So I really don’t mean to be mean but there’s a lot of room for improvement here. First, your are lacking a lot of musicality. For example, you don’t let the piece breath at all. Take longer breaks inbetween sections. Another example is that you use hardy any rubato, even in sections that you are told to use it. Listen to trevinos recording. Third, I didn’t hear your interpretation of this piece, I just heard the sheet music. Make it your own. Also there were many wrong notes, even though you had multiple takes. Learn the music slower and stay at a slower tempo for longer. This solo isn’t easy but it shouldn’t very hard for a college student.
This comment right here is exactly why music education is so damn toxic and so many leave. No one in the music education world can help themselves from giving their two cents where it is not needed. This is a great performance of great quality, and his interpretation may just be different from yours. You can't just state your opinions as fact.
Matt Shay Lol. What in the world are you talking about? He was giving constructive criticism and he’s right. I thought the SAME thing he did. How do we get better as musicians unless we get feedback which makes us better at our craft? Stop being salty. Listen to Ivan play it. There’s no rubato in this gentleman’s playing. There are also some wrong notes to fix. While I personally enjoyed his playing, there is much room for improvement. Comments like this lead me to believe that you also probably have trouble taking feedback...think before you comment. Have a great day
