I grew up on a farm so far out you had to take two dirt roads to get to our dirt road. If I ever complained of being bored, my mother would hand me a broom or a rake, so I kept busy helping to cook. My grandmother lived with us, and she was a genius in the kitchen. She made her cornbread in a cast iron skillet, with never a ghost of sugar. Years later, when I was married, I invited her for supper, and, Lord forgive me, I made corn muffins with Jiffy Mix. I thought she was going to send me out to cut a switch! To this day, I put onion and salt in my cornbread batter. I think she'd approve of your recipe, Ms Diane. Have a great week!

I have a feeling my grandmother would approve of every single recipe! We always considered ourselves Southern, but really were between the south and southwest - we were from far southern Oklahoma! She has been gone nearly 40 years but we still miss her, and oh could she ever cook! She was a little old fashioned Pentecostal lady and I never saw her in anything other than a dress with “stockings” and block heels - even to work in her flower and vegetable gardens! She was quite a lady! I just hope our grandchildren remember us with same love with which we remember my grandmother! My husband loved her as much as I did! Bless you! my mom used to make this thanks for bringing back those memories. Some of you guys have inspired me to start my on channel. i had a stroke a few years back i wanted to start a homesteading content. we have lots of animals but my left leg isn't to good so have to use a cane left hand doesn't work at all so walking around with a Camra while doing my chores just doesn't work. lol but as i was watching some of you guys cook one day i thought what the heck i can cook and love cooking and talking. lol i can put the camera on a tripod so I'm gonna do it i made three little videos just fooling round talking cooking shared on face book got great feed back so down loaded to you tube for a start pray for me pleas .

Aww! Meme I love you to. I so look forward to each weekly video. As soon as I'm notified it's time to grab me a drink like a coffee or a Sweet iced tea (you know it's the house wine of the south). Actually it's been rather cold like in 40's each morning for the past week & its startin to definitely feel like Fall here I live in the Deep South Central part of Oklahoma. I'm about 4 miles from the border of Texas right on the Big Red River.. So today I've made me a hot white chocolate cappuccino. I'm sittin' at my kitchen table but pretendin' I'm at yours cuz its truthfully how it feels to me.. You 2 girls are no different than if I was sittin' at my Momma's kitchen table. Lost her 2 years ago in April... 😢 I'm for certain she sure woulda loved you & your cookbook... She collected cookbooks from everywhere around the world, well as long as they was translated to English. Not all but most all cookbook are translated to English. Most anytime Mom would be cooking somethin' up or another.. There was 6 of us kids. She'd tell ppl we was her guinea pigs when she was trying out some new recipe which she did a couple times a week. 2 or 3 of us kids would always be over to visiting her & we always knew she was gonna feed us. Sometimes all 5 of us girls might just show up at the same time. We'd sit around & be discuss anything & everything most nothin' was off limits but once in awhile Mom would snap her fingers & say now girls that's enough of that.. w We'd quickly say yes ma'am.. Cuz you sure didn't wanna here her say just your name by it's self.. I'm missing 3 of my 4 sisters & of course my Momma... it's hard knowing you only have one sister left her name is Debra Ann. We have one brother Glen Dale.. He sometimes would show up as well.. Him being Mom's only boy she kinda doted on him & make anything he Ask for to eat.. My Mom was a fantastic cook. Glen & I have always been thick as thieves. I'm the baby so he always watched out for me like big brothers do.. I have to say this you bring up good memories for me. Anyway you tell Lil' Ms KK (hope I wrote that right) She's just as loved to. Without KK I & many others wouldn't have this opportunity to get to know ya Meme I know she doesn't say much cuz she busy filming but her little comments are sweet.. Anyway guess I better say bte for now.. God bless you 2 girls until the next time . Be sure to take care of each other... 😊
