I'm most impressed with Fred Kirley's race; from his start, drive phase, top end speed and finish. Dude looks like he's been running 100m all his life. Congrats to the team; and Gatlin, sorry Champ, father time is undefeated. .
If Gatlin did not have the injury he would of won. Why would he want to retire? Are you jealous/envious? YOU go and run faster than him and he might not make it to the finals. ;)
@ThatOne so when a 18 year old gets injured do you consider that athlete old? What is ''old'' anyways? Yes, athletes who dont take care of themselves or got bored have an expiration date.
I want to say thanks to Justin for all the amazing moments he's given this sport. That injury is probably going to retire him, but what a ride it's been. Get well JG
That is correct! Even though Bolt has the 100m record, Gatlin outlasted him by beating him in his last World Championship. Bolt should have been the one to Bow to Gatlin on that day.
@Raymond O'Connor I realized even though Bromell is 7th fastest all time and Coleman is 6th fastest all time they have never won a single medal at the olympic games. Degrasse won 4 olympic medals(and 1 gold)
Honestly though, a 39 year old Justin Gatlin has been hanging with kids half his age. Incredible career for him. Bromell is just flawless in his form sometimes.
@@kingshark3503 Bromell and Baker are not running the 2, I think. That said, I think Lyles and Norman are locks for the 200. Final spot will be between Bednarek, Laird, and Kerley. Out of those 3, I probably would favor Bednarek, but who knows what could happen.
@@anonfan7763 eh, lyles just isn’t fit. He’s not strong, not cut, and not explosive. I’d say Norman, Kerley, and Bednarik are my favorites after an unconvincing performance from Laird in NCAA’s. It’s been a long season for him, so I expect the pros to show their prowess.
Thank you Gatlin for everything, you inspire so many people. So many people enjoy supporting you. This was nothing compared to all you've done, injuries come occasionaly, the frustration they bring allow us to really see the glory we've got in contrast. Beast! Congrats to all runners!
Calm down, his career didn’t end, he’s still pretty fast and fit. He probably didn’t warmed up properly and strain a muscle, let’s pray for his speedy recovery.
Let's go Kerley!! I knew he was better at the 100m this year. I think he'll surprise everyone by squeezing in another top 3 performance for the 200m despite never going below 20.20.
@@dereckdean578 he's not on form. His top speed has never been blistering as we've seen in the 100's he's only ran 1 or 2 this yr, so having said that he will need to have his speed endurance on point where he closes in the last 50 on people decelerating faster than him. Thats his strength. He's going to need to drop in the 19.7's to make the team the way Bedernek, Kerly, and Laird are running this yr. Not to mention whatever other sleeper shows up. Kerly is the man to beat.
Yeah, i wish coleman was here. Honestly, i think it is a lock for bromell, coleman is the only one who would have challenged him at made the olympic final interesting
I just have huge respect for Trayvon after what he's been through and he is so humble. This guy is going very far. Gold in Tokyo if he stays fit. I always tell my friends not to count out Fred and oh yes he is on the team to Tokyo.
Kenny Bednarek ran 9.89 with a starting reaction of 0.307! He also reached the highest speed of all - 26.4 miles. at 200m from it you can expect sub 19.6
Gatlin is definitely an all time great! If you don't have him as the top 10 greatest sprinters of all time then you are just a hater. Hopefully he goes out on a high next year championship
@@afrobuddy4801 Before, i was really against him. Now i have so much freakin’ respect for that man. He was the guy that pushed the goat (Usain bolt) towards the line. He was the guy that everyone was afraid of. Justin is a legend. Always
@@stevemartin7798 lol, he was only busted twice and the first time wasn't even a real violation. Also stop holding on to something that happened 15 years ago. Believe it or not, people can change
As much as Bromell is my personal favourite to win gold in Tokyo I'm a huge Gatlin fan as well and was hoping he managed to pull off a miracle and get the 3rd spot. It's really sad that a legend like Gatlin had to end his career on a sour note with an injury like Bolt, but hey, he'll always be remembered as the best sprinter ever after Bolt and the one to dethrone him. I wish him the best on his retirement. Now is the time for him to get into coaching and create legends like himself 🙌🙌🙌
@@jonathangrinfone6514 sorry to say but I deal with tangible achievements. Even though Gay may have the fastest time he has no Olympic medal to his name. Gatlin on the other hand was always consistently making the podium and won silver behind Bolt from 2013 to 2016 until he finally got the better of Bolt in 2017. If Bolt was out the equation Gatlin would have been WC 3 times in a row.
