Can confirm, fish are able to drown. Fish breathe the oxygen that's in the water -- that's why it's super important to have a bubbler system or elevated filter when keeping fish in order to keep oxygen flowing through the water! And if you're keeping any kind of fish in a bowl, don't forget to agitate the water every 2-3 days to incorporate oxygen along with regular water changing & conditioning to keep your fishies healthy! - Love, Fish Dad

I just realized fish can drown, when you leave fish in a tank too long the water looses the oxygen since the fish used it all up and the fish basically suffocate on the water which is basically drowning so yea fish do drown! I guess that would work

X D fish can indeed drown because they actually breathe just like us but instead of lungs they have gills which absorbs the oxygen from the water but when the oxygen levels in the water are low due to pollution or other factors, fish can drown. :/
