A few old faces from the RH&DR on safari to France. A visit to the South African Memorial at Delville Wood, was followed by a visit to the huge crater caused by the underground mine at the start of the Battle of the Somme, and then a visit and trip on the railway up to the Somme plateau. Their kindness in interrupting a busy working party weekend to reinstate a piece of track so we could get to the plateau was a wonderful gesture - it's just a shame that my video camera battery ran out!