@@afrobuddy4801 it's better he don't. Gatlin just like Bolt was always consistently making the podium and maintained that standard throughout their career. When Bolt won bronze he decided it was time to go to avoid the embarassment of losing. Gatlin should do the same and call it a day cuz he wouldn't be capable of making the podium anymore, and that would look bad for somebody with his amount of achievements.
@@kristoffermccarthy1847 i wasn't talking about achievements.. Gay has tons of incredible races under his belt...9.69 AR, 9.71 that was simply incredible, many sub 9.80 ecc ecx
If you are thanking a god who's concerned about sports, you are worshipping a god with the wrong priorities!! If you think a god is choosing you above everyone else, then you ARE extremely egotistical.
I thought we were screwed when Coleman got suspended but Bromell has more than carried the torch. It would had been nice to see a relay with Coleman, Bromell, Gatlin and Baker but I guess we will never know.
@Raymond O'Connor So how does that explain his 9.80 here? Or his 9.76 in Kenya? Or both of his 9.84s? He’s ran 9.8 or faster 7 times, so I would exactly say he’s “not that fast” like you say. He also has a world championship bronze and an indoor world gold from when he was 20 and 21, respectively.
@Joe Bloggs just because you're non believer you shouldn't degrade someone's achievement. His been through a lot with injuries so have some respect!!! Besides you can't honestly sit there & say that you saw him doping with your own 2 eyes. Put yourself in his shoes, would you be able to make a comeback like he just did?? I highly doubt it...
Justin Gatlin is the U.S. standard for sprints and endurance. To have lasted so long, he is the model for consistency. Not many have seen this level of success for so long! Congrats to all.
So glad to see that there are still dudes that will not trade their relationship with God with human secularism non belief in God. Thank you both for being bold and true to yourself and your God. God bless you and lift you higher. Cheers. Jesus is LORD!!!
Love how Bromell and Baker rely on both their faith and hard work to get them where they are and where they are going. They have the best of both worlds; they will be dangerous

Trevon Bromell gave the only answer he needs to; All Praise and Glory goes to God, it's beautiful to hear, see and know that this young man knows who gave him the talent and who is guiding his life , Amen.
@Rohit Bisht yes. you have to fullfill 2 conditions. the first condition is that you finish top 3 in the Olympic Trials. the second condition is that you meet an Olympic Standard time. Just because you ran fast doesnt mean anything America has a lot of fast athletes you have to get top 3. But also, if you do top 3 and do not have the time (doesnt happen often) , then you don't go.
Wheeeew what a race. Uhhhhh is it me or we got a real shot at a sweep in the 100m , and geez if we can handle the stick we might catch a top 3 4x100 time. USA men are back post bolt era. 😎🥳

Thank you, both! Another weird question: with Kerley punching his ticket in the individual 100m, could he be used in the 4x400m? I realize he probably wouldn't want to, and his schedule will probably be super busy with the 100m, 4x100m, and possibly 200m, but if he did want to run the mile relay, would he be allowed to?
@@darrellid yes, they did the same thing for A.Felix back in her super prime days. I think Fred makes the 200m team with Benny and Noah. This was the first US Olympic Trials where the top three finishers ran in the 9.8's (non-wind-aided), not to mention that fourth place did, as well. Three of the five fastest times EVER were run at the 2021 Trials by Bromell, (9.80) Baker (9.85), and Kerley (9.86), but I haven't heard ANYONE mention how historic this was.
