She's so precious; this is my first time seeing this page. My favorite part was when she said, "this is for young mothers," that blessed me. There's something so special about the older generation taking their time to teach the younger generation. God Bless
And Meme is doing exactly what the Bible says: Tit us 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Tit 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
I will forever be grateful for the tip of grating the onion. I have two children with autism that cannot stand the texture of onion but like the taste. Your tip will be well used in our household. Thank you thank you!
My daughter never liked onions when I made meatloaf, now you know you got to have onions in meatloaf so I grated them and you couldn't even tell the onions was in there🌞
I am 64 years old and was blessed to have 2 Southern grandmas with me for a long time.. I miss them, I miss hanging out in their kitchen.. Thank you MeMe for letting me hang out with you and take me back in time 20 years. ( yes, I had them both a long time. thank you God. )
Darling MeMe, this is my first time on your cooking site. You are so precious. Two things… 1. I love that you make “familiar” recipes. 2. I love love love that you don’t make your viewers wait through the entire cooking of the food. You show enough of the process so we understand what you’re doing, and then it’s “be right back!”.
A hobby I enjoyed in my pre-retirement years was collecting favorite casserole recipes from family/friends. So glad I did, too as one co-worker shared hers. Shockingly she died suddenly at age 37. When her daughter got a bit older, I gave her mother's recipe in her original handwriten format. Her dau was so grateful as it was one of the family's favorite recipe (which her mother had not writen down) and dau cried, too, as it was in her mom's hand writing. I get teary-eyed when I remember dear Sandy.
Thanks for sharing. My mom passed away September 15, 2021 and I have things that she has written that I am keeping because I lov3 looking at her writing. Very sentimental
I made this recipe last night using a half a package of the wide noodles and just over a pound of hamburger meat. My wife and I have always liked onion so I just chopped a half a small onion and added it instead of grating it. Used a half jar of Cheese Whiz but decided to add a drained can of diced tomatoes. Wanted a little something extra. Turned out great. I was surprised at how the wide pasta noodles added to the recipe as opposed to macaroni or spaghetti noodles. (Note: I've been doing the cooking for several years now because of my wife's health issues.) Always looking for new recipes. This one is another keeper recipe. Thank you.
MeMe - I can understand why you have a utube channel! I’m guessing you’re daughter strongly encouraged you to share your recipes AND your stories! You’re a great story teller as well! Your cooking reminds me of my Aunt Esther. She had these recipes that were handed down to her and man she could cook!! So thank you for sharing your recipes and your wonderful stories!! Gods blessings 😇!
Thank you Ms MeMe I so enjoy your recipes and your wonderful stories. I bet your family will always remember the feather story. Laughter is the best !! 😂❤ don’t you know. God Bless you for doing this wonderfully enjoyable UTube videos.
I love watching the grandma's cooking and techniques. You are just the sweetest. Just because it's old school doesn't mean it's bad. Just watch these videos and you be the judge. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, knowledge, and stories with us. Liked and subscribed to your channel.
Bless you for being generous to those college students! I remember what an incredible treat it was when my roommates brought back "real homemade" food from home. It was like Christmas! Lol
We tried the hamburger casserole Saturday night. It was a hit ! Every one raved over it. Thank you for sharing the recipe. My mother and I love watching you. The way you cook is a lot like the way we cook here in Tennessee. Anyway just keep posting your videos. We love you ! Remember shine for Jesus ❤
I made this tonight for me & hubs with 1/2 package of egg noodles, 1 pound of ground beef fried with 1/2 chopped onion & garlic, a can of mushroom soup and the WHOLE jar of cheese whiz. It was FABULOUS! YUM! Thank you for sharing!
I made this recipe tonight and we LOVE it. My daddy (he’s 82) and I love your videos. My mother passed in 2015 and you cook a lot like she did we are in Northeast Alabama.
I'll tell you, listening to this woman talk is good medicine for whatever may ail you. Will I ever get around to cooking this? I don't know. Sometimes spending a few minutes with someone like this means the world to those of us who don't have much family left and those who you have don't have a kind word to say to you.
