Here is a comparison of a Yamaha P37D, a Hohner Ocean, and a D'Luca M37 Melodica/Pianica. Feel free to leave any questions in the comments area, and visit www.richbegel.com for more of my work.

The first time he plays the Yamaha it's like, wow!, that is good! I was sold there to be honest.

Thanks for the comparison, I used to have a Hohner Superforce 37, but now I love the sound of Yamaha! It's way much better than Hohner, to my taste at least..

I don't know the Superforce, but yeah, Yamaha really has their act together. Their instruments are so responsive, and that goes into their brass instruments as well.

Yamaha sounds deeper and cleaner even than some 37 Suzuki.

I've had two Melodicas (Hohner Superforce and Walther) and I didn't like either one! My biggest problem is the inconsistancy of the air you need to make a sound, especially if you want to play silently. Some are very responsive at low blowing intensity, others need *a lot* of air to make any sound at all! Makes it impossible for me to play, and both my melodicas had this same problem. So I had this "delay" you talk about at 6:59 from the very beginning. Do you think the Yamaha is any better in this respect?

I understand. I am liking my Yamaha P37D; I think it sounds and feels great to play. If you're willing to spend $100 but not $300, that's the one I'd recommend.

The D'Luca sounds flat. Hohner and Yamaha seem pretty similar to me

Playing demos are very strange. Judging by the breathing there is no technique, no attack, pretty flat and uneventful. Yamaha is supposed to be a Pro instrument, but sounds like a toy. Sorry, useless.

Mostly this video offers a comparison of tone quality among a few instruments I had at my disposal. As for usefulness, maybe it's not for you, but many others have been appreciative.

The Yamaha is not supposed to be a Pro Instrument. The Suzuki/Hammonds are Pro Instruments. Not the Yamaha.
