Remembering those who gave it all so that we can live in freedom. Speech from Ronald Reagan, 1985. Arlington National Cemetery championforest.org Created by Steven Miori
Always remember America a land fighting for independence from Great Britain won independence will almost no training not as highly skilled not as strong not as ready but fought and fought with a great leader that helped earn independence from Great Britain George Washington helped win the war and independence and yet 300+ years later will still fight for anything. America🇺🇸
My brother was 18 and a Marine in the front lines in Vietnam. Thank God he came home but another boy, a friend of his from home didn't make it. My brother was with him when he died. His name was Steve Lopeman from Chimacum in Washington state.
@Looking Out for My Own I see my mistake, but please elaborate more, before I confuse you with someone who just wants to be edgy and stand out. I deeply apologize
Very profound words from the great Ronald Reagan. God bless America, greatest country the world has ever seen, land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh, Ronnie! Where have ye gone?? We miss the staggering eloquence and heartfelt respect for our Vets you brought with you to the Oval Office. I'm-a gone to cry awhile. :'(
I am from India and my father was just a young Lt col in the army when he was kIA in Sri Lanka ... And the president speech moved me beyond word , thank you Mr president ..
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we shoukd thank God that such men lived." - George S. Patton To all who have lost or knows someone who served, I join you on this day to remember our heros who bravely gave their life to preserve our freedom. It is our responsibility to never forget nor take for granted what was gifted to us. Thank you all.
Respect for an upright and un"woke" message from Reagan - courage and honor you won't see or hear from the current shameful duo in DC power positions. Thank you, for your service. God Bless America 🇺🇸
Lost my 20 year old son in Iraq in 2005. The "two lives" part got me. So true. My son seemed wise from the time he was a child, but we missed the best part, I'm afraid. He once wrote: "Given a choice and an opportunity, I'd gladly do my part to "restructure" the commercial institutions that poison the society whose flag will one day be draped over my coffin. [/rant]" "
I'm sorry for your loss. What a great American your son was. I was a Corpsman for 2/4 Marines. I have never met a grater group of Americans than my Marines.
you lost a son, I lost a brother, everyday when I wake up I remember them, before I sleep I remember them. Not a day goes by when I don't think about them. It's amazing how close you become with those you fought with. I'm closer to the guys I fought with then my own siblings.
nnnnnie, I'm also a veteran of the Navy. Even though I served during peace time, I can not being to tell how your son death affect each and everyone of us. Your son was a strong man but nnnnnie you are a stronger women. A women I would be proud to call my mother. May God Bless and your family and your son. A person I would be proud to comrade in arms.
America is the greatest nation on earth where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and our civil society can flourish. We owe a gratitude of thanks to the brave men, women and their families who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Teach you children well.
@@cohengamertv6548 ??? your reply is not relevant to the video subject "Memorial Day Tribute - "Thank You" However the best answer to your question...Martin Luther King Jr. said it best in his sermon: Accepting Responsibility for Your Actions. To my father Kenneth Edward Roulette, born 4/4/21 died 4/4/97 very quiet deep thinking man,the very best father you could ever ever ask for, spoke very little about the war, only said how much he missed his fellow soldiers ,never said a word about what he did or saw in the war, after he died we found his military records, after researching we found out he was awarded the Purple Heart, numerous battle participation medals and of all things the Silver Star ,he was involved in some of the bloodiest battles in the South Pacific,we also found out he threw his silver star in a river in Tennessee after he found his best friend was killed in combat,my dad never mentioned any of this to his family, after all this he’d been he was so kind and gentle absolutely hated violence.til we meet again dad we all miss and love you so much.
My grandfather fought in Korea, what's known as the forgotten war. When he told me what he went through I did not see it as the forgotten war, but as the forgotten victory.
lost my beautiful wife in 2006 she was a marine rip babe miss you still love you today I have not even dated anyone sense I lost her I still wear my ring
I know this will seem shallow and disrespectful of your loss and what I imagine is the great love for your wife. Sir, if you honor your wife's sacrifice, you will find the courage to share your life with someone else. Your devotion to your late wife's memory is admirable. And I can only assume it was equalled by her love for you and devotion to our nation. We, as human beings, are societal animals. We need to be part of something bigger than ourselves. I can't believe your late wife would want you to continue to mourn her life and disregard any future happiness with someone else. Going through life without a partner by your side diminishes our full potential and deprives the community of a shining example that true love and faith affects us all and enhances the whole.