MADE IT: I doctored it up a bit with a package of Lipton Onion Soup mix, couple dashes of garlic powder, about a good 2 tablespoons of parsley flakes and a half bag of frozen peas. I also made a really big batch (because I’m feeding 6 grown men and 2 little kids) so I used 3 pounds of ground beef and 2 bags of egg noodles, plus 1 can of cream of onion soup (w/garlic) and 1 can of cream of celery (by accident). I topped the whole thing off with some seasoned breadcrumbs that I mixed with a couple teaspoons of softened margarine and sprinkled on top of the cheese and put it under the broiler for the last 5 minutes or so to brown the breadcrumbs. It turned out great and all the men ate every single bit of it!! Thanks for the basic steps - I appreciated it very much!! God Bless
Mrs. MeMe, thank you for the great recipe today, I'm brand new to your channel and want you to know how much I enjoyed your way, and voice and story. I no longer have family left to spend this special time with but you make people feel at "home" and so comfortable. You know you really had me smiling with memories of the kind that only families seem to share together. My mom and I especially would get each other in trouble with laughter at more serious situations. Most seem to happen in church as we struggled not to laugh, even seated apart we would glance at each other with downcast eyes and crackup! Thanks for reminding me of those days!
Quiet places make it so hard to stifle laughter!! : ) I don't think you and I could sit together. Thank you for your nice comment and thank you for watching!
When you said “this is for the young mothers” I immediately subscribed!! I have 2 small children and been in such a dinner rut, trying to come up with some easy and cheap dinner ideas. Thank you for sharing I’m excited to make this meal for my family! God bless you 🤍✝️
You say it how it is. I really just love the way your so direct. “ this is for young Mothers” was my favorite part you said to ensure this recipe is respected for all.
Thank you so much Meme. You have been a blessing to me as I watch your videos. I’m happy I ran across you. Shine for Jesus brightens my day. God bless you.
I have tried the cassaroe, it was delicious. I coojed it with one pound of lean ground beef, onions, and green beans. I live by myself, my husband passed away almost seven years ago, my daughters live far away...my grand children live faraway too with there parents. I still live in the same house that i grew up, my husband and i bought the house from my parents we fixed it up. The house is a three bedroom 1 1/2 bathroom living room, kitchen, eating area, small basement, and a one car garage that use to be my dad's work area/ repairs. My dad worked full time as a machine repair man. When he arrived home after dinner he would repair lawnmowers, snowmobiles, and snow blowers for the neighborhood. Yeppers our house was the regular hangout for repairs on the weekends. When my two brothers grew up it became a hang out for repairing friends cars. I remember my mother would always fix meals in the kitchen to feed everybody that would bring in things to fix from small motors to big motors. Even toasters. Those were the days. 👍🛴🚙🏍👌👍
I made this for Sunday dinner at Dad's this last week My two kids loved it so easy to make and taste wonderful Just like MeMe said it would I served it with Mashed Potatoes Corn on the cob and a nice Kale salad and some fresh fruit . The kids are still bragging about this meal And the lest overs was even better the next day .
I have been cooking for over 55 years and watching you are usually learn something new like grading your own yen into what you’re cooking. How did I never not do that. Thank you so much for a great idea and it will make my cooking quicker and easier. Keep up the great work now I’ve got to get myself your cookbook one of these days.
You are one of only about 4 cooks I will ever bother to watch on RU-vid. When you’re not being fast about it, it’s because you’re busy being charming. I love that all your recipes are easy and pure blue-ribbon, down home, what-Momma-used-to-make! 🥰 🏆 (Well MY mother couldn’t boil water. Maybe that’s why I appreciate you so much! 😉 )
I'm here because you popped up in my recommendations. Thank you for a lovely and fun video. I did subscribe and now I'll get to go back and watch your previous videos. Thank you for the recipe and the life lesson - when MeMe says you put a pan under that flimsy tin foil dish, you better not turn your nose up thinking you know better. You might just wind up with your gravy and dignity all over the floor! 😅 Thank you again! Your friends from Southeast Texas ❤🇺🇸
Love your video here on this delicious casserole!! Looking forward to trying your recipe and onion grating. My favorite part of your video was "Shine For Jesus!". Goodnight from Columbia SC !😊❤ Thanks MeMe !!
