I was just a kid, but 1964 couldn't come fast enough. Kennedy had just been killed in November '63, and everybody was still suffering from the shock of that. It's like we were all kind of just going through the motions of life afraid to have a good time or enjoy ourselves. Then came 1964. The Beatles, Goldfinger (best Bond ever), the great movies and TV shows, the exciting election (even though it was a slaughter for Goldwater), Vietnam was still a back burner police action, but people put their toe in the water again and dared to enjoy themselves and start having a good time again. While the Kennedy tragedy was never forgotten, 1964 allowed us to be happy without feeling guilty.
it was my birthday the night the beatles made their first US TV appearance on the ed sullivan show, and even though it was a "school night", sunday night, meaning that, i had to get up early the next day, monday am, to go to school, [4th grade], my dad let me stay up late to watch the beatles on ed sullivan. i couldn't hear any of their music, because the girls in the TV audience were screaming so loud. but i had a sense that this was something historic, for the music business, in the USA, and around the world. great video johnnyboy, and great memories. thanx.
@@rabbit64sj91 Me too! I had my tenth birthday on February 9, 1964. And I remember going out to a restaurant (a rare treat for my birthday), coming home to watch Ed Sullivan which was like a religion to us, and being astonished at what I saw. Next day in school, it was all we were talking about (the teachers had no idea - I guess they didn't watch Ed Sullivan), and I began to collect Beatles bubble gum cards and kept a Ringo doll in my desk. I also remember, as the camera did closeups on each Beatle, their name was flashed on the screen, but when it came to John, it said, "sorry, girls - he's married!"
@@ferociousgumby wow! What a wonderful memory for you, thank you for sharing it with everyone. And we share the same birthday too, with exactly ten years between us! Best wishes, Tim 💕
@@rabbit64sj91 You're welcome! The fact that two out of four Beatles are still recording and giving concerts is so gratifying. Ringo was my favorite, and I still think he's pretty cool. But I do miss the other two. Peace and love! ☮
Thank goodness you have the will to do the leg work thank you so much for bringing back all these wonderful memories feels warm and wonderful💖💖💖 also your friend Ira T.Y.
Would love to... but when 2019 hit youtube really began handcuffing me with copyright strikes. I actually had the video from their 1st appearance on the Sullivan show. Thanks my friend :)
Best one yet. I remember every event, movie and TV show (even what days and times.....Peyton Place, Tuesday's and Thursday's.) But you left out my favorite------12 O'clock High! Keep them coming. You are the best JohnnyBoy.
Many thanks... I actually had the footage of the Beatles first appearance in the first upload, but RU-vid is really breaking them off about copyrights. Thanks again :):):)
@@Johnnyboy792 yes indeed! I think my Dad was rather too old to be interested in The Beetles, at 36, but Mum was 24, so probably more contemporary in 1964! And I loved them, but was only just arriving in February 1964, so too early to realise it yet! 👶 Haha! 🤣😂
Hey Johnny, you did it again! I was just a toddler in 1964, but watched a lot of those old TV shows as reruns later on. I think you left out "My Favorite Martian" which came out in that year. I think just about everybody loves the Beatles, so that was cool, too!
I remember reruns of Hawaiian Eye and Surfside Six airing on W J W T V, channel eight during the nineteen sixty three nineteen sixty four television season.
In listing the movies of 1964, you left out "The Pink Panther" and "Sex And The Single Girl." Both of them featured one of my favorite singers, the late Fran Jeffries (1937-2016), may God rest her soul.
Just checking back. It's cold now, serious cold. 18 degrees/38 for the high (argh). I didn't forget about you, just checking in with you. And yes, I hear RU-vid has gotten worse. I'll say it again, boy, I'm glad all my stuff (that used to be here) is gone now. Be good, be safe sir !!
Were preppin' for Winter here, lows as low as 14 degrees (goodness) here, argh. 4 new tires on the car, monster house, double lot, argh (again). I was just wanting to check in with you to see if you are safe and healthy !!
Another awesome video. I wished you could have put in the top music of the year as you did in your other videos (I think I know the reason why) Also, when you put in the old commercials you may want to make sure you don't put in one you already used. The commercial for the cream shampoo you also put in your 1966 video. Keep up the great work, can't wait for the next one.
Hey Rhino ! You guessed it.... YT already hit me with 2 strikes and threatened to take my page down with another. I had the entire footage of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and they snagged me. Joy Killers all of them. But thanks for watching :):):)
This docu only shows movies Who were made in 1964, but Some of Them were in cinema in 1965. Mary Poppins was the nr.1 cinema succes of 1965! Narrow followed by the sound of Music.
A good year, only the problem with movies made in a year, that they were in cinema the year after! Like Mary Poppins, Goldfinger made in 64, shown in cinema in 1965!
I wondered where you were, just about to send you a message asking if you were alright, hope everything is !! It's crazy here (big house, double lot, fence around everything) mowing, trimming, pull weed's from the fence, tree's, goodness, you name it. (argh) And rain, goodness, it's terrible. Be good, be safe sir !!
I had heard of...... oh...... complication's (shall we say) with RU-vid. I have about 11 subscribers that I use and more than a few have commented, referencing......... uh...... breakdown's (shall we say) concerning, well anyway, I do understand (I really do). Be good, be safe !!
Very sadly society is going backwards. Racism and intolerance are on the rise. We are all in this together. I was still living in Madrid Spain an enjoying The Beatles. Still am today
@@Johnnyboy792 All I can do is try to wake them up while I continue to fight for my future. Took a week but finally updated the sales lists. Now I will see if I can work on the videos. have 620 items for sale. Have a good night
Hi Jesse ! Have to rework it... RU-vid has gotten so strict with copyright issues, it's maddening. I get to money from these videos but at the beginning of the year they started calming down. So Damn frustrating. :(
Johnnyboy792 ah, got it! :) you should probably get some permission from bands, artists, tv networks and others for those clips or something. Hope this helps! :)
Oh, and can you please make another Saturday morning tv memories sequel called “Saturday Morning TV Memories 1977-1999” that’ll be really awesome if you do that! :)
He'd better hurry up because the Yanks seem determined to kill every animal his dad invented and destroy his home planet. I just don't get how a nation can claim to be god fans and then kill his pets and bury their sh!t in his back garden while he's away. So when 'He' comes back and see's what's been done, the ones who're supposed to be looking after his stuff are getting an ass kicking. It's all made up anyway, and lets face it, "he"'s either choosing to make small children sick and good people's lives miserable or he's exagerating his 'powers'. Either way not someone you'd choose as a friend.
@@Johnnyboy792 I was just interested in what the actual content they claimed was. I mean it can't be anything they created. They have only existed since 1976 and really have not created anything. Every Apple innovation of any note was created by other companies who had no idea how valuable their creations could be.
@@Psychol-Snooper Always music. Even from a VHS tape. But the other was a movie trailer (very curious) and a cartoon... Jonny Quest. Just have to roll the dice and see what happens. Its frustrating knowing this video was supposed to be so much better.
@@Johnnyboy792 There is a RU-vidr who provides some of his shows unmonetized, and just to thwart corporate content claims he adds two clips that he KNOWS will be claimed every time to nobody can remove or monetize the shows. Thx for the great videos!
@@Johnnyboy792 Im a video editor so less is more. Next time reduce those titles by up to 50 percent so that people can pay more attention to the action, not the words
