I found out he only has it because he kept ripping out his intubation tube. He got in a car accident in 1999. I'm watch Chicago pd & noticed a little scar on his neck. Got curious. Googled & boom

Funny enough, I'm really late to the Chicago series, so I actually just watched that Eddie Little episode maybe 2 weeks ago. I'll go back and check out that specific scene again. lol.* *I think his gravelly voice just gives him more character for a sergeant. It's not necessary, but it does add that extra intimidation factor. It suits Voight well.*
@@AzNightmareit's because he was in a car accident years ago and was on ventilation, he tried to pull it out and unfortunately causes damage to his throat hence the raspy voice. 😢😊

In the 90’s homosexuality was so hard in the work environment, I live in Toronto and now is so common and you can be so disrespectful to them to tell something, here is so common to see them so open; but here in this tv show those men looked so handsome, gorgeous and with respect 🫡 each others and on the society

Although Jason Beghe is a very talented and experienced actor; there is no doubt his voice adds a little extra "gravitas" to the role, as does his graying hair and the few well-placed furrows across his brow. If only all actors, (male and female) were able to age naturally and still find such quality roles.
He was in a coma for 3 and a half weeks after a bad car accident in 1999. During that coma he involuntarily ripped out his breathing tube from time to time which messed up his vocal cords. A direct before and after, compare his voice in 1998 projects he was in to 2000 projects.

Wow that’s so mean why does his voice now has to sound terrible why can’t it just be different I actually like his voice now really suits the roles he’s in and he was in a car accident and kept on pulling out the tube that intimated him which is why his voice is DIFFERENT not terrible now
Beghe was in an automobile accident in 1999. He said, "I was intubated, and I kept pulling this tube out of my throat." This has left him with a voice described as "gravelly".
@L Clayton i had forgotten he was on it Melrose Place as well. his voice does sound terrible now and while yes it does suit his character on Chicago PD it's just sad that he got stuck with a voice like that. makes me think of John Mellencamp who also sounds like shit now but his is cause he smokes 2 packs of smokes a day.