I served in Vietnam way before I met her we were only together 12 yrs I did 14 yrs in the us army she did more then 20 yrs in the marines I will never stop loving her I miss her a lot I have not even been with another woman sense my wife died in 2006 I still wear my ring
Dam buddy the ring part ripped my guts out. Dam glad you found her though as so many of us never found one that worked out. I'm envious and dam sorry for your loss buddy. Oh and Welcome home soldier thank you for defending this great nation dam proud of you.
First I’d like to thank you and your wife for your service and for your sacrifice. I would never presume to tell you to look elsewhere for love because it sounds like you guys were soul mates. I understand the pain associated with losing a marine, my big brother was a marine in Viet Nam, he came home and he was never the same, and he died much to young. Please know that there are people that are grateful for your sacrifice, and understand the depth of your loss. Semper Fi.
Every Memorial Day I keep returning to this video because I think President Ronald Reagan said it best. Many talk about how these *were* great men and women, but i say they *still* are great men and women. ☝️ Love hopes all things. (1 Corinthians 13 : 7)
I know a lot of ppl don’t want to hear Thank You for Serving but it is very important to me to know you are never forgotten especially today 2022 since we have so many cowards both Boys and Girls that don’t have any idea what you give up serving in the Military. Yes, I come from a Military Family and see what Our American Government gives ppl who have served in America’s Military not a dang thing and Our American Government should be ashamed of themselves and some of these young ppl that are scared to take a stand for their own ancestors.
America was worth fighting for...and still is. God bless America and all those who have served and are now serving our country. Thank you for your sacrifice. May we unswervingly stand up for America and all the she stands for. USA!
Jerry Brown Dec. 22 1941 - Nov. 17, 2013...My father, my hero. part of the Mercury Project, and was on the USS Randolph during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Thank You for your service Father. R.I.P.
Not American. …..served next to them….in less than a heartbeat would again….such a great speech by Mr. Regan….rest in peace Sir and may your words be heard, be understood and resonate forever…….
My father was a WWII vet along with two of his brothers. Another served in the Korean Conflict, another in peacetime. Their father was a doughboy in WWI. I have the greatest respect for all veterans. I just wish the people who send these men and women into harms way had greater wisdom and followed the warnings of our founding fathers and President Eisenhauer.
Love this speech. Love the man who gave it. Hoo-Yah to those who have fallen for this great nation. May we honor you by keeping it the 'shining city on the hill'...
Loving memory of all our military forces and their families. Seems like words aren't enough, but words of honor are all we have to give in return. God bless
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS GIVEN THEIR LIVE'S IN SERVICE TO THEIR HOMELAND'S GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND MAY YOUR HIGHER POWER BLESS YOU ALL TONIGHT IT'S NO SACRIFICE WHEN IT'S FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY
President Reagan had a way with words that gets to you. But yes, these are our true heroes we honor, salute and remember them. Their lives ended many decades ago so that we shall live. Thank you!!! ❤️❤️
I am a German Guy, and i am still crying for all the Kiddys who lost who lost their Mom and Dad, Sister or Brother. Rest in Peace an thank you for your Service
To them, I cannot repay the debt I owe. For them, I work at being a good, loving father and husband, a true friend, a loyal American, and pray that I would have the courage to stand, fight, and die for my country and each other as they did should the time come. These things will never be enough, but it is what I have to give, for them.
NO REAL THREAT? WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN THE PAST 16 YEARS?!?! LET ME NAME YOU SOME OF THE NO REAL THREATS THAT ARE IN THIS WORLD OF ARE'S : ISIS, THE TALTBAND, RUSSIA, NORTH COREA, SABIA ARABIA, HILRY CLENTEN, AND SOOO MUCH MORE.AND TO THOSE WHO DIED IN WAR, THEY WHERE FIGHTING BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THEY WHERE FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM, AND THAT MAKES IT EVEN SADDER BECAUSE THEY DIED NOT KNOWING THE TRUTH.
