
@functionalvanconversion4284 9 месяцев назад
@@MORGANSMaintenance yes actually its on the same battery. I haven't used the blower for extended period either, and it latterly does it if I use it for a few seconds. Thanks for letting me know, so it seems it doesn't damage the battery then. I'll try my smaller batteries and see if it behaves the same way. Thanks again!
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 9 месяцев назад
@@functionalvanconversion4284 I don’t normally use my High Outputs in the battery adapters or tools like this. It may not matter, but since the tool doesn’t have the chip that are in the Milwaukee tools “talking” to the battery, I’m not sure if it would do something weird. It may be 100% fine… I just don’t know.
