me too here. :D Steering-wheel support and dash-view. who wouldve thought we would miss them in Racing games these days. NFS4 will always be the best Need For Speed for me.
This is what NFS needs again. Beautiful scenery, exotic classics from the 80's and 90''s, and tracks with shortcuts and intricate background details or towns all to a nice EGM soundtrack.
When i was very young I played Need For Speed Highstakes for 5 consecutive hours and this is the image I got during my sleep, I only saw highways during my dream :)
Year 2001, got my first PS1. Playing the weekends with my father, days and days of passing the championships Then there was a moment where my father had to work on the weekends and weren’t able to see each other I was doing the last championship race and then my father came out of nowhere and I was doing the final lap on first place with my McLaren F1. Dude we celebrated, he invited me McDonald’s, I still smile remembering this. Can’t believe I’m 26 now.
You know what, as much as I love underground, most wanted and all the other black box nfs games this was my first ever nfs game and I got this when I was 3. No matter what happens to nfs this will always be in my gaming heart.
With this game started my liking of cars and racing games, I still have it on my pc, I just can't uninstall it, so many good memories with it, nice video!! One of the best nfs games, if it's not the best.
I agree, this game was one of my all time favorites as a kid and I have a lot of happy memories tied to it. The music makes me happy and I hope that I'll find a permanent way to be able to play this one day again without it crashing. Thanks MindlessMiles for putting this together. You did a great job, really brings me down memory lane!
I know all these tracks like the back of my hand (except for the Raceways because they didn't have cops, lol). This game was one of my favorites during my childhood, if not my top favorite. So many hours of joy I put into High Stakes and I never got the same feeling from another NFS ever again, especially after Underground came out. When Electronic Arts became EA Games, an era ended. This was a great video, so well put together! And I'm glad you didn't put Callista, as I think it's overplayed by most fans (although it's still a great music theme). Liquid Plasma is the best music for racing in pursuit mode!
Thank you I really appreciate the comment. Yeah Liquid Plasma rocks, made me drive faster whenever it played. I appreciate some of the modern arcade racers we get today, but I'll always fondly remember this era of racing games and the old EA as well. And I'm glad that I had the chance to grow up with these games.
Now and forever ... my best years. I was hoping for the future, but I did not know that I was living the best ... and that it would never come back. Life is tremendous.
I fondly remember playing with my brother in split screen and try getting in front the the train (3:30) so it would ram us and glitch the game for giggles... for some reason that was so funny to us. We did this every single time we played on that track, it was too fun. This is what I remember most vividly about NFS HS.
The best NFS game for me. It had a solid presentation, very good track diversity, a fun damage model and cars which handled differently. It also had an extensive career mode where you had to put in the effort before you could purchase new cars or even unlock new circuits. I recall the pretty brutal progression at the start, when the earnings for placing last (which I was doing with regularity at first) were nowhere near enough to cover repair costs. Now I am playing Porsche Unleashed, which back in the day I skipped. The handling is different, but the High Stakes feel is still there. NFS 3, 4, 5 and 6 (HP2) represent the golden generation for me. Since then, NFS has begun to lose its identity in my eyes.
I agree. High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed are something special; you can tell EA put a lot of heart in these titles. I do feel there were a few good games after HP2 but yeah this was the golden generation.
Nice& good Video pretty right music track for the video too& yes its alott of memory lane with that music since nfs4 Tracks, ps sad you didnt include nfs3 tracks that alsoe whas in nfs4 but other than that Greate video liked&added to fav :)