I pray often for my fallen brothers and sisters, their families and loved ones, as well as my own. Thank you on behalf of the fallen for not forgetting their sacrifice. Thank you for your support from all us Veterans. 🇺🇸
I've lost more friends in the Army to count (a lot from suicide) and man Memorial day really tears me up, but I know that they would want us to live good lives and be happy. Keep your heads up. Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸
*Thank you to the brave men and women that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. We honor that sacrifice today and every day and pray that the ones you left behind find peace.* ❤️
The US is honoring men and women who fought for the US. Iraq can honor their own fallen. US isn't obligated to mourn anybody, but they still do. Be grateful for that at least. How many countries outside the US mourn American lives being lost?
thank a vet for you being able to make that remark with out them you may not even be here so stay in your room and keep playing wow and not contributing anything but "stupidity
My Great Uncle was a captain in the war and was a beach master on Omaha. He went in before the first wave in the attack. He directed the landing on that beach and helped soldiers out of the boats. He was one of the first American soldiers to land in France that day. He also helped land General Patton in the invasion of Sicily at Salerno. He also served in North Africa. On Omaha, he was standing under heavy German fire. Somehow he made it out alive that day. He later served in the Korean War. He served in the Army in WW2, the Coast Guard in Korea, and then served in the Marine Corps, and Navy. He went to VMI and graduated at age 22 and was 35 in 44. After the war he became a sherriff. Rest in Peace Captain F Perry Williams and the rest of the soldiers who sacrificed everything as boys and served in the war.
Lord, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesus, and Moses. I have mercy on these young people. I have tears of my eyes on their children. I am a young man from Iraq. May Allah have mercy on them and make them in paradise.
And we say people like superman don't exist.... how funny Millions of super men and women have fought and are fighting for freedom, not just in the United States, but in the armies of our allies who have fought through the darkest periods on this Earth alongside us. God bless you all, you deserve much more than just a salute
I am Iraqi and I live in Baghdad and I am very sad about the wars that happened because we lost many friends and relatives, and you also lost your friends and relatives. I hope that their souls will rest in peace and I hope that peace will come to everyone. I am really sorry
My father-in-law passed last memorial day. The Army came and did the flag folding ceremony for him... It was outstanding!!! They were so sharp, and so smooth, the way the woman cradled the the flag still brings tears to my eyes. And the way the other gentlemen who brought the flag to my wife was outstanding, hat parallel to the floor, nothing less then Sharp! It was like I was at the Tomb of the Unknown! ( I was there as a child) It is something I will never forget. I am so sorry they had to leave before I got a chance to thank them personally. I wanted to tell them how special it was for my wife and I to have them there. That flag is now on a shelf on our wall. I look at it most every day. I am proud to have it there. My father-in-law was second generation Army! That day is a day I will never forget. Words can not say how thankful I am to all the men and woman who gave up so much to serve..... We will never forget you..... May God bless you all.....
Taking a moment, at least a moment, to remember those who gave up all their future moments . . . so we could have. . . this one. God Bless these men and women who gave EVERYTHING for you and me. God Bless America.
Dan Foxx Yes. This moment. This very breath, this look out our window, this right to have free will, to wear/practice/marry/do/study/travel/BE what we want, the freedom that we possess (and should never forget that we’re not entitled to), Thank you,” will never be enough. Forever indebted 🇺🇸❤️
I'm 15 and British , but my girlfriend is American and her dad, an ex Marine, so God bless America and thankyou to your brave men and women severing and that have served
Xander....very sweet sentiments....but if you want to impress your girlfriend's father.....NEVER call him an ex-marine. "Once a marine, always a marine."
there is no such thing as an ex-Marine," "Once a Marine, always a Marine. When people say former Marine, most oftentimes, it refers to someone who formerly served in an active or reserve capacity. I never met anyone who said 'former Marine' and meant it in any disrespectful manner. Definitely a taboo phrase would be 'ex-Marine.' "
At16, I also was too young and Brave as a blue robbin could be seeing a Cardinal. Courage is a nesting syndrome of humanity when we see ourselves in the arms of a soldier. Your DAD is an Admirable act of kindness to our family and this photograph is why I have voluntary respect of my education serve the military as my devoted life is accepted by the grace of the acceptance to be in a country where most couldn't. Withe love, Sincerely💙
R.I.P. My Great Grandfather James Paul Sparks Sr. Served in the US Navy (World War II) 1925 - 1980 you fought well you always put the mission first you risked to sacrifice everything for your family and for your Naval Brothers But Now That You Are Gone It Is Time For God To Give You A Long Rest
Few words spoken that truly touches our souls and no that we are for just human beings we sacrifice so much for our safety from the bottom of my heart to each and every family they have lost I love one I'm so sorry and I'm so thankful at the same time thank you💖
Great tribute from a great man and President. We have lost many of our military men and women of all colors That fought in battles for us and our land. They are buried in cemeteries around the world. That is why we stand for the national anthem for them, because they can't.
