Thank you for these memories.. I grew up in the 70s and remember walking from Winchmore Hill to Enfield every day! Grange Park was my favourite place to walk to!
So pleased to finally find a really good clip of Enfield, as I remembered it I left Enfield about 26 years ago., but it still has a very warm place in my heart, especially Hillyfields an Whitewebbs where I lived., My Grandfather built some of the houses there in Hillyfields along the lane, an they are still standing there to this day... thank you for your clip..
Enfield may have changed, over the years, but still visit my home town. My parents had a shop in Hertford Road, near Layman's Road, and went to Clark's College in Bycallah Road. Supported Enfield FC at South bury Road, and have reformed some friendships at our existing club Enfield Town FC. Still miss the old club, like many fans do, have witnessed a BIG Passion still exists especially when we play in the FA cup and play-offs. Here's hoping!
Hello Dave, everything for me began in Enfield just before W.W.2, before my birth, with my parents and a elder brother moving out of the East End to a newly build semi on the Cambridge Road a bit before Bullsmoore Lane, my Grand Parents and a widowed, from W.W.1, aunt, into the joining one. Thanks for all the memories, I now live in Quèbec City
OH! Those poor apostrophes (or lack of). Come back Enfield Grammar School! Great pictures though, of the town in which I grew up, and which used to be such a classy place. How things change!
A great collection of pictures of what once was a town with class. Also, a great apostrophe collection, some.where they don't belong, some missing, and even one or two used CORRECTLY! WOW!
Loved watching this video which brought back loads of memories of my childhood in Enfield. I lived in Hawthorn Grove and Bakers Street. My Grandad and then Uncle owned the bakers shops, Painter's of Enfield. My name was Blakemore then.
Memories! Born 1952 - St. George's School - Cardinal Allen School - Lived in Little Park Gardens - Worked at Ferguson's on Great Cambridge Road - wish I had a Time Machine!
Cheers that was great. My dad grew up there in Tudor crescent until 1968 when he left for OZ. I went there in 1990 after he passed away to stay with nan for a few weeks. I remember it being a short walk to Hilly Fields which was absolutely beautiful. And I'm pretty sure he always talked about the pub I saw on here called the Six Bells as his local but could be wrong? I spent ages walking around the place and loved every minute. Hoping to get back to see the relatives soon. Cheers
Good video mate bought back lots of happy memories. My mum used to work at Chase farm hospital in the 70's and 80's and my dad died there in 2009. I didn't see my favorite pub there though The Kings Head in the market square :-)
Yes.....I trained as a nurse in Chase Farm Hospital in 1956 to 1959. It was 12 hour shifts and during the pea soupers it was closed to accommodate victims. Two of us students spent the night laying out bodies. I loved Enfield I used to cycle to work from Edmonton.

@59DAVEMAC I will ask my mum if she new her, I moved to Devon in 1995 and just before Christmas 2010 I drove down London road towards Enfield town and suddenly didn't know where I was because it has all changed so much. Such a shame but still have the memories...
At 1:04...Conker's WHAT???? Chase Green Cottage's...!!!!!!! TUT, TUT. Train's to Liverpool Street...Oh DEAR 1970's... Great memories, but where is The Grammar School? They taught us English Grammar, and punctuation, including how to use the apostrophe (among other things!) Actually, I seem to remember that I first learned the correct use of the poor, now misused apostrophe, at junior school.
.....'Conker's' doesn't need an apostrophe because you are showing lots of 'em (plural) so it should be 'Conkers'. The photos were nice but the accompanying song awful!
