Does anyone else think about this album almost 8 years later? I am an adult now and I honestly can't get these songs out of my head. This was such a good album!
I know. When I listened to this when it came out I never took into consideration the lyrics and how deep is actually was. Just needed something to listen to. Came back and can't imagine why I haven't heard it in so long. #Deep
The first half is heavy and pumps you up with meaning then the second half is more lighter but brings out the meaning even harder and gives the message in a brilliant way this is why this is one of my favourite songs for MMF :D
If there is anyone in the world that I want to thank. It's Memphis May Fire. They're not only a giant inspiration to me. They're literally my heroes. This was the first song I heard by them. I was sitting alone in my room about to kill myself. And I was listening to Pandora when this song came on and I just stopped and broke down crying because the lyrics were so fitting. This song showed me what a blessing it is to live. Thanks so much. Without you guys, I wouldn't be here today.
The spirit of God is all over this song! God saved you through Memphis May Fire. “Defined not by where you’ve been. Knowing that you’ll be made new!” And you’ve been made new!
At first this song made me feel like there might be a chance for me and a girl in the future down the road when our lives started to develop but now with a new mindset the song helps me to see that it's better to let go and just create a new chapter in my life. Powerful stuff
12 Years later and this song still gives me chills and brings a little tear. Insane how this song was overlooked by the other powerhouses in the same album.
2:42 you always think like "ah this derpy computer sound errors" but after you listen to it a million times you get aware of the fact it's not really your computer :D
I think they are all amazing, Sleepwalking and Between the Lies too! But the old Memphis EP with Chase Ryan, ehh, I prefer Mat's vocals over anything else.
Dear, MMF Thank you!! You have no idea how you've changed my life. This song tells me how I should live my life. Always trying to do the right thing. Just forget about all the crap that im holding on to and always move forward. This song helped me hold on. I'll keep trying. Thanks again!!
The best song they've ever done. Sounds a bit fangirly but it was a huge eye opener when I saw these live the first time. Matty was a humble as fuck dude as well afterwards
I'm very surprised this song does not have more views. This is honestly my favorite song of the album, and honestly, you may not know this Memphis May Fire, but your music do save lives. Your lyrics are so inspirational, and for that I thank you. Keep it up MMF!
I’ve listened to these guys for about 10 years, beginning in my secular days. Always loved the tunes, lyrics were “meh” - but now I actually GET these guys. The further I grew spiritually the more I started to understand the meaning behind the lyrics. Every listen gets better 🔥🔥🔥
My ex who I gave 3 years of my life to and almost proposed to left me for another guy and it has been the hardest thing to let go. This song made me burst into tears.
my story? I listened to this song on repeat and wrote this on my wall "From this day on, I vow to live life to the fullest, to take advantage, to never let the past get in the way , to never let my thoughts consume me, to never be scared, to never let the past influence a current decsion, I will change, I will become better, I will be happy, and I will fight, this is my life, I have the tools, I can do this, I promise." It's not what you have now, it's what you have in store
I remember being all stoked for this album to drop and my friends and i played the shit out of this album front to back.. no need to skip any songs cus they were all great and its bringing back all kinds of amazing memories. :')
this song is absolutely fucking incredible. i first got into this band by listening to challenger and now can't stop listening to anything and everything they've put out.
As what a theological person would call an Atheist, I love this band. Even when the lyrics are directed from the bible. That is the best thing about music, it's representational of whatever you want it to be. For me it's strength, understanding and being positive. Everyone has a story. Conversely, every story has an ending. Brilliant shit.
my story is tht i lookd up rock band's list of network songs and found these guys and to b honest...theyre def the best band i found out from there, along with a few others but not many i didnt no tht was wicked good
I've seen Memphis May Fire twice and it changed my life both times. you definatly missed out these guys are just one of a kind and there is no other band out there like Memphis May Fire... hope to see these guys again in scranton this year at warp tour.
Taken from an interview with Matty Mullins: "Every song tells the story from the perspective of somebody different. There’s only one song on the record that’s told from my perspective. The rest of the songs are from people that I know that have gone through certain things. Every song on the record tells the story about something that makes people feel hollow inside and that’s why we named the record The Hollow. The very last track on the record offers hope."
This song makes me think,"maybe I'm not a complete failure, maybe I'm actually worth something to someone...maybe I'm really NOT alone...", thank you Memphis May Fire...thank you.
Good God.... These lyrics are amazi- no... EVERY Song on the album has INCREDIBLE lyrics. It seems each one has meaning and a story to tell. Memphis May Fire, you are coming close to being my favorite band. ILOVETHESEGUYS. XD
I love Challenger and its lyrics too. Both of these albums are perfect and there's no song that I dislike by Memphis May Fire. This band is perfect for sure.
Listened to these guys literally when they first showed up on purevolume, LONG time ago... Solid lyrics then, Solid lyrics now. God bless Memphis May Fire :)
this song has really helped me through some shit and getting to see these guys live was amazing for me cuz this album has really helped me through stuff
this song saved my life, not some sappy emo shit, litertaly at my worst moment, my ipod was on shuffle, and this song came up, it hit me, the words hit me, its not about what you have now, it's what you have in store
no problem! It's such an incredible concept for am album. I wanted to make sure people knew what it was about since a lot of people were saying they didn't know. This album has saved my life!
i cant find a single thing wrong with them. and i love either lyrics. "i cant say, the past will never get in the way just remember all things come and go, if they dont mean a thing, its not about what you have now, its what you have in store". those right there helped me get through a breakup from a 9 month relationship lastweek. you guys are an inspiration. if anyone keeps this music alive, its you. thank you.
who gets goose bumps when he says " I cant say the past will never get in the way, just remember all things come and go, they don't mean a thing, its not about what you have now, its about what you have in store, LET GO!!!!" cause i for sure as hell did :''') beautiful and wise lyrics man.
Everyone has a story to tell? Here is my story: I was looking for a band, until rise records appeared on suggestions, and I've found more than that. I've found real music, pasion and truth= MMF I hope this story never end.
Just came here after reading all those comments under MMF new album about how they've changed into soft... well, now listening to their old music I completely get it! ....THIS. WAS. AWESOME! (still, I think the newer songs aren't too bad. my opinion.)
