Hahahaha I can't believe you americans have commercials at the same time they are running AND the screen is twice as big. During 16 minutes of running you had 2 commercials brakes hhahaha this is insane. I would go insane. HOW CAN YOU HAVE commercials once more in the end, A 3RD commercial brake video twice as big during the same time AND so close to the end.
Wow, a runner with a low bodyfat percentage, who would have expected that? Dude, Every single one of those runners have defined abs. Btw # of abs has nothing to do with strength or anything. Some people are born with 3,4 (Arnold Schwarzenegger for example),5,6,7,8, even 10 in rare cases
It's appalling that the announcers insult Rupp by hardly mentioning him and purposely forgetting to mention his as a 3 time Olympian in the 10000M... and they talk Ben True as the only old timer and vet!!!! Pitiful announcers!
In their defence, Rupp has already said he wouldn’t run the 10k at the Olympics regardless of this race. They know he’s already made the team in the marathon.
As someone who's worked on one of these broadcast in the smallest of ways, generally they look for storylines, up close and personal type stuff...it's an NBC edict almost. The fact that these announcers flunked out on the hometown story of the race, an Oregon Track and Field LEGEND, and two time Olympic Medalist, that they could not find the time, LOL, in a 28min race to honor the dude. -Amateurs. I'm embarrassed for them, that they said they'd update us on Rupp in a moment...and then flopped. I'm embarrassed for them. A man who has a silver medal at the Olympics in this very event, is racing likely, his last track race ever, to experience the Hayward joy one more time...and that he gets his nose into the race in the final laps...that's exciting! Obviously he didn't have the closing speed wheels because he trains for the marathon now etc. A real missed opportunity to honor a home town legend, and an American star distance runner, who's done so much to promote the sport and give the others the inspiration to know that they can mix it up with the best in the world at distance events. The totally flunked, with nearly 30 minutes to give this legend 30 seconds of honor and props. Embarassed for them. They failed to do their homework. There were other examples of poor announcing in the race too. Amateurs! All too often more poor distance announcing for our dwindled sport.
He got the amount of attention he deserved. He shouldn't have been allowed to start in the first place as he had no intention of competing in the Olympics.
@@Ryan-ul7dy That's not true at all. Low body fat helps, but abs, arms, and legs still have to be trained in order to become well defined. It's also partially genetic.
am enjoying the us olympic trials here from uk and some excellent commentary too, great last 400, doesnt matter about finishing time, that last lap is the one that counts, well done guys
No mention of the top two in this race?? Aka Bowerman athletes who probably are more sus than Galen being apart of the same associated club as Shelby. Whatever, innocent until proven guilty of course
@@charliewatkins4571 Your logic is clear, but the greatest 10k runners in history are, quite simply, those who have run the fastest 10ks in history, and that is not Ben True or Chris Solinsky. The top 10k runners maintain the physiques that let them win races. By your logic we could say that an obese individual who finishes a marathon is actually the greatest marathon runner in history because of a pound for pound workload, which would clearly be absurd.
@@Mousehansen True, but it makes you wonder if there are weight classes for boxing and weight lifting, one for running would sure the hell be interesting.
Can't wait for Cheptegei to completely mop the floor with them in the olympics... Crazy to think that Cheptegei can run almost 2 minutes faster than these times
Well, tbf this was a tactical race with a kick finish, while Cheptegeis 10k was a WR attempt in an uncompetitive field. Cheptegei is admittedly much better than any US distance runner tho
@@cryptic2610 yeah lol I'm just a big fan of Cheptegei. With or without pacers. I think Cheptegei will beat them. I think the fact that Cheptegei didn't have competition actually makes his record very impressive because he didn't have competetion to push him even faster. I see what your saying though
@@cryptic2610 Cheptegeis record shouldn't not be official. The WR was handed on a silver platter. The whole thing was staged. They made sure to break the records with technological help. Those wavelights are like robot pacers and the kangaroo shoes are massive help as well. It may not look like much but its all about tiny margins at this level. The men and women's 10000m and 5000m stood for so long I guess haha. No one could reach them so they had to do this robbery The Ugandans splits were metronomic. Very much on point. That is because a robot was pacing him on the side of the track. You can clearly see the light illuminating the inside of the track so of course he can see them. Massive cheating.
I don't understand. These guys run slower than 27:28 but it's said they already have the olypmic standard??? Then how come Mo Farah fails in England???
@@Juli-gi3ti Thanks. So if they already had a race in which seven of them met 27:28, wouldn't the fastest 3 got the Tokyo ticket already? Why need this race?
@@brianlam257 anyone who has gotten the standard since January of 2019 is eligible to be there if they make the team. So they have to race everyone who got it since then to decide who makes it. It wouldn’t make sense to put a guy who ran insanely fast two years ago on the team if he is out of shape now
Who are these announcers?? By you saying that Rupp was doing a workout rather than competing, you are disrespecting the other runners that evaporate him.
Those tank tops with the light on top and the dark below make the runners look like women. Whoever chose that color style needs to find another job. Cheers
he was done with 1000 to go. Stepped on people, went off line, and was exhausted in the last 250. He's marathon training. Its a different effort. This was too fast for him
Only second time ever running this far and comes in second, qualifying for Olympics! Just goes to show that experience can't beat talent... Some people just have it!
What the crap are you talking about. The commentators are talking about the 2nd time he's RACED this distance as a PRO. You really think this guy walked in and goes to the olympics?
I’m guessing this was meant as an insult .. Unfortunately, you do not really have a leg to stand on, as Rupp already punched his ticket to Tokyo by placing 1st in the marathon.
Pretty sure he qualified for the marathon team. Hard to have fast 10k speed when you are in marathon shape. I'm surprised he even tried for this unless he was just using it as a practice race since he cant race a marathon from now until the Olympics
Hype around Rupp? He had no hype going into this race , it was a workout. Your 1 olympics off on hype. He did not have the standard and never planned on racing the 10 k in Tokyo.
errrrr, guy not even training for the 10000m, came here to run a few laps of the track and finishes 6th! Embarrassing for the rest of the field I'd say.
