Founded in 1953, Lee Mace's Ozark Opry in Osage Beach entertained capacity audiences with six to eight shows a week, creating what is known today as "Branson-style" entertainment. More than 10 million visitors to the Lake of the Ozarks took in a show at the Opry during its 53-year run.

As a kid we use to go down there to see that show. Always loved Goofer. Sometimes during the winter they had a traveling show and they came to Galesburg IL to promote the show and the Lake.. He was a smart business man. I always liked Goofer doing old McDonald's farm. Thanks for the memories. I do have a album by them too.

I wonder how many musicians got their start at that show! I grew up around it and saw many come and go.

Every summer my family headed to Bagnell. The one must do thing was see Ozark Opry! I loved Goofer and Lee Mace. As a teenager, I had a crush on Steve Tellman. I am sorry to hear of his passing-he was a such great performer! I was lucky enough to come down and let my daughter see a performance about a year before they closed. She was not feeling well but by the end of the show she had forgot all about being sick! We both got to meet Goofer and Steve that night. I will forever miss this show!

Thanks. Brings back many, many memories. I too saw them live at the KRCG studio many, many times during the 60s and the show at the lake quite often.

Grew up watching Ozark Opry on TV Channel 13. I saw them live every year from the mid 70's till they closed. Knew most all the key musicians well. Good memories!

I'm sorry about what happened to him. He was a great man. I used to see the show at least once or twice a summer. Steve was the one that really got me interested in learning guitar and bass. May his soul rest in peace.

My grandpa Frank Hulett was playing guitar in Fox on the Run. So glad that music was passed down to me from him. So great to be able to watch him again.

Dont think we do. To prepare this piece we looked back at only a few episodes from a few years. There are a few videos on RU-vid here with the Ozark Opry but unfortunately unless you know someone with VHS recorded episodes it might be hard to find any more episodes.