Who in their right mind would give this a thumbs down ? I guess it's up to us now to keep history told the way it was. I bet all those dislikes are from left wing school principals.
My goodness do I miss this man that guided this nation as a man; a decent and moral man whose convictions were on solid ground, and his actions had as their primary concern the welfare of this nation and it's people; all of them.
My deepest respect to all those who took the time out of their lives to put on this country's uniform and serve in this country's military. You have earned this nation's appreciation, honor, and thanks.--Tom Reilly
thank you America, for fighting wars to keep the peace, making the sacrifices we were to make, from your forever supporting ally,Australia and our brother, New Zealand, thank you
My father was killed when I was 4 1/2 years old; and I have missed Him every day since! He was a Major in the Air Force and was killed flying experimental Aircraft! The only consolation is a letter that explains to us kids why he felt compelled to serve! He served for US and for Our Freedoms! Although I have missed him so very much; I have always been Proud of my father and his commitment to what he believed! May God Bless the USA and the Men and Women of Armed Forces that he has Compelled to defend Our Freedoms!
honor and glory to all those men and women who have given their lives for their country, their loved ones and for world peace, greetings from Costa Rica ... thanks for your maximum sacrifice
Dear U.S. Veterans: Welcome home and thank you for your service!!! You, our U.S. Veterans, deserve the best healthcare that even God Himself expects our Veterans to receive, including first-do-no-harm healthcare. For example, the very great human resources and other resources of VA healthcare research capability may very well be what God uses to put an end to the international pandemic of mental healthcare iatrogenesis which is a major cause of psychiatric morbidity and mortality including suicides. However, the VA needs to take more steps to allow our U.S. Veterans to drive VA research and VA healthcare. For indeed, one of the most valuable human resources for such research and healthcare improvements is our U.S. Veterans themselves, including through empowering our U.S. Veterans to drive this research through educating and inviting our U.S. Veterans to ask their VA physicians and other VA researchers to help them achieve God’s command for a truly first-do-no-harm mental healthcare journey. For example, the VA’s Psychotropic Drug Safety Initiative (PDSI) success at decreasing the use of harmful psychiatric drugs (in a very limited area of VA use of these harmful drugs) was an important first step in improving VA mental healthcare as God Himself expects our great country to do for our absolutely great Veterans as proven in my ethics teaching and the best-in-class expert witness references in my 5/2/18 letter to the editor of the British Medical Journal, and my 3/1/18 and 8/16/18 Medicald.gov public comments (which are set in the context of two real-life current-events public health policy examples and) available for free at the following three URL addresses: www.bmj.com/content/356/bmj.j1058/rr-1 gov1.qualtrics.com/ControlPanel/File.php?F=F_82GUvJLhGv4erDn gov1.qualtrics.com/ControlPanel/File.php?F=F_4SLEiyf2ZtEeb4h These above resources clearly prove the crucial need for even more research and help for our Veterans in this area, as do experts Robert Whitaker and Derek Blumke in there excellent 11/10/19 report “Screening + Drug Treatment = Increase in Veteran Suicides,” which makes the sad and astounding finding that the increase in American Veteran suicides associated with an overall increase in VA mental health screening and psychiatric drug treatment clearly accounts for a greater number of U.S. Veteran deaths than all U.S. combat deaths since 9/11: www.madinamerica.com/2019/11/screening-drug-treatment-increase-veteran-suicides/ Our very great Commander in Chief President Trump and even God Himself expects much better for our absolutely great U.S. Veterans. Accordingly, for all U.S. Veterans everywhere, please feel free to share this open letter and embedded links with your VA physicians to start a proper informed consent discussion with your VA physicians about these lifesaving issues and how you may benefit from a Veteran-driven and at the same time fully physician-supervised reduction in harmful psychiatric drugs and the start of a first-do-no-harm mental healthcare plan. For you, our U.S. Veterans, are the most important healthcare researchers in the VA, and you should be driving VA medical research and care with every good work God gives you in this lifesaving medical research and care mission.
