Looking at a 2018 Scout convinced me that I should be a person who rides motorcycles. A month later I had taken the course and gotten my license. Instead of that scout I got a much cheaper V star as my first bike which turned out to be the better idea in hindsight. I'm still eyeballing those scouts tho and haven't changed my mind about getting one when I'm ready. So, I am curious about your experience with some things: -Was glad you adjusted the shocks and talked a bit about it here and I'd still like to know more. Take another 4 hour ride! -About the handlebars, you think the stock, or lower bars might be more comfortable in longer rides? Ape hangers always look so uncomfortable to me but... I wouldn't know. The stock bars on my v star have been great (actually everything but the high rev from the 650 at speeds has been great) But an hour and a half is the longest I've spent on it. 44 year old man with lower back issues I was worried about riding anything, but so far not a bit of discomfort. -Also the bushings in the handlebars, I think a more knowledgeable person than I mentioned an upgrade in the comments of your last vid, seems like a cheap area to reduce some vibration? -Your height/weight? Many people complain about the scout suspension being too soft but I wonder how heavy they are... 2 and a half cranks for a super large person might turn into a trampoline for someone like me at 165lbs. Subing just to absorb your scout experience... You start riding a chief and might ignore you for a few years until I convince myself I need an 800lb bike!
The stock bars hurt my lower back more for sure because I had to hunch over alittle bit more. I haven't heard anything about the bushings for the handlebars but I'll look into that, I personally don't think the vibrations of the bike are horrible. You're correct 2 and a half cranks to the suspension for me was perfect at 220lbs so you'd have to adjust it to your personal preference based off that, I will plan another 4 hour plus ride very soon I'm hoping to ride down to Gettysburg for bike week. Plus no worries at all the Scouts not going anywhere im in love with this bike and could never part with it, I'm only going for a test ride with the Chief. Thank you for your support I appreciate it.