I surely hope you have a second casserole to send to the boys because college boys can eat! When my college grandson comes home, my daughter says he eats everything in the house and she has to go to the store almost every day! Yes, those boys will wolf that pan down in 5 minutes! ❤
I’m so glad you’re on RU-vid now! Most of your subscribers can’t say they’ve had your yummy cooking but I can! ❤ I was happy to see Ms Kathleen the other day too! I hope you’re doing well! ~Steph Collins Rhoades
I love creamy dishes, but I can no longer have the dairy or fat. I'd like to share my Mom's hamburger casserole with you. 2 lbs ground beef, 1 onion, 1/4 cup ( or more to taste) bell pepper (I like to use the red and yellow), 1 jar mushrooms, 2 cloves garlic, black pepper, cayenne pepper, salt, and Italian seasoning to taste. Sauté these ingredients. Add 2 to 3 cans (14 oz each) diced tomatoes. Cook 8 oz of elbow macaroni and add to the meat mixture. Put in casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. I put grated cheese on the table for those who can eat cheese. Thanks for letting me share.
That's an old school goulash recipe(anglicized goulash) my mother made one quite similar right down to the jarred or canned mushrooms😂😂anyhoo i certainly had my share of this about once a month, my father liked it, our everyday standard dinner was Ribeye steak, rare/medium rare yum! Good tossed salad with my mom's excellent vinaigrette, she always sprinkled grated parmesan over and tossed it, baked potatoes with the classic fixings, sour cream, butter, chives, sometimes in the winter when chives weren't available (it was the 60's) we had rice pilaf...my dad would have that every night if mom let him but she craved variety and the exotic😂😂
Miss MeMe, you are a hoot. I'll be making this casserole for dinner tomorrow night and I thank you for it. My husband has to have shots in his back and I need something delicious that I can pop in the oven and still tend to him after his appointment. It's perfect. I love your sweet and genteel stories and your heartwarming videos. Thank you.
You so remind me of a dear friend that live next door to my parents in Florida she was from Kentucky and I miss her so much! Thank you for your videos. 🌼💛
Thanks. I make a Hamburger Casserole with Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I brown mild Italian sausage and then I brown my beef with onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt a little) and pepper. On another burner, I cook some frozen green beans. After mixing the Mac and cheese, I stir in the ground beef, Italian sausage, beans, and a can of DelMonte diced or stewed tomatoes with Italian seasoning into my Dutch oven covered, and bake on 350 for 45 minutes (we like it a little crunchy). Sometimes I add Carrow Way Seed when I'm mixing all the ingredients together.
I just stumbled across your channel and oh my goodness, you remind me of my husbands Granny that made the best southern food I have ever had! Thank you for sharing your family recipes with all of us. The younger generation needs to keep this good food moving through the generations. Blessings to you and I can’t wait to watch more!!
You are so wonderful to watch! You are taking me back in time and enjoying your pure love of life and your church and family. We had church in the home and many beautiful pot luck lunches afterwards to enjoy. Some of my best memories!❤
I truly enjoy watching you and your delicious southern recipes! I’m a southern girl too from NC and I love your kind of food. The hamburger casserole looks so delicious and I’m trying this soon! Thank you for sharing this ..
I discovered your channel a few days ago. I love it when you say let the "ingredients get really acquainted with one another." I am thinking that is probably a good first dish for my son to make for the family or something similar.
MEME I just love you and enjoy watching you so much! You are such a joy to watch and a darn good cook. You are a great story teller also! I know the boys enjoyed the casserole and im definitely going to try this one myself! Thanks for sharing this and I can’t wait to taste it myself
I just happened upon one of your videos and liked it so well that watched several. Had to make myself get up and do my housework. ☺️ So many recipes that I want to try. Thank you! I wish all people would try and shine for Jesus.
It's 11.30! Pm in Mississippi and I'm outside with my dog watching you and this looks so good, and now I'm hungry. You are so pleasant to watch a good good hearted lady.thank you for sharing this. God Bless you and yours
You are such a great person and a blessing to those around you! I never had anyone around me to do such nice things, I didn’t think such things existed. Stinks when you’re surrounded by selfish people and narcissists. You are so thoughtful of others!
